Melody
Chapter twenty-six
Idon’t think I’ve ever felt this light. It’s like waking up every morning knowing that your heart is right where it’s meant to be.
As Christmas break quickly approaches, I’m buzzing with the news that we’ll have to tell our parents…
I haven’t talked to Kaden about it yet, but this thing between us feels solid. We’ve always loved each other, and I want to rip the band-aid off while it’s still fresh. Sure, Dad is going to have a heart attack, but he can’t say he never knew where our bond was headed.
I mean, it’s been pretty hard to keep this a secret.
Especially from Kodi, who constantly begs to talk about my mystery man.
I’ve told her all the details that keep Kaden’s identity in the dark, but it’s getting old.
I want to gossip over our relationships and just come out and tell her.
I know it’s best to wait until Kaden and I are on the same page, so I’ve kept quiet. Antsy, but quiet.
I flick through my textbook in the library, my leg shaking under the table as I roll the hem of my skirt between my fingers. I don’t have any more exams left, but studying is the only thing that keeps my mind calm. I have to have something to stop me from being overcome with nerves.
A tattooed hand reaches across my shoulder, the smell of smoke curling into my nose as Kaden presses his fingers to the page. “History? You’re not taking any history classes.”
I bite my lower lip, hiding my smile. “Some of us enjoy reading in our spare time.”
He snorts, nipping at the shell of my ear as a shiver wracks my spine. “I’ve seen the things you read, Sunny.” He whispers huskily. “There isn’t an ounce of word porn in this book.”
I tilt my chin up at him as he slides into the chair beside me, and his hands grab my seat. One settles between my thighs, making heat ignite in my lower belly as the other grips the edge, and he pulls me closer to him.
“Well, hello there, pretty girl,” he rumbles, his lips connecting with mine in a toe-curling kiss.
“Hi,” I respond meekly before lifting my hand to the worn collar of his shirt. “Show me again.”
He takes my wrist, giving me a faux stern expression. “Undressing me? In a library. How debauched of you.”
I roll my eyes. “You know what I want to see.”
He pulls his shirt down, revealing the space above his heart that’s inked with my name. It’s in gentle cursive, the letters swelling and swooping as if a delicate hand created it. Saint is anything but delicate. But his work is good.
“I still can’t believe you did that,” I smile.
Kaden taps my chin with a finger. “Of course you can. You love it.”
“A little,” I admit.
He flicks one of the pages in my textbook, staring at the mass of black ink that runs together. “What part are you on?”
“Women’s suffrage,” I say as I point to the paragraph I ended on.
He hums, passing a hand over his mouth. “I was never good in school. Maybe I didn’t have the right motivation?”
His question dips, turning sensual as he eases slowly under the table. I blanch, reaching for his shoulders as I glance around. We’re alone, but that doesn’t make this any better.
“What are you doing?!” I hiss in a whisper. “Get up!”
His head tilts. “I don’t think I will. Start reading before I fuck you over this table.”
He dips down, shouldering my legs until my thighs wrap around his ears from below. His hands curl around my hips, anchoring me in place as my face flames with embarrassment.
“Tick tock, Melody,” he taunts. “My next move will be bending you over for the whole library to hear how well you take your brother’s cock.”
I close my eyes, steadying my voice as Kaden uses a finger to pull my panties to the side. He’s hidden by the massive oak table, and there’s no way anyone can see him under there. It’s such a tight squeeze that it appears I’m alone rather than about to be eaten like a meal. “In 1920…”
His mouth touches me, and his nose slides up, bumping into my clit as he lavishes me with his tongue. I’m dripping onto the seat—I know I am—because it’s pooling beneath me. My breath hitches as my head sinks back and my eyes threaten to roll.
Kaden’s teeth scrape across my clit, making me jump before I glare down at him. His dark eyes swallow mine, a warning blaring in them.
“Don’t fucking stop,” he growls. “One more chance.”
I grab a fistful of his hair, pulling roughly as he groans at the pain. “Oops.”
“Brat,” he smirks, diving back in. He isn’t even trying to be secretive about it anymore. His sloppy sounds fill the lobby, and I bite the inside of my cheek as desire and rage battle inside of me.
I tug his hair more aggressively, my pants skating past my lips. “The…the nineteenth amendment—”
“That isn’t where we were,” he corrects.
“Oh, how do you know?” I ask breathlessly as he creates small teasing circles around my swollen flesh. “Y-you’re not even looking!”
My thighs tremble as he bears down, shaking his head and creating a vibration in the back of his throat that travels through me. It makes my stomach coil, tension wrapped in heat as I pull harder on his hair.
“The…” I gasp. “The nineteenth amendment…doesn’t allow for bias—fuck—when voting! It allowed women to weigh in…”
“I’m learning so much,” he croons, sucking my sensitive bud as he slicks two fingers inside of me. He goes deep, making a breathless yelp shout past my lips. I bite my bottom one so hard that I draw blood, the taste of copper mixing in my mouth.
“Kaden,” I warn, my orgasm close to shattering me as my hips lift off the chair.
“I know for a fact that isn’t in your book,” he hums, his hand moving faster as he finger fucks me. “Come on, baby. I’ll never learn at this rate.”
I slap a hand over my mouth, muffling my scream as that tension finally eases into pure warmth and languidity.
It settles in my bones, turning me into a puddle as I slump in my chair.
My head rolls back, quiet sounds leaving me as I writhe.
As the intense feeling subsides a little, I’m left with my head reeling from my orgasm.
Kaden kisses the inside of my thigh sweetly, smirking against my skin. “Are your bags packed for winter break?”
I smooth a hand over his hair, gazing down at him with clouded eyes. “Yes. I finished last night.”
“Good,” he praises. “I hope you didn’t pack too much. You won’t be needing clothes.”
I chuckle. “We’re staying with our parents. Of course, I need clothes.”
He tilts his head, resting it against my thigh as his eyes close contentedly. “I still can’t convince you to stay at my apartment, can I?”
I pinch his cheek affectionately. “Nope. That would raise too much suspicion. Besides, don’t you think it would be best to ease them into the news?”
His brows lift as his eyes peel open. “You want to tell them?”
Those nerves bite at me as I take the hem of my skirt between my fingers. Kaden scowls, lowering my hand before I sigh.
“Yeah. We should. We’ve been dating for a few months now…”
His expression softens, morphing into clear devotion as he rubs my thigh with his rough palm. “Can we have a little fun with it first? I’m fully on board with telling them if that’s what you want, Sunny.”
I lean into him, my mind attuned to his. “We aren’t having sex in our parents’ house! That’s crazy!”
“You know it excites you,” he hums, kissing my flesh. “Don’t think I didn’t feel the way you fucking squeezed my cock when Dylan was watching…”
My cheeks flame with embarrassment as my mouth moves, but no words formulate. It’s a kink I haven’t come to terms with, and Kaden saying it so bluntly has rendered me speechless.
“You like the thrill of being caught,” he rumbles. “It’s okay. No need to be shy about it.”
“Yeah, but not by our parents!” I hiss.
He shrugs. “They won’t catch us. It’ll be our little secret.”
I hate that I’m even tempted. Sneaking around shouldn’t feel this intoxicating, yet it does. Maybe it’s the forbidden edge of it—the way danger sharpens every touch into quick, desperate caresses. The thought of adrenaline tangling with desire is its own kind of fiery passion.
“You’re thinking about it,” he croons. “You like being my little fucking secret, don’t you?”
I bite my lip, nodding.
He smiles against my skin. “Then let’s have some fun, and we’ll tell them once we have a clear getaway. Give them time to process.”
“Kind of cowardly of you,” I muse.
He gives me a love bite, his teeth barely sinking into my flesh. “I’m thinking of you. I know how you get when Mom is upset. Some space may help you both work through your emotions better. Dad is going to try to kill me. I don’t want you there for that.”
I roll my eyes. “Very chivalrous of you, but if we’re doing this, we’re in it together.”
Kaden rises up on his knees, tilting his chin up as his eyes become hooded. “I fucking love you.”
“I love you too,” I giggle as I kiss him.
