Chapter forty-five Melody
Chapter forty-five
Melody
Iwake up with a wide, sleepy smile gracing my face. My orgasms from last night still ring through my body, making my muscles loose and languid.
I haven’t cum that hard in years.
I turn over, ready to kiss the living daylights out of my fiancé, when I realize my bed is empty and it’s just me. Dylan’s words from when we first got here ring back at me.
“If we’re sleeping apart, it’s only respectful if we don’t have sex in Mom and Dad’s house.”
What a crock of shit. He must have finally given in to the fantasies I discussed with him in private.
When I first told him about the thrill of being caught, he was aghast. He didn’t like the idea of anyone potentially finding us.
I tried to convince him, but he said it wasn’t his thing, and I dropped it.
Looks like someone is trying new things.
I hop out of bed, the sunlight casting over my face as I throw on a robe and follow the smell of freshly brewed coffee downstairs. Dylan has always been the first one up, and I’m expecting to walk into a cup ready for me after the night we had.
As I take the last step, I spot him at the kitchen counter, his back turned to me as he pours himself a generous mug.
The front door opens, whipping the cold air into the house as Kaden stalks in.
His cheeks are flushed, and his hair mussed as he shucks off his coat to reveal his black compression shirt.
“Driveway is shoveled and salted,” he announces.
Dylan glares at him. “I was planning to do that today.”
“Yeah?” Kaden asks, his brows rising as he takes his gloves off. “You snooze, you lose.”
My fiancé‘s jaw twinges as I glide over to him. I know just what to do to cheer him up. I snake my arms around his waist, nipping playfully at his ear. “You’re up early. You didn’t want to stay?”
He slides a hand over mine, humming as he kisses my cheek. “Stay? Stay where, baby?”
I chuckle as I trail my lips along his neck. “In bed with me.”
His head rears as he snorts. “In bed? I wasn’t in bed with you.” My heart stops as I freeze, but Dylan doesn’t notice as he purrs deep in his throat and kisses my temple. “Are you having naughty dreams about me, Mrs. Callahan?”
The whole world tilts.
I was awake.
He was there.
He…
A dream. That had to have been a dream.
That’s what it was.
“I…” I trail, forcing myself to shake it off. “I must have been.”
Dylan turns to me, wrapping his arms around me as he smirks. “We can make those dreams a reality.”
My anxiety melts away into a real, genuine smile as I walk my fingers up his chest. “Oh? How would you do that, Mr. Callahan?”
He dips down, his eyes becoming hooded and clouded with lust. “I can think of one way—”
“Oh, is that coffee?” Kaden appears out of nowhere, shoving us aside and ruining our moment as he yanks a mug out of the cabinet. “Thanks, Dylan.”
My fiancé clears his throat as he wraps an arm around my shoulder. “Look, man, I think we started off on the wrong foot yesterday. How did you sleep last night?”
He’s extending an olive branch, trying to rectify the intensity of last night. He’s a good man, but he doesn’t know my brother as well as I do.
Which is why I tense up so tightly that I’m sure he can feel it.
Kaden takes his time, pouring his coffee into his mug before grabbing my old tumbler from the cabinet and pouring some into it. He retrieves the liquid creamer I like for my morning coffee and a few ice cubes, then concocts the drink and hands it to me.
I take it meekly. “Thanks…”
He props his hip against the counter, sipping his black coffee slowly before responding. “I slept great.“ His eyes roll up to the ceiling in contemplation. “Although I didn’t wake up on the sofa.”
My cup stops halfway to my mouth as the sound rushes past my ears. Moving is impossible as he delivers the final blow.
“Must have just been a dream,” Kaden shrugs before taking his coffee out onto the terrace and easing down on one of the patio chairs.
“He’s weird,” Dylan mutters. “But I assume this is progress.”
“Yeah…” I trail, staring unseeingly at the floor. I blink rapidly. “Um, I need to go grab something.”
I don’t wait for his response as I bound back up the stairs. As I rush into my room, the door smacks into the wall as I stalk over to the bed. I rip the covers back, revealing the stain left behind from last night.
Everything slams into me.
Dylan’s hair felt different.
He’s never put a hand over my mouth during sex.
His shoulders felt wider beneath me.
He knew just what to do to make me cum…
The bile rises so quickly that I can’t stop it. I’m sprinting to the bathroom, abandoning my travel mug on the counter as I drop to my knees and hurl. Tears dot my lashes as I gag and sputter into the toilet until there’s nothing left.
I sit back with a thud, my arms so heavy that they curl around my spread legs.
He touched me…
Kaden touched me…
Oh, my god! I cheated on Dylan! What the fuck?!
Okay, how could this be cheating? I didn’t know it was Kaden. That doesn’t count, right? Not if I was touched against my will.
My stomach twists so hard at the mere thought. The room feels too small—personal. The events of last night flash unbidden in my head.
The way he stretched me, the way he was holding onto me so tightly that I’m sure my hips are bruised, and the way he made me orgasm twice until I was dripping down his face…
“I didn’t know…” I whisper brokenly, wetness tracking down my cheeks.
I didn’t know it was Kaden. Even though all the signs were there, I didn’t. Know.
I drag my fingers through my hair, tugging on it slightly as if the pain will shunt me back to the present. “It wasn’t cheating,” I try to reason with myself. “I didn’t invite it. I didn’t choose it.”
Did I?
I rewind further, to my frantic breaths and undulating hips. The way I held him in place as I fucked his face desperately, chasing an orgasm I hadn’t had in months. The curl of my fingers that scraped his scalp, begging for him to go harder, faster.
No! No, no, no!
I didn’t invite him to do that to me. He doesn’t get to fucking touch me. I’m happy with Dylan, and I refuse to let Kaden taint that.
My chest tightens with rage as I push up from the ground. I smooth my hair down, taking a deep breath as I try to still my heart. I swipe at my tears, drying my cheeks before I head back downstairs. I go straight for the terrace doors, sliding them open as Kaden rises from his chair.
“What the fuck are you doing out here without shoes on?” He asks sharply with a scowl. “It’s fifteen degrees out—””
I cut him off, stomping over to him as I point a finger at his chest. “Shut up! I know what the fuck you did. You violated me!”
He scoffs, his head rolling back. “Please, Dylan is doing far worse behind your back.”
“You—” My words die on my tongue as I take a step back. “No! No! You don’t get to try and turn this around on him!”
He tucks his hands into his pockets, rocking back on his heels. “Ask me the right question, baby.”
“Stop calling me that!” I shout, my eyes flickering to the door to see that my fiancé is no longer downstairs.
Kaden leans in, gaining my attention as my spine straightens. “Ask me the right question, Melody.” He whispers, his head tilting. “I know you’re curious about what he’s really doing in the dark.”
“I…” My voice trails, those secrets tugging deep in my gut. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about what Kaden said last night. It’s remained in the back of my mind, floating aimlessly like a haunting presence.
It makes me pause, assaulting me with every implication it possibly can. There’s a rush of wind that bites past my robe as it chills me to the bone, and my toes feel like ice blocks, but none of it is a balm for the twinge of hurt I experience at my core.
Is there something I’m missing?
No.
No, there can’t be. Dylan loves me. We’ve built a life together…
He would never hurt me. Not like someone else would.
My face hardens as I glare at Kaden. “I’m not asking you jack shit.”
He sucks his teeth before his pierced tongue darts across his bottom lip. It catches my eye, giving me an intense flashback that makes my neck flame.
“Fuck,” he chuckles. “I can still taste you, you know? You came all over my face like you hadn’t been tongue fucked that good in…” His eyes roll up as he squints. “Years.”
I blanch, my eyes widening. “No! Shut up and stay the fuck away from me!”
Kaden waves a hand over his mouth tauntingly. “All over my fucking face. You can try to erase me, but you can’t unfuck my tongue, Melody. Now, go back in the house before you get frostbite.”
Steam billows out of my ears as I huff and turn on my heel. I’m not listening to him because he asked me to. The only reason I’m retreating is that I can’t feel my toes.
That’s it.
I slam the sliding door, making Mom jump as she whips around to me. She’s fully dressed in her massive white coat and fuzzy boots. “What’s gotten into you?”
“Uh,” I sigh, running a hand down my hair. “Rough night. Where are you going?”
“Dad and I are going to get supplies for the storm,” she smiles. “Want to tag along?”
The glass door slides open behind me before Kaden passes and kisses Mom’s cheek. “Nah, but I think I heard Dylan say he needs something from town. Why don’t you take him with you?”
Mom pats his cheek appreciatively as my mouth falls open. “Good idea. Let me rally the guys so we can head out.”
Kaden’s fingers wiggle in a silly gesture, his smirk growing as Mom calls for my fiancé and Dad. Once she’s out of earshot, he turns to me. “Looks like it’s just us, little sister.”
Fuck me.
