Epilogue

James wiped the blood from his hands. The man strung up behind him had stopped kicking long ago. He wasn’t dead, at least not yet, but he was hurting something fierce.

“Did you get all the information?” he asked David.

“I have it all written down.”

“Good. We’ll have a council meeting in the morning to discuss where this fine gentleman said the drugs are being stored. I’m going home to my wife.”

“What shall we do with him?”

“He’ll be dead by morning. Tell the sheriff we found a body floating at the docks.”

“Will do. Good night, James.”

“Night, Grandfather.”

Without a backward glance, he marched out of the warehouse. Months earlier, Kleya had suggested he switch to wearing black in order to hide the blood stains. His wife was fucking brilliant.

He drove back to Veilstone Tower, where they had moved to after that day.

The day he refused to think about. Ten minutes later, he parked in his designated spot and got on the elevator that only went to his penthouse.

When the doors opened, he saw the two guards he had protecting Kleya twenty-four seven.

They followed her to Lark’s kitchen, as well to any place she volunteered.

They were loyal, and he paid them handsomely for their loyalty.

As soon as the door closed behind him, Kleya came to greet him.

“There’s my beautiful wife,” he said, pulling her into his arms.

“And there’s my handsome husband.”

After a kiss that had his dick standing at attention, he leaned back to look at her. “In one minute, you’re going to tell me I’m the best husband in the world.”

“I’d tell you that right now.”

He smiled. “I’ve found a doctor for the clinic.”

Her mouth dropped over. “Seriously?”

“Serious as a heart attack.”

“That’s amazing.”

One of the main projects Kleya had worked on was a free clinic for those who had no insurance or couldn’t afford seeing a doctor. She even managed to find a psychiatrist.

“You are the best husband in the world,” she mused.

“I told you you’d say that.”

“Well, in a minute you’re going to pass out.”

His brow furrowed. “What? Why?”

She leaned closer. “Because I’m pregnant.”

Honest to God, he did almost pass out.
