Epilogue 5 [E N D ]
“Say ma…ma,” I repeat slowly, sitting cross-legged on the bed with Lucas and Laksh in front of me.
Both of them stare at me with wide, innocent eyes.
For a moment, I feel hopeful.
Maybe today is the day.
Maybe finally—
“Da…da…da…”
Both of them giggle at the same time, clapping their tiny hands like they’ve achieved something great.
I freeze.
Then I slowly close my eyes.
Of course.
I sigh dramatically.
“Unbelievable.”
They just stare at me again, smiling like they’ve done nothing wrong.
I point at them.
“Listen, you two little grapes… I carried you for nine months. I suffered. I cried. I gave birth to you.”
They blink.
Unaffected.
“Not your big father grapes.”
Right on cue, a deep voice comes from behind me.
“I heard that.”
I turn around to see Lorenzo leaning against the doorframe, arms crossed, watching us with that annoying calm expression.
Lucas immediately turns toward him.
“Da!”
Laksh follows.
“Da…da!”
Traitors.
Lorenzo smirks.
I narrow my eyes.
“Don’t look so proud. I’m still their favorite.”
He walks toward us slowly.
“Clearly.”
I glare at him as he picks both of them up effortlessly, one in each arm.
They both giggle like he’s the most interesting person in the world.
I cross my arms.
“This is emotional betrayal.”
Lorenzo leans down slightly, placing a soft kiss on my forehead.
“You’ll survive.”
I try not to smile.
But fail.
Later that afternoon, the mansion is filled with laughter again.
Alexander is trying to teach Laksh how to “high-five,” which ends up with Laksh just slapping his hand repeatedly.
Nisha stands nearby, shaking her head but secretly smiling.
“Congratulations,” she says dryly. “You’ve found someone at your level.”
Alexander looks offended.
“I am highly intelligent.”
Laksh squeals.
Nisha nods.
“Exactly.”
I laugh softly while holding Lucas, who is now more interested in playing with my bangles than anything else.
Lorenzo watches all of this quietly from the couch.
And I can tell…
He’s happy.
A week later…
We’re at the airport.
The twins are dressed in matching outfits, Leo sitting obediently near our luggage, and Lorenzo handling everything like he always does.
“Vacation?” I ask, adjusting my saree as I look at him.
He glances at me.
“You need a break.”
“And you?”
He looks at the twins.
“I already have everything I need.”
My heart softens.
Alexander and Nisha are also here.
Of course they are.
“You’re not coming with us,” I say immediately.
Alexander smiles.
“Too late.”
Nisha sighs.
“I tried to refuse.”
“Liar,” he says.
She glares at him.
I shake my head.
“Unbelievable.”
A few hours later…
We reach our destination.
A beautiful beachside villa, the sound of waves calming everything around us.
The moment we step inside, Lucas lets out a happy sound.
Laksh starts kicking his legs excitedly.
Leo runs ahead like he’s inspecting the entire place.
I walk toward the balcony slowly.
The ocean stretches endlessly in front of me.
Peaceful.
Calm.
Lorenzo comes to stand behind me, his hand wrapping around my waist.
The twins are now in Alexander’s arms, surprisingly calm, while Nisha sits beside him, making sure he doesn’t drop them.
I lean back slightly against Lorenzo.
“It’s beautiful.”
He hums softly.
“Not more than you.”
I roll my eyes.
But smile.
For a moment, everything feels perfect.
No chaos.
No pain.
No past.
Just us.
Our family.
Our future.
Lucas suddenly shouts from behind.
“Da!”
Laksh joins him.
“Da…da!”
I sigh.
Lorenzo chuckles.
I turn around and walk toward them, gently taking both of my sons into my arms.
“One day,” I mumble, “you will say mama first.”
They just giggle again.
And honestly…
I don’t mind waiting.
Because as I look around
At Lorenzo.
At our sons.
And at the people who somehow became family.
I smile softly.
This…
Is enough.
Night falls slowly, wrapping everything in a quiet calm.
The sound of waves fills the villa, soft and soothing.
Inside, the lights are dim, warm.
Lucas and Laksh are still wide awake, full of energy like they slept the entire day just to trouble us at night.
I sit on the couch, trying to calm them down, but they keep giggling and moving around.
“Your sons don’t believe in sleep,” I mutter.
“They’re yours too,” Lorenzo replies calmly.
I give him a look.
Before I can argue more, Alexander suddenly appears.
“Give them to me.”
I blink.
“You?”
“Yes.”
“That’s a terrible idea.”
Nisha walks in behind him, arms crossed.
“I’ll supervise.”
I hesitate for a moment before handing Lucas to Nisha and Laksh to Alexander.
Both of them surprisingly manage to hold the babies properly.
Lucas immediately grabs Nisha’s chain.
Laksh pulls Alexander’s shirt.
Chaos.
I step back slowly.
“If they cry, I’m blaming both of you.”
Alexander smirks.
“They won’t.”
Laksh lets out a loud squeal.
Alexander freezes.
“…They might.”
Nisha sighs but adjusts Lucas gently, rocking him slightly.
“Go,” she says without looking at us. “We’ll handle them.”
I raise an eyebrow.
“You sure?”
She nods.
“For once, trust us.”
Lorenzo doesn’t waste a second.
His hand finds mine, warm and firm.
“Come.”
Before I can say anything else, he pulls me away.
We walk down the quiet hallway toward our room.
The moment the door closes behind us…
Everything feels different.
Peaceful.
Just us.
I move toward the mirror, adjusting my saree, fixing a loose strand of hair.
For a moment, I can feel his gaze on me.
Heavy.
Intense.
I meet his eyes through the mirror.
He’s already looking at me.
There’s something softer in his expression tonight.
Something deeper.
“You’re staring,” I say quietly.
“I always do.”
My lips curve slightly.
I turn around slowly.
Before I can take another step, Lorenzo closes the distance between us.
His hand gently wraps around my waist, pulling me closer.
“Finally,” he murmurs.
I raise an eyebrow.
“Finally?”
“No interruptions.”
I let out a soft laugh.
“That’s because we abandoned our children.”
“They’re in safe hands.”
I tilt my head slightly.
“With Alexander?”
He pauses.
“…Relatively safe.”
I laugh softly, but it fades when his fingers gently tuck a strand of hair behind my ear.
His touch is slow.
Careful.
Like he’s memorizing me all over again.
My breath catches slightly when his hand moves to cup my cheek.
“You’ve been taking care of everyone,” he says quietly.
His thumb brushes against my skin.
“Now it’s my turn.”
My heart softens at his words.
“Lorenzo…”
He doesn’t let me finish.
He leans in, pressing a soft kiss to my forehead first.
Then my cheek.
Then finally…
My lips.
The kiss is slow.
Unhurried.
Different from before.
Not desperate.
Not rushed.
Just… full of everything we’ve been through.
Love.
Comfort.
Home.
I rest my hands against his chest, feeling his heartbeat steady under my touch.
He pulls me closer, his arms tightening slightly around me.
For a moment, the world outside disappears.
No responsibilities.
No chaos.
No past.
Just us.
When he finally pulls back, his forehead rests against mine.
His breath is warm against my skin.
“You’re mine,” he whispers softly.
I smile, my fingers curling slightly into his shirt.
“Always.”
He exhales quietly, like those words mean everything to him.
Then he presses another gentle kiss to my lips.
Slower this time.
Softer.
And as I melt into him, I realize something again—
No matter how chaotic life gets…
No matter how loud the world becomes…
With him…
I will always find my peace.
Hey sweeties
I still can’t believe we’ve reached the end of this journey.
I just want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you who read, supported, voted, and stayed with this story till the very end. Your love truly means everything to me. I love you all so much ??
You won’t believe this, but this story was never supposed to be this story.
At first, I had planned something completely different a single mother trope. I had even written almost 10 chapters of it in my drafts. But suddenly… I don’t know what happened, something just didn’t feel right.
So I deleted everything. And started again.Started this story.
And honestly… it was the best decision I made.
Because of you all, this story turned into something so special. The love, the response, the support I could have never imagined it like this.
Thank you for believing in my story, in my characters, and in me.
