Chapter 9 #4

Despite always parking in the driveway, my cautious companion drove the truck toward the oversized garage and banked it directly inside a vacant bay using an app he had on his phone.

When he cut the engine, I felt my body still thrumming with unspent energy from the creepy experience we’d just shared.

“You can’t tell Ethan what just happened,” I frantically blurted.

“Millie, there’s no way I’m keeping what just happened from my brother,” Flint stated flatly, brooking no arguments.

Tears welled up in my eyes. To my utter embarrassment, that had been happening a lot since yesterday. “He’s never going to let me leave the house if he thinks that was someone from the Tupilaq pack tracking us back there.”

“Probably not,” Flint agreed.

“That’s not fair!” I argued childishly.

Flint sighed. “Things rarely are, Princess.”

I hated when he called me that. It never sounded genuine coming from his lips, like it did from Ethan’s. It was more like a dig than a term of endearment whenever the cocksure ware used it.

I tried another tactic then. “You’d never hide away in your house if someone followed your car around town.”

“We’re not talking about me, a trained marine and a male ware. We’re talking about you, a vulnerable female omega,” Flint reminded me then.

Getting creative, I preyed on his male weakness in an attempt to trick him into submission.

“You don’t think you can keep me safe against another ware?” Sure, it was dirty pool I was playing, but I didn’t want this one incident to force me to quit a job I’d just started and actually liked. “For what it’s worth, I think you could. I can’t imagine another ware being stronger than you.”

Catching onto my game, Flint turned to me and smiled that dangerous smile of his. “Oh, I can keep you safe, babe. I just don’t want to draw any attention to us by having to drop bodies while I’m on my vacation.”

I got desperate then and shouted, “Come on, Flint! Don’t do this to me.

Ethan’s going to keep me hostage in the cabin for the next decade if you tell him a car drove too close to us on the way home from work.

We don’t even know who was behind the wheel.

You said it yourself, it was unlikely that it was anyone from the Tupilaq pack. ”

“Let me tell you something, Millie,” Flint began, as he popped the keys from the ignition and turned to look me dead in the eye, “If you were my mate, you wouldn’t have even been allowed to leave the house in the first place.

Consider yourself lucky you aren’t with me.

Ethan at least gave you a chance at freedom.

That would have never even crossed my mind.

” With that little dramatic speech of his, he opened his door and lithely hoped out.

“You’re a barbarian!” I accused, before reluctantly following him, dreading my conversation with Ethan.

“Yup, I am. Now come on inside, coward,” Flint encouraged, his joking side returning. “Let’s go and tell the class what happened at recess today. Ethan’s going to love it.”

“I’m not quitting my job!” I shouted at Ethan from inside the locked bathroom.

“Come out of there and let’s talk about this,” Ethan called back.

It might have been a reasonable request, but I wasn’t in the mood to be reasonable. I was furious over Flint being a backstabber and going directly to Ethan to tattle about what had happened on our ride home.

For all we knew, that car behind us had been just a bad driver lost in the woods.

Flint couldn’t prove it was affiliated with the Tupilaq pack.

That didn’t matter to Ethan, though. He was too dead set on keeping me behind closed doors for the rest of my miserable life to even listen to any potential explanations.

Not that I’d actually waited around to find out what he had to say.

As soon as I’d gotten into the house, I’d scurried upstairs to our bedroom and locked myself in the master bathroom.

Smelling like a cloying mixture of coffee and desserts, the sickly-sweet scent all over me was starting to give me a headache.

I needed a shower to cleanse the sweat and stress of the day off my skin and hair.

“Millie,” Ethan said calmly, in lieu of the warning growl I just knew he was dying to issue.

Stripping off my t-shirt and pants, I ignored Ethan’s second attempt at reaching me.

He was using a deep, measured tone that meant business.

His authoritative side sent a thrill of excitement darting through me and a dampness to leak between my thighs.

I liked when he asserted himself. Besides getting me wet, it made me embarrassingly weak in the knees and caused my heart to flutter with anticipation over what he might do next.

Turning on the shower, I let my fingers play under the stream as the water heated up.

“Millie!” Ethan spoke sharply once again. “Open this door right now, or I’ll open it for you!”

He wouldn’t dare, I thought as I unclipped my tight bra, letting my breasts free from boob jail. As soon as they were exposed to the cool air of the bathroom, the nipples became as hard and pointed as ice chips.

“I warned you,” Ethan stated, before I heard his shoulder ram against the solid wooden barrier with clear intent.

Ethan

I was acting like an absolute animal, but nothing was going to keep me from my mate. This wooden door didn’t stand a chance the second I decided it was standing in between me and Millie.

Growling, I crouched low and struck the butt of my shoulder just above the lock. The direct hit, mingled with the proper placement, popped it open in one go.

Millie let out a strangled cry as I invaded the bathroom. Closing the distance between us, my large frame dominated both her and this space.

I should feel like a brute, forcing my way in like this, but I didn’t care. An unstoppable urge came over me the second we were separated. No matter if it was for a day or an hour, I hated being apart from my mate. Especially after what Flint had told me.

Somebody had followed them home today after Millie’s shift at the coffee house.

My brother was certain of it. And I never had, nor would I ever, doubt his tracking skills.

They were unparalleled. The moment Flint relayed this disturbing information to me, I’d whited out with rage.

When I called Millie’s name to come and talk to me about the incident and found she’d run from me, the flames of my ire had only been stoked hotter.

I hadn’t known being mated would feel like this.

It was like I was unhinged. I’d always loved Millie, but this was different.

Like night is from day, this love went to the very marrow of my bones.

It pumped through my veins like lightning and gave my muscles the energy they needed to overcome any obstacle.

Millie’s life being threatened made me need to smell her intoxicating scent.

See her beautiful face. Taste her soft skin.

I had to know everything with my mate was okay.

Nothing short of holding her in my arms, and tying her to me with my knot, was going to quiet that disturbed voice in my head that demanded she be near.

“Ethan!” Millie squeaked, her hands trying to shelter her breasts and pussy from my view.

I was beyond words. My inner wolf had risen to the surface and could no longer be silenced by my human side.

Detesting her attempt at hiding from me, I snarled and my mate’s hands dropped to her womb and her hips suddenly jerked forward.

She was responding to my call like a good omega should.

But that wasn’t all I needed from her. She was going to have to do so much more than weep slick from that delicious cunt of hers to calm my anger.

She was going to have to give me every little filthy thing I craved and more.

Caging her against the wall, I growled again.

In response, Millie moaned long and low.

The scent of her cream curled into my nostrils as she futilely resisted against my chest. That mouthwatering aroma caused my already stiff cock to harden to steel and strain against the soft fabric of my sweatpants.

My own precum secreted from my mushroom tip, soaking through my boxers.

I mourned every lost drop, because it meant it wasn’t in the body of my mate and thus had been wasted.

Despite our closeness, I needed closer. Gathering her two hands in my one, I plucked her wrists off my chest and dragged them above her head.

My towering frame engulfed her much smaller one, and my hips pinned her against the wall.

She wasn’t going anywhere. Not until I pummeled that magnificent pussy of hers into submission with all of my pent-up rage.

Nipping the vulnerable skin on her neck, I got close to her ear and growled, “On your knees, mate. If you’re not going to talk to me like I asked, you’re going to put that sweet mouth of yours to use in another way.”

Quivering in place, Millie’s lids drooped to half-mast as she unconsciously licked her lips. “Ethan, I want to talk about what happened-,”

Wrapping my hand in her loose, dark locks, I cut her off by slowly shaking my head. “Your time for talking has expired. Get on your knees.”

Millie slid to her knees without another word of protest. With her back literally against the wall, I had complete control of her, which is exactly what I needed in this moment.

My pulsing cock was so filled with blood, it nestled against my belly and angled toward the ceiling like a god damned arrow pointing true north.

“Open up,” I rasped, feeling clumsy with my suppressed wolf strength and my overwhelming lust for my beautiful mate. It had been far too long since I’d shifted forms. I was going to have to rectify that soon.

Snagging the elastic of my sweatpants, I shucked them past my ass, exposing my throbbing cock to the cool air.

Those hypnotic ocean blue orbs of Millie’s collided with mine. Then her gaze fell to the raging monster between my legs and her tense jaw unhinged.
