7. Blythe #2

Unstrapping him, I let his body fall to the floor. I looked at him in disgust with tears, slobber and snot covering his face.

“Get the fuck out. And you have one week to make shit right or everything we did here gets leaked to the news.” I seethed before walking towards the door. I didn’t even give a fuck that he didn’t crawl out. He ran out naked with his clothes clutched tightly in his hands.

I sent a message to the clean-up crew and went up to my place to shower.

“You wanna talk about it?” Autumn sat next to me on my balcony. She showed up 45 minutes later, she knew when I needed her and she always came running. We opted to skip alcohol tonight because she knew I would have gotten drunk and cried. So, we passed a blunt back and forth and vibed to music.

“Not really.” I spoke back. I was tired of my past and wanted to rid myself of the thoughts and fears.

“Okay, you know I got you no matter what.” I looked over and caught the gaze she was giving me.

She was truly my world, and I appreciated her always holding me down.

I reached out my pinky, and she interlocked hers before we pressed our thumbs together.

This was something we started years ago.

She knew I hated physical touch, but she loved it.

This was our compromise. It symbolized our loyalty to each other always with a pinky promise.

“This is my song.” She stood to her feet and swayed to the beat as Jhene Aiko sang about how creative the man was making love to her body, but she didn’t want his heart she just wanted to fuck.

We were both so obsessed with her sultry voice.

I often listened to her to keep my mind in a mellow place.

I watched Autumn throw her hands in the air and dance like she didn’t have a care in the world.

Slow rocking and caressing her body. I knew she was feeling the blunt we smoked because she always turned into a midnight ballerina when she was feeling good.

I couldn’t help but watch her in admiration.

She embodied the person I wish I could be.

Carefree, but I couldn’t I was trapped by the demons of my past and they had my ass in the chokehold.

“Dance with me B.” She made her way over to me just as ‘While We’re Young’ played through the speaker I had set up on my balcony, another classic by Jhene.

“Now you know I don’t dance.” I replied before taking a drink of my water. My throat was dry from the weed smoke and the dry crispness in the air.

“I know you don’t, but no one is here but you and I. Live a little honey. You deserve it.” She grabbed me by the hand and pulled me from my chair.

Interlocking our fingers she pulled me to mimic her sways. Raising our hands she twirled me around and I chuckled at her playful ass.

“We should say fuck everyone and walk hand and hand into the sun.” She sang to me before releasing my hand and turning to dance slowly.

Closing my eyes I swayed getting lost in her words. The wind blew slightly and I inhaled deep before intensifying my dance. I tossed my hands in the air and moved my hips. Grinding and swaying I felt built up tension release from my body.

I refused to stop dancing; I twirled and moved in sync with her words.

I was feeling free for the first time. I felt as if my body was floating, not even the ache in my toes could make me think I was anywhere but in the clouds.

Above the mess and cruel world. Above the men that destroy young girls and make you feel less than what your worth.

Autumn’s gentle hand startled me and caused me to float back down to reality.

Looking into her eyes she looked at me with sympathy.

Stretching her arms out I walked into her embrace without a single flinch.

Laying my head on her shoulder I cried from what felt like the depths of my soul.

She rubbed my back and rocked back and forth allowing me to get it all out.

We stayed like that for what felt like hours before she helped me get cleaned up and climbed in the bed with me. We both laid there staring at the ceiling lost in our own thoughts.

“I met a guy.” She spoke; I could hear the slight smile in her words.

“Really, tell me more.” I turned my head in her direction to give her my attention.

I knew she was trying to get me out of my head by changing the subject and I appreciated it.

I was also intrigued. It’s been a while since she spoke about a guy so I know he must have been special.

My girl was a hopeless romantic but was on a hiatus from men.

“He’s a doctor, we met at the Wednesday lounge.” I listened intently to her talk about the man that had her smitten. She talked for what felt like hours before she talked herself to sleep.

I pulled the covers over her and laid down with her.

My mind drifted to Pharaoh. It was nice to talk with someone that didn’t have intentions on harming me.

He listened to me geek out about numbers and seemed intrigued, asking follow up questions.

Never interrupting me or adding his unsolicited opinion.

Everything was smooth until he asked me about my family.

I am not usually that easily triggered but he made me feel.

That was different for me and possibly dangerous.

Feelings get you in trouble and force you to let your guard down.

I can’t afford to let my guard down and get hurt again.

Even if it was by someone like Pharaoh that could probably handle everything about me. And even be worth the hurt.
