Epilogue Part One

IZZY

About seven months later:

“Ahhhhh….. I need to get to the hospital. NOW!!!” I yell at Cason while walking out the front door to the car. He’s still freaking out in the kitchen. Luckily, he knows where his keys are at. It’s everything else he’s seemed to have lost. Things like the go bag, his cell phone, and his damn mind.

“Hayden, I swear to god, if you don’t back the hell off me, I’m going to punch you straight in the dick, and you know I can,” I hear Piper say, walking from her yard into ours. If these damn contractions weren’t such a bitch, I would have laughed.

“I heard you yelling and figured we’d come to see if y’all were alright,” Piper asks, waddling up to my side, out of breath.

“This little lady has decided to come a bit early. My water broke in the kitchen,” I tell her, taking a deep breath.

“My water broke too!!” she screams excitedly before bending over in pain as a contraction hits her as well.

“Here, let me carry you. Why did I let you walk your sexy ass over here? We should be heading to the hospital,” Swift says, grumbling and obviously just as disheveled as Cason.

“We can ride to the hospital together!” Piper says, and I agree.

“If Cason ever GETS HIS ASS OUT HERE!” I say, yelling the last part.

“What the fuck is he doing in there?” Swift asks impatiently.

“Looking for his balls, I keep in my purse?” I say, shrugging. Apparently, labor and pregnancy have made me a mouthy bitch, but right now, I just want some meds to eliminate this pain.

“I’m coming, I’m coming,” Cason says, finally coming out the door. We rush to the hospital and are put in the same delivery room. Piper starts pushing immediately, but the doctor looks at me, worry in his eyes.

“The cord is wrapped around her neck. We need to do an emergency C-Section right now,” the doctor orders. I’m only able to get one glimpse of Cason’s worried face as he leans down and kisses me before they rush me off to the operating room.

“Where is Cason? I need him here!’ I tell the nurse as she hangs the curtain between my belly and my shoulders.

“I’m here, Angel. Right here, you know I’ll never leave my loves,” he says, coming from behind my head. I start to cry as I imagine the worst for my baby. The cord cutting off her throat has her heart rate dropping, and I’m scared. Even as Cason is trying to calm me, I can tell that he’s scared, too.

Finally, after what felt like hours but was probably only minutes, we hear our baby girl cry. They take her out of the room, and I look at Cason.

“Follow her; make sure she’s okay,” I tell him, seeing how torn he is between the two of us. Eventually, he leans in, kissing me before heading off in the direction they took our daughter. The doctors finish sewing me up before they roll me down the hall back toward the room.

“We are short on rooms; you will be put back with the woman you came in with,” one of the snotty nurses says. It doesn’t bother me because I wanted to be with Piper anyway. They wheel me in, and I’m still all types of loopy. Even with the shadows, what I see melts my heart. I can only see their shapes, but I see Swift leaning down over Piper and a small bundle in her arms.

“You did it, mama. Congratulations,” I tell them both.

“Thank you, mama! I heard you did it as well. Where is your bundle?” Piper asks me.

“Cason should be bringing her in soon,” I say, and right on cue, as soon as the bed is placed in its spot, Cason walks in, rolling a baby cart. With him is a figure, I’m guessing a nurse, following not far behind.

“Sir, we need to take her to the nursery for a bit,” the woman complains.

“The doctor assured me she was fine. He also said I could bring her in here after her bath. It’s after her bath. Now get the fuck away from me and my daughter. She needs to see her mama,” Cason says, not stopping until he’s at my side.

“Causing trouble already, Hitter?” Swift chuckles while Cason flips him off. He reaches down and picks up our baby girl, placing her in my arms.

“She’s so beautiful,” I whisper, rubbing her face.

“She’s perfect, just like her mama,” Cason tells me, kissing me on my forehead. It makes me think back to that day months ago, being thrown off those stairs, that hospital stay, the pain of recovering. It was all worth it to see my baby girl.

“Y’all got a name picked out yet?” Cason asks, moving toward Piper and her baby boy while Swift moves closer to me.

“Yeah, I’d like you to meet our son, Bronx,” Piper says with a smile in her voice.

“What are you naming this beautiful little princess?” Swift asks as he rubs a finger down our baby girl’s tiny cheek.

“Well, Uncle Swift, you can be the first to meet our baby girl, Jett,” I tell him, smiling.

“Jett? That’s beautiful! How did you come up with that?” Piper asks.

“She’s named after the man who saved both our lives,” I tell them, looking at Hitter.

“Swift knows, but Piper, you might not know Dread’s real name was Jettson,” Hitter says, sharing a look with Swift before they hug, remembering the life of their friend, their brother, and our savior.
