Chapter nine
Angel picked up her cell phone, not recognizing the number. "Angel," she answered.
"Angel? Angel Johansson?"
That irritated her already, not wanting her dinner and her book interrupted. "Who wants to know?"
"I may have a job for you. I need a little PR control. You up to it?"
"Maybe." She sat her book down on the coffee table. She hadn't done more than studio work lately, and she was itching to get back in the field. "Again, who wants to know?"
"Stewart Jessop. I manage the Princeton Kawasaki team for Supercross. Are you familiar with Davey McAllister?"
She thought about it for a moment. She didn't follow dirt bike racing much, but she'd done a few photo shoots and some action shots about a year ago for a different team. "I guess." She had Internet; she could look him up. "What's the problem?"
"No problem, but I don't want there to be one, either. I think we need some good publicity is all. He's going to take the championship, either this year or next, but, Princeton thinks it's important to have a good image, and Davey tends to stay out of the limelight."
"So, what you need is an image boost? That's different than PR control."
"How about if you come to our race in Atlanta and see for yourself what we need? You're the pro."
"Okay, fine. I'll see you, Mr. Jessop." She tapped the call off before getting any further information. She saved his digits into her contacts so she could call him after assessing the situation in Atlanta, but she'd have to do some homework first.
Angel flicked her tablet on, ready to search.
After googling Davey, Supercross, and even Jessop and the sponsor, she still wasn't sure what kind of job this would be.
True there wasn't much in the current media on McAllister, but what she could find had all been positive.
He looked like the All-American clean-cut kid.
Aside from having a rich father who died, he was just like anyone else.
There had to be more to the story than Jessop let on.
His initial query was "PR Control" and Angel knew better than anyone what that meant. He was trying to hide something.
Intrigued, she booked a plane ticket to Atlanta.
