Chapter twenty-four
Tyler jumped up and looked around the dark room, his heart pounding.
"Tyler?"
He turned to see the outline of Davey's body next to him and breathed out deeply.
"For a minute, I didn't know where I was.
" He leaned into Davey's chest and dragged the tips of his fingers lightly down the inside of Davey's arm, making him shiver for a second before Davey wrapped his arms around Tyler.
"You're here with me, where you belong, baby."
Tyler loved hearing the possessiveness in Davey's words, but it worried him a bit as well.
It implied a deep committed relationship.
Tyler wanted that, but not if they had to stay in the closet.
His heart still felt the same conflicted arguments.
He stuffed it down, though. This was not the time to pick a fight about it.
He kissed Davey's chest, feeling the vibrations Davey made as he crooned softly. "I have to go work out, baby. You get some sleep, and then we'll do breakfast by the pool."
"Okay, baby."
Even though they were technically on vacation, Tyler knew Davey still had to stick to some sort of schedule or routine.
He couldn't eat steak and pizza every night, and although Tyler had a few beers, Davey never did.
He might sip some wine with dinner, but otherwise he stuck to water.
He didn't even drink soda. He had to work out at least twice a day, whether that meant in his gym, in the pool, or on the track.
Tyler hoped they'd get a little more time on the track. He loved riding with Davey.
He let his lover slip out of bed, and then he rolled into the warm spot Davey had left.
He snuggled up to his pillow, inhaling the warm scent that was Davey.
He didn't know how he'd be able to go on with his life without waking up to the smell and feel of Davey every morning.
He didn't want to think about it. He let himself drift off with Davey's warm pillow clutched to his chin and chest.
