CHAPTER 6

SPOOK

Iwatch Honor’s ass disappear around the doorway and shake my head. She is going to be the death of me.

This last week has been hell. I’m not sure I jacked off this much when I was a teenager. Knowing she is in my house, in my guest bed, had me harder than rock. And I’d endured plenty of shit from the brothers about my dick entering the room before I did.

I’d promised a week, she’d taken it, and made good use of it. She spent time with Axle and Angel, at the garden centre, but most of her time was spent with my boys.

The bond she’d started first with Mason, then with Reed that first day, had only grown the more time she spent with them. If it had been anyone else, I’d have wondered if she was using them to get to me. Not Honor though, she was an open book.

It worried me, her softness, and how she would take to living an outlaw life. I wasn’t going to give her up though. I’d cushion her as much as I could, and I knew my brothers would too. It’s why I loved the brotherhood. They had your back no matter what.

What I wasn’t prepared for was the way my heart stuttered in my chest, or the warmth that filled me when the boys had disappeared the first morning, she was with us. I’d gone looking for them, and found them snuggled up in bed with her.

After that first morning, I didn’t even try to stop them from waking her up.

If I was honest with myself, I loved the way we started our days, and I could imagine doing this for as long as we could; until the boys got too old to want to do it. I imagined more kids. Little girls with her blonde hair, beautiful eyes, and sweetness.

Was a week too soon to be having thoughts like this?

Who the fuck knew?

I’d never lived by anyone’s rules but my own, and I wasn’t about to start now. None of those closest to us had problems with it. If anything, Maverick and Axle were all for it, and if Axle was on board, then Roman would be too.

Jesus Christ, I’d known it that first day. The first time I’d seen her, I was fucked.

I was done fighting it. I’d given her a week. Tonight, she was mine.

Laughter and little boy chatter break through my thoughts. Shaking my head, I gather up the cups and tray, walk out of Honor’s room, and into the kitchen.

As usual, it is mayhem, and a mess because Honor has no problem letting the boys help. It is also filled with little boy giggles and soft feminine laughter. Something I’d never had as a kid. But it was something I was bloody happy my boys did.

Instead of complaining or getting annoyed about the mess, which would have definitely happened in my house growing up, I went along behind them and filled the dishwasher and wiped down the counters.

By the time we sit at the table with fluffy pancakes, bacon, fresh fruit, and fresh mugs of coffee for Honor and me, the kitchen is mostly back to normal, but the happiness and laughter linger .

“You okay, honey? You’re quiet this morning.” At Honor’s softly spoken question, I looked up from my breakfast.

Seeing the concern in her gaze, I smile. “Yeah, baby. Just thinking that this is perfect.”

Her smile broke through like sunshine on a rainy day. She nodded, seemingly satisfied with my answer, and went back to eating, chatting, and helping me with the boys.

An hour later, they left in a flurry of laughter, jackets, hats, and gloves pulled on, to combat the cold front that had arrived. I had a feeling we’d have snow for Thanksgiving.

With Honor and the boys gone, the house was empty, and too quiet.

Taking out my phone, I messaged Maverick.

Me: Want to go for a ride before we have to park the bikes for winter?

Mav: Fuck yeah. Club or just us?

It didn’t take me long to think about it. There was nothing better than riding with our brothers.

Me: Club. We can ride to Lala’s and have lunch. I’ll let her know to expect us.

Mav: I’ll send out a message to the brothers. Ten minutes?

Me: Good with me.

Not a minute later, my phone buzzed in the group chat we had for all the brothers, letting everyone know we were riding.

I called Lala, who was thrilled to feed us, as I’d known she’d be. She was closest to Axle and Roman, but after Axle had met Angel, she’d somehow become part of the club, and most tended to treat her as a beloved grandmother. She lapped it up.

I knew Axle wished she lived closer. We’d have to think of a way to make that happen.

It was a little longer than ten minutes, but almost all of the brothers turned up, like I expected they would.

Most of our businesses had managers, and good ones.

We paid them well to ensure that, should anything happen to us, nothing would change when it came to earnings.

The club came first, always, and that meant our brothers and their families, needed to be taken care of.

BB, as our Road Captain, led us out the gate with Maverick next, then me, then the rest of the brothers falling naturally into formation positions, with Stout taking up the rear, as our Tailgunner.

BB took us on a two-hour ride.

With every mile, the tension eased, carried off on the wind. For those two hours, I didn’t think or worry about anything as the miles passed.

My boys were covered and being cared for by Honor, and she was safe at the garden centre, with Angel and her family. Jake and Fern were still here, and for once, nothing was pressing in on me.

It felt good to be with my brothers and remember why I chose this life.

When we stopped outside Lala’s, I had to laugh at the groans, as the brothers got off their bikes. You’d think we were in our eighties.

“You brothers need more gym time,” Carnage said, looking at us and shaking his head in disgust. “Seriously, anyone would think you never ride, and we’ve still got an hour's ride home. What the fuck?”

He wasn’t wrong. While most of us were in shape, some of the brothers could do with adding an exercise regime to their days.

“Fuck, I hate the gym in town,” Roman grumbled. “It’s filthy, and the machines are crap.”

“You’re not wrong,” I agreed, taking off my helmet. “You know you can use the one at Hit It.”

“Yeah, but it’s your workplace, brother, and it’s for your employees. You know we try to keep our shit separate,” he reminded me.

Fuck, he was right.

My eyes met Maverick’s, and he nodded. We were on the same page. It helped that we’d been friends for so long. We could read each other without saying a word.

“Carnage.”

Our Sergeant at Arms looked at me. “VP?”

“Find out if the gym in town is for sale, and if it is, how much they want for it. If the price is reasonable, we’ll buy it. It’s a good investment. If it’s not, Stout or Beard can decide how much one will cost to build, and we’ll find a place on the property for one. I’d rather make money though.”

Carnage flashed me a grin, and I’m taken aback. It wasn’t often our serious brother smiled.

“No problem, VP. I’ll get the information to you by the end of today.”

“Nope.” I shook my head. “Bring it to church. I’ve got plans tonight.”

The brothers laughed.

“Must have been a long week, brother.” BB smirked, clapping my shoulder. “How’s those balls? A little blue?”

“Fuck off, BB,” I growled, swinging off my bike.

I knew he was messing with me, but I wouldn’t be me if I took it, and didn’t hit back.

He snorts out a laugh, and I can’t help but grin, as the rest of the brothers join in. It wasn’t lost on any of us that I’d been a horny fucker all fucking week. No amount of jacking off had helped with that.

“Come on, you dirty fuckers,” Axle growled. “Let’s eat before one of you says something that has either me or the VP kicking your ass.”

“All right, all right.” BB held his hands up, shaking his head. “Just jerking your chain, VP. We’re happy for you.”

“I know, BB.” I clasped his shoulder and turned him towards the diner, pushing him in front of me. “But Axle’s right. I’ll kick your ass if you say anything about Honor.”

He sent me a horrified look. “I would never disrespect Honor. You? Yes. All day, every day. That sweet angel? Never.”

BB walked into the diner, grumbling under his breath.

Fucking brothers. But I’ve got a smile curling my lips.

I know the brothers like Honor. They have from the first day, when she’d been friendly to them all. Over the last week, I’d watched as each one approached her; they were taking her measure. Not just for me, but also because of the boys.

Looks like she passed with flying colours.

Not that I had any doubt she would. My woman was sweet as pie. But that first day, we’d also seen that she wasn’t a pushover.

I liked that.

I was a possessive fucker, and I’d run roughshod over a weaker woman. I had a feeling Honor would let me, up to a point. Then she’d push back.

I was looking forward to tonight, but right now I was going to enjoy time with the brothers.

Lala greeted each of us as we walked in the door, and like the saps we were, we all bent, so she could kiss and pat our cheeks. Every one of us glaring at the customers side-eyeing us, until they looked away.

Lala was ours. Under our protection.

And it was good to remind people of that now and again.

When I greeted Lala, I asked if she’d make me up some to-go containers of food that I could easily heat. I wanted all my attention to be on Honor, and not on cooking.

It was a good day.

We enjoyed lunch, and then the hour ride back to the clubhouse.

“Fuck, that was good,” Maverick said, taking off his helmet and leaning it on the gas tank. “Didn’t realise how badly I needed to get out and ride.”

“Yeah,” I agreed. “Reckon we can get another one in before we have to park the bikes?”

Maverick scratched his chin. “Maybe, I’ll have BB check the weather and set something up. What about a Sunday. That way you men with Ol’ Ladies can take them with you.”

Now we’re talking.

Nothing I’d like better than having Honor on the back of my bike, curled around me.

“You set it, and I’ll organise a sitter for the boys,” I said.

Maverick grinned and slapped my shoulder. “Will do, brother. Come on, I’ll head home with you and pick up my nephews, so you can have your Ol’ Lady to yourself.”
