CHAPTER 10

SPOOK

It’s late evening. I’d spent most of the morning buried in Honor who, against my better judgment, persuaded me she was fine. Trouble, that’s what she is. I wasn’t going to be able to say no to her.

I left her and the boys snuggled up on the couch, not ten minutes ago watching a movie, and I was already itching to get back to them.

If it hadn’t been me that had called for this meeting, I’d have cancelled it. But I needed to get the vote so that I could order her patch.

I already had three of my guys on the way to the Nelsons to pick up the vehicles. Can’t lie, I was jonesing to get a look at them. Maybe Axle and North could do something similar for us.

Maverick’s the first in. He stops. Looks at me, then guffaws. “Looking a little worn out, brother,” he smirks in amusement.

“Fuck off, Mav,” I reply with a yawn, rubbing my hands over my face.

I hadn’t spent a night like last night in years.

Maybe, Carnage was right. I needed to up my workout, or invest in some vitamins.

Because now that I’d had her, I wasn’t going to be able to get enough.

“You’d be too if you had someone like Honor waiting for you. ”

He drops into his chair and turns to look at me. “I’m happy for you brother. She’s perfect for you. The right amount of steel wrapped in a layer of softness.”

He’s not wrong. Honor was no pushover.

The rest of the brothers start to file in, one at a time.

Some quiet, others loud, but the overall feeling of brotherhood fills the room.

Fuck. I love my brothers. Makes me wish I hadn’t given so many years of my life to the CIA.

But then I’d not have my business, and a way to keep our club safe, if I needed to.

Maverick lifts the pipe that sits in front of him and taps it on the plough disc that hangs next to him. “Church is in session.”

The brothers quiet down and look towards him. He smirks, “I think we all know why we’re here, and if you don’t, where the fuck have you been the last week?” Chuckles and low laughter fill Church as I roll my eyes. “Spook you got something to say?”

I give him the middle finger, before I reply, “Yeah Pres, I do.”

Fucker! Best friends are a pain in the ass.

I give a brief shake of my head. Tilting my head, I inform the brothers, “I’m making Honor my Ol’ Lady.”

Church erupts with laughter. “Just like that?” Mamba chuckles, “no voting? Nothing?”

“Nope,” I shake my head. “Not giving you fuckers a chance to say no. You all pushed for this from day one. Now you live with your actions.”

More hilarity ensues. Mav taps the pipe to the plough disc. Some cringe at the noise as it rings out loud through church. “Order, you fuckheads. We still have to vote no matter what Spook says. Axle, she’s your daughter, you start.”

Axle eyes me steadily, and I can’t lie, my asshole puckers a little wondering what he’s thinking. Finally, after making me sweat it out a bit, he asks, “You love her?”

Church silences. You could hear a pin drop, as the brothers’ eyes ping pong between us.

“To the depths of my soul,” I tell him truthfully.

He tips his chin and I read the relief on his face. He’s happy his daughter, who he knew nothing about until recently, wouldn't be going anywhere.

“She love you?” he wants to know.

“She does,” I reassure him. “I’ll take good care of her Axle,” I promise him.

He inclines his head and turns to Mamba. “It’s an aye from me,” he says, softly.

Tension leaches from the room, and one-by-one the brothers vote. Not a single nay. Never thought I’d have an Ol’ Lady, but fuck if I’m not thrilled. I’d go as far as to say I’m ecstatic.

“We’ll party this weekend,” Maverick says. “Petit, Mamba organise it. Axle you or Roman reach out to Lala for the food.”

Maverick ends church, and we file out. I have a congratulatory drink with my brothers, but all my attention is on home, and what’s waiting for me there.
