Vivianna #3

I tried not to giggle at her reaction, but it was true.

Now that he was right in front of me, the light breeze covered me in his scent.

I saw a bead of sweat roll down his neck, and I wanted to follow its trail down his chest with my tongue.

I looked up to see that he was watching me with a hunger in his eyes that I’m sure reflected my own.

Damn, girl, what have you done to me?

Oh, that’s not me, that’s all him. His male pheromones are out on parade, trying to catch the attention of yours truly.

I felt myself leaning closer to breathe in more of his enticing fragrance. Tavas grabbed the basket and stood, cutting off my access to him. I followed suit and stood up, unsure of what to do next.

“I found some blackberry bushes that we should check out. I make a killer blackberry cobbler, if we can find enough for me to use,” Tavas said as he led the way to the bushes.

They grew five feet tall and were dense, the berries ripe and plentiful. The trickiest part was avoiding the thorns. Tavas and I worked in comfortable silence for a while, until I got too curious to keep silent.

“Darius mentioned that you’re an Alpha in Waiting. What does that mean?”

Tavas’s finger paused in the process of picking, but after a moment, he resumed his work. “My father is still the acting alpha of our pack. When he dies or steps down, I’ll take over unless one of my younger brothers challenges me.”

I looked at him, surprised. “Your brothers would fight you?”

“I have two twin younger brothers, and one of them is also an alpha. Right now, with them being much younger than me, I don’t have too much to worry about. But yes, I wouldn’t put it past him to challenge me one day,” Tavas said.

“How much younger are they? Come to think of it, I never asked how old you are,” I said, peering at him out of the corner of my eye. My guess was that he was early thirties.

“I’m forty-nine, and my brothers are twenty,” he answered and paused, waiting for my reaction.

“I’m sorry, you’re forty-nine? There’s no way! You look way too good to be that old,” I said, turning to get a better look at him.

Sure, he had some wrinkles, but they were normal for anyone past the age of twenty-one. He had no gray hair, and even his hands—the true indicator of age—looked like they belonged on a much younger man.

Never knew we had a sugar daddy fetish, but damn, it’s totally working for me.

“I guess we forgot to mention that werewolves can live to be well over a hundred. I’ve heard back in the day some could live past two hundred,” Tavas said, smirking at me.

“Wow, then I guess your mom wasn’t so surprised to have kids twenty odd years apart,” I said, trying to wrap my head around this information.

“Their mom isn’t the same as mine. My father doesn’t have a mate, he just has females he breeds with,” Tavas said with something close to bitterness in his voice. “Truth be told, none of us know who our mothers are. Once we were old enough not to need them, we were strictly under his care.”

I frowned at that. Even though my mother wasn’t an award-winning mom, I couldn’t imagine growing up with no mother at all.

Then I remembered that I didn’t have a mom, I just had an incubator that gave birth to me.

As that bitter thought crossed my mind, I grabbed onto a thorn-covered branch instead of the berry I’d been reaching for.

I yelped and jerked my hand away, watching as blood welled up on two puncture marks on my pointer finger.

I was about to bring it up to my mouth to clean it off when Tavas beat me to it.

I froze as he slipped my finger into his mouth and gently sucked on it.

His tongue ran along the length, making my stomach clench and my lady bits tingle.

He watched my reaction to his ministrations, and whatever my face showed made his eyes light with desire.

Shit, if I didn’t do something soon, I was going to jump him right here in the garden.

I needed to go for a run or find a gym to work off this wanton need that was pulsing through my body.

Yes, let’s go for a run, wolf-style.

“Wanna go for a run?” I blurted out, catching him off guard as I jerked my hand back.

“A run?” Tavas questioned, raising an eyebrow.

I nodded my head up and down like an idiot, too flustered to speak coherently. “Yeah, as wolves.”

“I don’t know about that. It’s the middle of the day, and I think we’ve pushed Darius to the limits of rule breaking he can handle today,” Tavas said, eyes flicking back to the house, a crease between his brows.

“Fuck Darius. Come on, it’ll be fun. We can stick to the forest. I heard you guys talking; there’s no one close for miles. Please, please, pretty please, with a cherry on top,” I said, giving him my best attempt at puppy-dog eyes.

Tavas sighed and hung his head in defeat. “Fine, but we can’t be gone too long.”

“Deal! Now turn around, I’m going to get naked,” I said, twirling my finger for him to look away.

Oh yeah, it’s about to get wolfy up in here.
