The pain that I had been hiding from was like a burning dagger in my heart, but it refused to kill me, no it let me linger alive enough to be tormented.

“They will die by my hand so that they might know the pain they have put me through. I will crush their empire until all that is left to remember them is the blood stains on the dirt where they lay dying. No more shall werewolves or humans live in fear of their tyranny.”
“Viv, we do this together or so help me god, I will turn that ass of yours red and you won’t be able to sit for a week,” Rik growled.
His threat sent tingles down my spine, knowing that he never made empty threats. “I wouldn’t have it any other way, my loves.”

The sadness I’d been able to hide from started creeping back, as I remembered making that very same promise to Hope.
Rik growled and gripped my jaw forcing me to look at him.
“Don’t you dare think like that, I know you Viv.
You did everything you could to keep our daughter safe, better yet, you kept yourself alive so we can go find her.
If you hadn’t made it out, none of us would have known to look for her.
I won’t allow you to believe that you’re a failure, no matter what I have to do to correct that thinking. ”
Darius reached out and gripped Rik’s shoulder. “Ease up a little, we’re all a little raw at the moment.”
Pulling my head out of his grip I placed a soft kiss on Rik’s lips before gliding my nose along his.
“It’s going to take time for me to heal, and with that comes doubt, anger, and going through all the what if’s about the situation.
I’ll need a daily reminder of what the truth is, can you do that for me?
” I asked knowing he needed to do something to help me through this.
“For you sweetheart, I will tell you twice a day,” He sighed, returning the caress before he pulled back giving me space.
I looked at all my mates sitting there watching me with various levels of concern and sadness. I’d had over a week to come to terms with all of this information, but for them it had been moments and I needed to understand that.
“What do you say to a cuddle pile and a nap before I show the rest of you how much I missed you all?” I inquired.
Their answer was to pull back the covers of the bed we were on and place me in the middle.

“It doesn’t surprise me that you have some PTSD after all you’ve been through, but I promise next time we will make sure you know where everyone is until we have our bonds again,” Tav assured me, combing his fingers through my hair.
I reached up with my free hand and pulled him down for a kiss, needing to ground myself in reality. They were here and I was going to be alright.
