Vivianna #2
After receiving orders, everyone went off to do as I’d asked, leaving the space with only a few of us left.
Darius had put the information on some type of encrypted server so we could work through it on a tablet versus a computer.
This would also make things easier for me to read with only one eye, putting it in a more comfortable situation for myself.
I wandered to the front room where I could stretch out on the couch, and the light was bright, making it easier to see everything clearly.
Once logged into the information, I looked over the folders to get a feel for what was even in this damn database.
There were a lot of medical and research terms, phases of projects, and chemical equations that I struggled to understand, since it was far above my skill level.
What did catch my eye was a folder title—Test Subjects and Results.
When I clicked on the file, it opened to a list of names that went on and on as I scrolled, with dates ranging back to the late seventies.
Opening the oldest option, it was scanned copies of research and doctors’ notes about a woman named Tammy.
There wasn’t as much data, since they didn’t have the testing like they do now, and it seemed whatever they did to her killed her.
From what I could gather, she was a werewolf and instead of helping her get pregnant, they tried to change her DNA as an adult.
She wasn’t their first subject either, but she had lasted the longest, giving them hope they were on the right track.
Backing out of that folder, I randomly picked another that was ten years later.
They had come to terms that it couldn’t be done to an adult, so they changed to children.
The moment I saw that, I exited out of the folder, tossing the tablet to the ground, clutching my head at the horror of what that information told me.
Children… these bastards had tested on innocent children.
Just when I didn’t think I could hate them more.
Hold on to that anger, because when we finally get our hands on them, their death won’t be slow. You should memorize everything they’ve done to all these women and repay the favor.
I agree with you, but how the fuck does someone become that twisted to stoop to that level.
Creating something and it not surviving is one thing, but to take a normal child that had a full life ahead of them is just sick.
Everything about them is disgusting, vile, sadistic, in every sense of the word.
Not that this would make anything right, but do you think it was done to them?
I know we don’t have information that far back, but we also have no idea how old Vadik is either.
His obsession with Sasha makes me think there is something more to this whole thing than to repopulate the werewolf species.
Think about it. Jason is normal, so it was either the fact they had a different dad or Vadik had a genetic boost to turn out like he did.
Back in the day, they didn’t have all the testing and equipment we do now.
What if he was like you, only they didn’t know how to force him to be a girl and ended up being a boy?
Are you implying that in some sick and twisted way that we could be related?
Eww, fuck no, but you could share some of creepy dead Sasha’s DNA, which in turn gave you magic.
That actually made sense. A marker could be the same, but it wouldn’t be enough to cause us to be seen as familial in any way. Okay, so what do we do with that?
How the fuck should I know? You’re in charge of all the doctor shit, I just come up with the ideas. I was asleep while you were studying. No reason for us both to go through that torture called medical school.
I couldn’t help but snort at that. It wasn’t that bad.
Sure, just keep telling yourself that, as you spend more time reading through all that gibberish.
Chuckling, I reached down to grab the tablet but misjudged the distance and fell off the couch with a yelp. Footsteps sounded as Bentley and Darius caught me picking myself up off the floor. “I’m all good guys, nothing to worry about.”
“I told you her depth perception would be off,” Bentley stated, giving Darius a look that told me they’d had words about this already.
Darius walked over to me and hoisted me up off the floor. “You sure you’re alright? None of us will think less of you for admitting that losing the vision in an eye is making some things harder.”
“Seriously, D-man, that’s the worst thing you could have said. God, are you a complete idiot?” Koit muttered from where he was leaning at the entrance to the kitchen. “Why don’t you tell her something else really obvious that she doesn’t already know?”
“Don’t rise to his bait,” I told Darius. “As for you, Mr. Shit-Starter, don’t you have something better to be doing right now?”
“Yes, clearly I need to protect you from this idiot’s enlightened commentary,” Koit said, pushing off the wall and coming to stand behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist. “You both can go back to what you were doing. I’ll keep her safe.”
Grumbling to himself, Darius gave me a searing kiss before he headed back to the living room. Bentley watched me with a critical eye before I waved him off. “Don’t push yourself. Your good eye will get tired much faster, so rest if you need to.”
“Yes, Doctor, I’ll make sure to look out for that,” I teased, but to my surprise, Bentley’s eyes flared with heat at my words. Just when I thought he was going to act on his desires, he looked over my shoulder at Koit and walked out of the room.
“That one’s going to have to figure out how to assert himself when he wants something, or he’s never going to get you alone to call him doctor,” Koit chuckled.
