32. Vivianna #2

Not only had they successfully cloned a person, but they’d cloned Violet.

Those bastards had used my daughter for her DNA so they could reproduce her over again and again without needing to use a surrogate woman in the process.

Rage burned in my blood as I shifted into my half form and punched my fist through the glass, before leaping into the room.

“You couldn’t just let her die, could you?

Do you really think you are some god who can create life just because he wants to? ”

“This baby is proof that I can create life,” he taunted, making me advance on him, but I stopped once his hand shifted to hold her around the waist and the throat. “Uh, uh, uh. If you want this thing to live, then I suggest you stay right where you are.”

“You wouldn’t kill her. You need her too badly. I cremated Violet, so you’ll never be able to use her again, and Hope is long gone where you will never touch her,” I snarled. “That baby and I are the last hope you’ll ever have of getting what you want.”

“Now see, that’s where you are wrong. This thing we created has no reproductive abilities, completely sterile and utterly useless to me,” Vadik said, looking down at the baby with disgust. “You are the only one that is of use to me now, and if you want to have this thing live, I’ll need something from you in return.

” Vadik shifted to reveal a medical cart with a large bone marrow syringe on it, along with a few other items needed for a blood draw and tubes to fill.

“Give me something to work with and I won’t need to go after your offspring any longer. ”

“You really think I’m going to just hand over my DNA for you to create innocent children to sell off or breed?” I demanded, my anger growing until I couldn’t see straight anymore.

Enough talking, Viv, we need to end this now.

“Fine, you want some DNA, I’ll give you some,” I snarled and walked up to the tray, took the syringe, and gripped it tightly in my hand.

Moving as fast as I could push my body, I swung a leg out, kicking him in the back of the knees, dropping him, as I grabbed his head and jammed the needle into his left eye.

Vadik gasped as blood started to pour out of his eye, releasing his hold on the baby who I grabbed before she hit the ground.

Clutching her to my chest, I performed another roundhouse kick to the face, jamming the needle further into his eye and dropping him to the ground at the same time.

“Paybacks a bitch,” I spat.

Looking around the room for someplace safe to put the baby down, I spotted her crib. Knowing that hit wouldn’t keep him down for long, I placed her back in just before I was tackled to the ground.

Vadik loomed over me in his half form, blood dripping from his eye, down on my face, teeth bared. “You did this to yourself, Vivianna. Know that your death results in theirs as well. This didn’t need to happen but I’m not gonna lie—I’m going to enjoy killing you for all the trouble you’ve been.”

It took me seconds to shift into my wolf and wiggle out from under him, only to shift back into my half form, raking my claws over his back. “Don’t count your chicken just yet. This chick’s just getting started.”

Roaring, he charged his movements faster than I’d ever seen them before, but I met him blow for blow, blocking him at every turn.

The baby was wailing in her crib, but I had to tune it out, knowing I couldn’t be of any help to her if I didn’t get rid of this bastard first. Vadik rammed me just like I’d tried to do to Jason, but this time, I was on the losing side and got shot out the window, crashing through the glass of the garden.

Vadik was on me before I could regain my feet, getting a nasty swipe at my side, making me groan.

I saw a shovel leaning against a planter box, so I grabbed it and slammed the steel end right on Vadik’s head.

He stumbled around for a bit, giving me a chance to shake off being tossed through a glass wall.

“I knew you would be perfect, but I should have expected Sasha to be strong in you. It would have been better to have raised you myself and taught you your place at my feet since the moment you entered this world,” Vadik taunted as we circled each other.

Tossing him a toothy grin, I shrugged. “Funny thing about that, my so-called father thought that’s what he was doing too. Seems it was just part of my DNA to tell men like you to—Fuck. Right. Off.”

Wanting him to know what that looked like, I made the first move, tossing a pile of dirt into his face before I took the shovel and hit him upside the head again.

This time, I didn’t stop there, going for a jab in the gut that I thrust so hard it sank into his flesh.

Pulling it out, I added in a solid nut shot to make myself feel better, dropping him to his knees.

I kicked out, planting my heel right in his sternum and knocking him flat on his back, wheezing.

Taking my time, I walked up to him, shovel still in hand and placed the point of it on his throat while I stood on his chest, holding him in place.

I could see it in his face. He knew I’d won but I had one more question for him.

“Would you have ever stopped coming after us?”

“You sure you want to know, little wolf?” I bared weight down on the shovel, and he grinned. “Never, because as you’ve seen, even a dead body can be useful to me.”

I think that’s enough out of him. He’s said quite enough for a lifetime, don’t you think?

Couldn’t agree more.

With the decision made, I stepped down on the shovel, slicing his head clean off and watched it roll away, bumping up against a plant that had beautiful massive red flowers.

One of the flowers seemed to be dying and drooping to the ground, but when Vadik’s head brushed its petals, the thing snapped shut and raised itself to the imitation sunlight.

“Huh, didn’t see that coming,” I mused.
