Hostage Princess Refuses Emperor’s Sons

Hostage Princess Refuses Emperor’s Sons

By Lynn Qingmei

Prologue

The Emperor was afraid my father would rebel, so he kept me hostage in the capital.

He said he wanted me to become his daughter-in-law.

Thirteen years passed in a flash.

The Emperor's three sons had already taken eight wives between them.

Yet he had the nerve to come to me and say, "You can pick any one of my three sons."

I wasn't planning to pick any of them.

But my father panicked.

He hurriedly resigned his commission, handed over his military authority, and told me he had found me an honest man.

The Emperor was delighted and let me go.

On the day I left the capital, my father sent that honest man to pick me up.

But the moment we passed the city gates, the Emperor's three sons took turns blocking our way.

"This is the honest man your father mentioned?"

"You know better than anyone whether he's honest or not."

Hmph.

A man who could take on all three of them—how could he not be honest?
