Chapter 11
Zak
Saturday night rolls around, and Bailey was spot on, the bar is super chill, busy but not crowded, with a nice mix of people who seem happy minding their own business.
Harvey nailed it, too. Being out together, the three of us, does feel right. I was waiting for him to nix the idea sometime between the car ride back from the lake and now, but, if anything, he's more hyped about it than even me.
It's nice seeing him come out of his shell and feel more confident about himself.
Same goes for Jack. When Bailey stared us down when we first met him at the lake, my heart was in my throat, praying for a good reaction.
His response was beyond good. We've met fans before, but his level of forthrightness caught us both off guard, which, after fifteen years in the porn biz, is really saying something.
"It's a shame Cloyce, Draper, and Jax couldn't make it," Bailey says, tucking his phone away with a sigh.
Duke immediately wraps an arm around him to comfort him.
"Wait." Harvey snaps to attention, dropping his beer with a thud on the high-top table we're huddled around. "Are you talking about Draper Fassmacher and Jax Anderson?"
Aaaand he's off on another round of fanboying.
Bailey slides out of Duke's grip and comes to stand next to me and Jack. "Can I ask you guys something personal?"
I chuckle because after everything he's already told us, the last thing either one of us expects from him is to be demure. "Sure. Go ahead. Is it DP advice?"
"No, no. I'm all good with that. It's about"—he lowers his voice to a whisper barely audible over the music—"Harvey."
Jack strains to hear it but manages to catch it. "What about him?"
"Well…are you three…you know, together?"
"Not exactly," I say.
"Tell me to mind my own business at any stage, but me—and Duke and Stellan—all sense something more between you guys."
"Well, Jack and I are besties and have been for ages. We only met Harvey when we came into town six weeks ago."
"But you guys like him?"
"Yeah."
"Yeah."
"And you're sleeping with him? Your two-minute reminder to tell me to butt out."
I chuckle again. "We're…exploring some stuff."
Bailey's eyes go wide, but then he does his best to school his features. "I can only imagine," he says, fanning himself.
Stellan comes over to see if we want to dance. Jack and I decline since we have one left foot…between the both of us, but Bailey trots off with them, leaving us alone with Harvey.
"Who knew you were such a fanboy?" Jack teases him.
A deep laugh rumbles out of him. "What can I say? I love hockey."
"You don't have to say anything," I say, caressing his bearded cheek. "You can nerd out as much as you like. We think it's adorable, don't we?"
"Oh, yeah. Totally. Cutest thing ever."
Harvey smiles as he tugs both of us in closer by our shirts. "What am I going to do with you two?"
"Oh, I think you know…"
We start making out, so it's a good thing we're in a relatively secluded corner of the bar. The guys return to the table. We have some shots, talk, laugh, and then Stellan drags Duke and Bailey out dancing again.
"I gotta pee," Jack says.
"We'll stay here," I tell him, and when he leaves, I ask Harvey, "Are you having a good time?"
"Yeah, I am." He wraps his arm around me the way Duke and Stellan do with Bailey, and it makes my skin tingle with warmth.
This doesn't just feel right, this is addictive, the start of something I don’t want ending in less than a week, when Jack and I have our flights back to LA booked.
"I'm really glad we came out tonight."
He pulls me even closer. "Yeah. I am, too."
