Ten

“Wait, you said something earlier at the restaurant that just dawned on me. And maybe it’s nothing but I have to ask.”

“What’s that, Baby?” Sean’s gaze was focused on our hands clasped together suspended in front of us.

“You said that you looked forward to the moment I’d come in to your coffee shop.”

“I meant that. I really did. Every single day, I couldn’t wait to see your face. To see your smile.”

I blushed, nearly losing all train of thought.

“You believe me, right?”

Now, his nerves were showing.

“I don’t know how but yes, I believe you.”

“You don’t know how you trust me or…”

I buried my face into his shoulder, but he pulled my chin up to face him.

“Tell me.”

“Why?”

“Why what?”

“Why me?”

He smiled and looked like he was reminiscing. “You have no idea, do you?”

“About what?” My heart was racing, and my heart rate was deafening in my ears.

“Everything about you drew me in. I know it might sound cliché but the first day I saw you, I needed to know you. I felt drawn to you. And yes, a big part of that was just how gorgeous you were but also, your smile. The way you treated my employees with more respect than I ever saw anyone else. Like you actually saw them. And the light in your eyes. I knew you were having a rough morning. I could just sense it somehow, but you didn’t let that damper the way you were so friendly and sweet.

Like you would give everything you have to someone without even thinking twice. ”

“Wow.” It was all I could manage as I processed his words.

“I admit, I asked Natalie if you came in often and she told me that you did pretty much every morning and so I adjusted my schedule some. Saying that out loud makes me sound like a creep but I promise, I’m not.”

I laughed. “No, you’re definitely not. But there you go again. There’s something you’re not saying but feels like you almost are.”

I watched worry spread across his face. “What do you mean?”

I twisted until I was sitting up and leaned my chin in my hands with my elbows on my knees, staring at him with narrowed eyes before I finally started listing out my points.

“You’ve referred to the coffee shop as “yours”.

You just said, “your employees”. And you talked about how you thought of adding a drink to the menu like it was no big deal.

Also, you live in your own house in Queen Anne. ”

Sean only responded with, “Yes.”

“Sean, do you own The Roasted Bean?”

Sean let out and heavy breath and smiled. “I do.”

“I knew it!” I exclaimed before calming myself down. “Why didn’t you tell me before? And why did you always act like you just worked there? You never said anything about it or bragged or anything and that’s something to brag about.”

He shrugged. “I didn’t want to come off with a big ego or anything. Plus, it really isn’t a big deal.”

“Sean.” I stated and pressed my hands against his chest as I climbed onto his lap. “This is a huge fucking deal. You own your own business. A very successful and amazing business. You are a very successful and amazing guy.”

He sheepishly grinned and now, I knew what it was like on the other side of the table. “You spent all of today on me. You’ve done this for months now when you could have taken some of that light too. I want to share it with you. So now, we’re going to celebrate you.”

I leaned down and planted a long and deep kiss on his lips. I felt him growing hard again and smiled without pulling my lips back too far. “You’re also a huge fucking deal.”

We finally ate our brownie sundae around three in the morning huddled together on his bed as we watched some funny Youtube videos.

“I should probably go home.” I blurted after the sundae was long gone.

“Only if you want to. You don’t have to stay the night if you don’t want to, but you also don’t have to leave.”

“But shouldn’t I go home? I mean, isn’t that how it’s supposed to go? I don’t overstay my welcome. You don’t get scared, thinking I’m clingy if I stay?”

“Zette, I have a feeling you and I aren’t going to be any sort of conventional couple.”

“Couple?” I quipped. “Now who’s the clingy one.” I teased but quickly followed up with, “Is that what you really want?”

He nodded. “Of course, it’s up to you but yes, I admit. I don’t want to waste anymore time. I want to see where this can go for us. I want to be with you and not just some casual dating here and there.”

I smiled. “You’re right. We’re anything but conventional.” I leaned into him and gave him a soft kiss before curling back to his side.

It wasn’t long before I was asleep, apparently deciding to stay the rest of the night.

I finally left Sean’s place early in the morning. He was heading in to Roasted Bean for just a short bit and I figured it was time to head home and charge my phone…and my body.

We’d both woken up craving more of each other, it seemed.

It wasn’t long before I found myself on top of him, head thrown back, and just riding in motion with him as he brough orgasm after orgasm out of me before he came with me on my last one.

We’d both collapsed again but couldn’t allow sleep to carry us off so we both begrudgingly got up.

Not without a very heavy make-out on the front porch with hands roaming places that they shouldn’t be in broad daylight.

“I don’t want you to leave.” Sean told me once we finally pulled back and gathered ourselves.

“I don’t want to either.”

“How about you just stay here?”

“You have to go in, don’t you?”

“It can wait.” Sean trailed his hand down my cheek, melting me all over again. “I’ve been waiting, hoping for a chance with you for so damn long now that I don’t want to wait anymore.”

“Sean.” I smiled as my heart melted.

I leaned up for a kiss but his phone began ringing, crashing the moment.

“Shit.”

“What’s up? What is it?” I asked, careful not to crane and look at the screen.

“It’s the shop.” He huffed and answered his phone. Sean walked to the other side of the porch, and I just stood there, biting at my thumb nail and watching him pace back and forth.

The call didn’t last long, thankfully. “Fuck.” He called out as he walked back over to me.

“They need you, don’t they?” When he was within reach, I slipped my hands around his waist.

“Yeah.” He sighed heavily.

I pushed to the balls of my feet, and he met me with his lips. This time, it was sweeter but still passionate. It was a kiss that told us both this wasn’t the end. This was going to be something we could both get used to.

“I guess you’d better go save the day.” I tilted my head and smiled up at him.

“I guess so.”

We made our way to his car as he drove me back to the coffee shop.

Or so I thought.

“Where are you going?” I looked at him puzzled when he didn’t turn into the parking lot.

“I’m not letting you walk home.”

“But you don’t know where I live.”

“I guess you should tell me then, before we find ourselves in Canada.”

I rolled my eyes at him and finally gave him directions. Which was pretty much me pointing up three blocks down the street.

Sean held onto my hand for a moment when I started to get out of the car. “Thank you, Lizette.”

He was smiling up at me and as much as every other moment had my heart racing and melting, this simple smile made it to my core.

“Thank you. I really had fun Sean.”

“Any chance for some more?”

“I’m counting on it.”

“Good.” Sean let go of my hand and I made my way to the door, replaying different moments of the last eighteen hours over and over as I slipped the key into the lock.

“Dude! If it were anyone else you were with, I would have been calling the damn cops!” Brie surprised me from the other side of my front door. I hadn’t even stepped inside yet before she was screeching.

“What the hell, Brie?”

“You didn’t tell me you were going to stay the night with him.”

“I didn’t know I was going to either.” I shrugged.

I wasn’t trying to play it off. I just didn’t want her to worry. Plus, I felt bad because she was right. Brie and I had always told each other to check in at least a few times when going on any date or doing anything we hadn’t before.

“I’m sorry. It just…I didn’t think about it.”

“At least tell me that that is because you were too busy getting busy.” She teased.

I rolled my eyes. “God, you’re something else.”

“That’s not a no…”

“I don’t kiss and tell.”

“You and I both know we’re going to sit right here and you’re going to spill all the details.”

“All the details?”

“Well, the important ones. I don’t need to know how many hairs are on his big toe or anything.”

“Gross!” I playfully swatted at Brie as we both settled in on the couch. “Also, how did you get in here?”

“Shyla let me in. Told me to get on your ass for both of us. She had to drive home suddenly or something.”

I mentally made a note to call her later before I began spilling all of the details to Brie.

Even with Brie getting on to me for both of them, I knew Shyla would have more to say.

“Okay fine. But first, I need a shower, coffee, and something to eat.”

“Yeah, you look like sex.”

“Aren’t you supposed to say I look like shit?”

“Oh, no. You look like you had sex all night long. Wait, is that why you’re just now getting home?” Brie’s eyes went wide.

“We did not go all night.” I rolled my eyes at her and then turned away. “Just most of it.”

“I heard that!”

I flipped Brie off, jokingly, with my hand in the air, as I walked towards the bathroom.

“Fine!” She yelled back. “I’ll go get us coffee and breakfast. Is your boyfriend working this morning?”

I froze dead in place. “Um.”

“Just kidding. I won’t be a creep if he is.”

Before I could say anything else, I heard the front door close.

I let the shower heat up as I searched for some comfortable clothes and sent Sean a quick message.

Me: Watch out, Brie is coming for coffee for us.

Sean: Want your regular?

I couldn’t hold back my grin.

Me: You are my regular.

I typed out and hit send before I could think clearly.

“Shit, shit shit.” I was typing furiously but so was Sean.

Me: That sounded weird. I’m sorry.

The three dots stopped for a moment, causing my heart to do so as well.

Finally, they resumed and quickly, his response came in.

Sean: Sorry, I was making your drink. And no, it didn’t sound weird. I’m happy to be your regular. Means I get to kiss you whenever I want.

Again, I was blushing. This guy was going to be the death of me. Or he was going to be my life. I was banking on the latter.
