Hot Girls keep it in the Family – J.L. Ash #4

I nod, turning my head so that I can see him. “Yes. I don’t regret anything.”

And it’s true. I don’t regret it. I do love Parker, but after tonight, I realize that I deserve better. I turn my body toward Walker and wrap my hand around the back of his neck, pulling his lips down to mine. When he pulls back, I smile. “Thank you.”

He kisses my forehead and then rests his chin on the top of my head. This is where I belong. This is where I’ve always belonged.

We lay there for so long that we must have fallen asleep because the next thing I know is being startled awake to a loud banging noise. Walker wakes a moment later, scooting to the edge of the bed and pulling on his shorts. Then he disappears out into the hall, closing the door behind him.

Caught in his bliss, I forgot about the rest of the people at the party. I jolt up in bed… and Parker. Has he called me? Or texted me? Has he come back?

Hearing hushed voices out in the hall, I quickly wrap the sheet around my body and attempt to find my clothes that have been tossed onto the floor. ust as I’m pulling on my shirt, the bedroom door swings open.

“What the fuck, Gennifer?” Parker’s voice booms through the room, and I quickly turn away from him to finish putting on my shirt.

“Excuse me? Fuck me? What about fuck you?”

“What are you talking about? I just caught you naked in my cousin’s room. I think I’m the one who should be mad here.”

I turn toward him now, anger swirling through my body as I stare up at him. “That’s funny. Where did you go tonight? You have been gone for hours, and you just went out for more beer. No calls or anything.”

He’s got one wrong thing to say to me, and I might punch him right in the throat.

“Look, your car decided to die on me in a fucked up area with no service. That’s why I didn’t call you,” he sighs, taking a step toward me. “I had to walk down the interstate just to get service to call a wrecker.”

I scoff. “Okay, who do you know that has a wrecker for one, and second, show me the record bill.” I hold up my hand. “On second thought, none of that fucking matters anymore.”

“Gennifer. Let’s talk privately.” He says from behind me as I gather my shoes.

I turn quickly. “Whatever you have to say, you can say it to me right here.” I motion around the room. “We’re alone.”

He shakes his head. “No. Let’s go home and talk there,” he grabs my arm, but I yank it from him.

“Don’t fucking touch me. Never again, Parker.”

He chuckles. “You’re being dramatic.”

My eyes widen. “I am? Why won’t you just tell me the truth? Huh? Where were you? Hell, who were you with?”

His body stills as tears well in his eyes. Great, here comes the waterworks. Always with the tears when he knows he fucked up. He knows they usually work on me. But not tonight. Never. Fucking. Again.

“It was a mistake,” he rambles, reaching for me, but I swat his hand away.

“Nothing is ever a mistake, Parker. You fucking did this. You made the choice to fuck Dana. This is on you.”

His eyes widen at the sound of the woman’s name, and I smirk. “Did you think I didn’t know? Did you think I was testing you or something? You butt dialed me, you idiot.” I shove his chest. “We are done. Over.”

He stumbles backward, quickly glancing over his shoulder toward the open door where Walker stands in the doorway. “Please, baby. I promise I won’t ever do it again.”

“Don’t fucking ‘baby’ me.”

Everything happens in slow motion. Parker swings toward Walker, just as I grab onto Parker’s shoulder in an attempt to stop him.

He turns his anger toward me, shifting his stance; he grabs me by the throat and slams me against the wall.

“You fucking whore!” he seethes in my face right before he’s pulled off of me.

Walker slams him against the wall next to me, his hand now clamped around Parker’s, his face red like fire. “Don’t you ever fucking touch her. I’ll fucking kill you.”

Parker struggles against his hold, but Walker doesn’t let go until he starts to choke. Walker steps back, letting Parker fall to the floor as he gasps for air. “I’m your blood!” he cries. “How could you do this to me?”

Walker scoffs, walking toward me, pulling me against him. “You’re no blood of mine, Parker. Get out of my house.”

Parker scrambles to his feet, pulling his gun from his waistband and sticking it under his chin. “If you leave me, Gennifer. I’ll kill myself. I’ll fucking do it.”

“Well, I hope when you do it, you do it right. Cause I’m not coming back to you.

I’m done.” I say as I step out of Walker’s arms. As I walk toward the door, something is gnawing at the back of my mind.

“One last thing, I never thought you would do this to me. You tried so hard to make me yours, and once you had me, you threw me away like trash.” I sigh.

“I know they say to keep your enemies close and all, but I just never expected it to be you.”

I walk out into the hall, heading straight for the living room where I know my phone is. And once I have it in my possession, I head for the front door. I don’t wait to see if Walker is following. I don’t care if he is. I just want to get out of here.

The cool air hits me as I step out of the house. The smell of the bonfire still lingering in the air from the back of the house. The voices from the party are still going on without us. There are a few cars still in the driveway, but no one is out front.

With my hand on the door, I turn toward the house, just listening to see if he will actually hurt himself over me. And after a moment, when I’m met with nothing but silence, I climb inside. I knew he wouldn’t do it. Deep down, I knew he wouldn’t.

As I pull out of the driveway, I turn toward the front door only to see Walker staring at my car, directly at me. I smile at him, giving him a little wave before blowing him a kiss and driving off.

I crank the music up as ‘Bye Bye Baby’ plays on the radio. Good timing.

I leave behind my past and welcome what my future holds. But one thing I know for sure is that I won’t be coming back to this cousin. But I think I might just keep it in the family.
