Chapter 3 #2

The arguing was never going to end. They came to some kind of truce last night, but now, it seemed to have flared up again.

“What? All I’m saying is that you just brought her home. We know nothing about her except that she threw you through a window!”

“I worked for the FBI—” I tried, but was immediately cut off by more bickering.

“She’s the woman I love. Isn’t that enough?”

“Of course it’s enough. It just would have been nice if you had come home a few times and introduced us earlier instead of dropping this bombshell on us.”

“It’s hardly a bombshell. I fell in love. Why is that so hard to believe?”

“Because you ran out of here. You left us behind without caring at all about the ranch or your responsibilities here, all so you could play with guns.”

“That’s hardly how I would describe joining the military,” Parker muttered.

The arguing was getting out of control, and the stress was only making my stomach churn even harder. I squeezed my eyes closed, hoping to block out some of the noise, but it didn’t work.

“Maybe you could tell us a little about how you met,” Clara interrupted. “Is it a good story?”

“He already told us she threw him through a window,” Ben argued. “What more could there be?”

“Actually,” I said, hoping to get them to come around. “We met because we were both digging into some crooked senators. They were doing some terrible things, and we were trying to stop them.”

“What terrible things?” Ben asked.

“They—”

“Blake,” Parker interrupted, shaking his head at me.

“What? You don’t think they have a right to know?”

“We kept it quiet for a reason.”

“These are your parents. We told my dad and brothers,” I pointed out.

Ben slammed his fist down on the table. “Will someone tell us what the hell is going on around here?”

I wasn’t about to keep anything from Ben and Clara. Not when I felt every citizen had a right to know about what had almost happened just a few months ago.

“Michael and I were both digging into crooked senators who appeared to be investing in a medical facility.”

“What’s so strange about that?”

“They were making hand over fist in earnings, and they had more money than they should have had to invest. It’s a long story, but through our investigation, we found out that the medical facility was actually producing a virus.”

My eyes flicked to Parker’s, but he was staring at the table, his jaw clenched in anger. I had a feeling it wasn’t just because of the fact that I was telling his parents, but because of the fallout.

“Don’t medical facilities study viruses all the time?” Clara asked.

“They weren’t studying a virus that already existed,” Parker said quietly. “They were making a virus more deadly than anything we’ve ever seen.”

His eyes rose to meet mine in silent remembrance.

“The senators we were investigating were planning to unleash the virus on the entire world, all in the hopes of swinging the election in their favor. They were going to kill millions of people all for political gain.”

“What?” Clara laughed. “That’s absurd!”

Parker and I stared at each other. My mind went right back to that cell, to the dark room I had been held in. I shivered as if I was back there on the concrete floor, freezing and on the verge of death. Suddenly, I wasn’t so happy I had told them a damn thing.

“Blake and I were taken and held in some prison while they tried to get the journal of notes we stole from the facility. They needed to know that there was no evidence out there for anyone to find.”

“Michael—” Clara gasped, her eyes filling with tears. “But…wouldn’t they have contacted us?”

“It wasn’t exactly legal. We broke out of there—”

“You broke us out of there,” I interrupted, making damn sure his parents knew exactly how much of a hero their son was. “If he hadn’t broken me out of there, I would have been dead.”

“You’re stronger than you think,” Parker smiled at me.

When he stared at me, it was hard to think of my life going on without him in it. Yes, it was hard to move to a new state surrounded by his family, but I had him, and that was really all that mattered.

“What happened with the virus?” Ben asked.

“They injected someone we knew with it, and she nearly died. Someone at Reed Security found the antidote at the medical facility and got it to the doctors in time. But we were all exposed. We should have been dead,” I said, still unable to believe it.

“And…you’re okay now?” Clara asked. “There are no residual effects?”

We hadn’t been affected by it at all, but now that I suspected I was pregnant, I began to wonder if there would be any implications.

“No, none that we know of. We got off damn easy.”

I tore my thoughts from the dark alley they were threatening to go down and focused on the conversation at hand. “And because of Parker’s heroic actions, the president agreed to look at his case again. Not only did he pardon him and give him an honorable discharge, but he also offered him a job.”

“What?” they both gasped.

“I didn’t take it, obviously.”

“Right, because you needed to come back here and save the ranch,” Ben laughed. “Except, you didn’t stick around when you could have actually saved it.”

“Pop, you’ve always been like this. When you don’t like my decisions, you find a way to blame me for everything that went wrong. But the ranch was going to fail. It was a given!”

This couldn’t go on. Something had to give.

“Because you left!”

“Because—”

My eyes flew open and I unleashed. “I think I’m pregnant!”

Silence descended around me.

Parker very slowly turned and looked at me in shock, his eyes dropping as low as he could see over the table.

“You’re…”

Clara reached over to her son and slapped him upside the head. “You didn’t marry this woman before you got her pregnant?”

“I didn’t know I got her pregnant!”

“Well, this is typical,” Ben sighed.

“Why is this typical? I’ve never gotten a woman pregnant before.”

“I’m not sure that I am,” I clarified.

“I can’t believe you didn’t marry her.”

“Ma, I didn’t know—”

“She threw you through a window,” his father sighed, shaking his head. “And still, you impregnated her.”

“I didn’t know!”

“I might not be,” I said again.

“We have to get started on your house right away,” Clara beamed. “You can’t raise a baby in the winter around here without a proper house, and you’ll want your privacy.”

“Are you sure?” Parker asked, looking at me in shock.

“No, that’s why I said I might be,” I snapped.

“Why didn’t you take a test?”

“Call me crazy, but we haven’t exactly had a lot of time to stop at the local store.”

“They could take that new cabin out by Liam’s!” Clara beamed.

“Yeah, just hand it over to them,” Ben argued. “No responsibility at all.”

“I can’t believe it,” Parker shook his head. “I just…”

“Can’t believe it? Yeah, me too. Not that I’m surprised. That thing is like a weapon,” I added pointedly.

“Well, he takes after his father,” Clara beamed.

“Ew, Ma, don’t say shit like that.”

“Of course, I guess we’ll have to give them the cabin. Otherwise, they’ll stay here, and we’ll end up taking care of their kid.”

“When did you ever take care of the kids?” Clara asked irritatedly, but her frown quickly turned into a smile. “Babies are such a joy. Our first grandchild. It’s going to be wonderful.”

“Again, I might not actually be pregnant,” I emphasized.

“Nonsense. A woman knows these things.”

Parker grinned at me. “Watch out. She might start feeling your stomach next.”

Clara brushed him off and rushed over to the cabinet, grabbing four wine glasses. “I have just the thing for the occasion.”

“Christ, not that voodoo wine again,” Ben grumbled.

“It’s not voodoo wine. It’s just a special blend.”

“It’s voodoo wine,” Ben snapped. “You’ve been keeping that on hand, trying to get Bailey pregnant since the moment Liam asked her to dance.”

“Oh, so it’s okay if Bailey gets pregnant out of wedlock,” Parker muttered.

“Bailey never threw Liam out the window.”

“I bet she wanted to,” Clara laughed as she set the wine glasses down.

While Clara poured the wine, I glanced up and caught Parker staring at me with a grin on his face. Sure, he was all about the baby thing now, but we’d barely stepped foot in Montana when our lives changed yet again. How would having a baby affect our relationship?

“It’s gonna be great,” he said softly, as if he could read my thoughts. “You’ll see.”

“God, I hope so.”

Shrugging, he grinned at me. “If not, I’ll let you throw me through another window.”

I smirked at him, feeling better than I had all day. “As if you have to let me.”

Twenty minutes later, my back hit the door to our room as Parker attacked me with his lips. His thick length pressed hard against my stomach as he spun me around, slamming the door, and then shoving me up against it.

“Don’t be gentle,” I murmured against his lips as he hoisted me up, wrapping my leg around his back.

“Are you sure about that?”

I remembered the first time we were together, how thick and long he was, and how stretched I felt by it.

“Okay, maybe a little gentle.”

Chuckling, he spun me around and marched over to the bed, spreading me out on it like his favorite treat. The heat in his eyes had me attempting to clench my legs together, but he didn’t allow it.

Pressing his knee to the bed, he shook his head slightly, quirking his eyebrow in challenge.

“You ready for this?” he asked as he undid his belt and slid it slowly from his jeans. Tossing it across the room, his eyes roamed over my breasts, down to the valley between my legs. I felt completely naked, even fully dressed.

His thumb brushed against the button of his jeans, teasing me, taunting me as his smirk grew. My eyes widened in anticipation as he thumbed the button, then tore it open, ripping his jeans down his legs.

His cock sprang free, bobbing in front of me and begging for me to lick it.

His eyes darkened as I sat up and wrapped my lips around his length.

My jaw ached from the sheer width of his cock, but I didn’t let that stop me.

Not when his fists tightened at his sides as it took everything in him to restrain himself.

The sheer power I felt when I had him in my mouth was a high I would never get over. He was a barely restrained animal on the verge of breaking loose, and if I pushed him too far, I’d end up with his cock breaking me in two.

And yet, somehow, that was exactly what I needed.

Letting my eyelids flutter, I moaned indecently around his length, taking him as far back in my throat as I could.

The beast inside him unleashed in seconds.

Tearing his cock from my mouth, he ripped the jeans down my legs and gripped my hip with a wicked grin just before he sank his cock deep inside me.

Gasping, I clung to him as my body adjusted, but he didn’t give me even a second before he was thrusting hard inside me. My pussy spasmed from the sheer size of him. Stars burst behind my eyes as I took every inch of him, refusing to cry out in pain as my body slowly adjusted to his size.

Pain turned to pleasure just as it always did with him. Before too long, I was crying out, clawing at his back, and screaming his name.

The bed creaked and shifted as he fucked me hard and fast. His grip on my hip tightened, and I knew it was coming. I could feel it in the tension of his body, in the way his eyes locked on mine just as they always did when he was about to come.

And that was all it took for me to fall over the edge. That heated passion in his gaze always did it for me. It was unlike anything I’d ever experienced before, and that was how I knew this was meant to be forever.

He connected with me on such a deeper level that I knew I would never find another man who made me feel this way.

“Baby,” he whispered, smashing his lips to mine.

I tipped over the edge, crying out against his mouth as he came hard inside me.

Body shaking and stars exploding, I was spent.

I closed my eyes as my body started to come down from the high, smiling as he pressed kisses down my neck and over my body until he settled on my stomach.

“This is it, baby. This is forever.”

I smiled as he pressed his lips to mine in a sweet kiss.

A loud bang sounded on the door, followed by his father’s voice. “You’re moving out tomorrow!”
