15. LYRA #2
“He’s delicious going down, but after an hour, your stomach starts to gurgle and next thing you know, you’re on the bathroom floor questioning every decision you’ve ever made.
Shit’s staining the walls and ceiling, yet you somehow convince yourself that next time will be better, so you keep going back for more—”
A slow grin stretches across Hunter’s lips, his eyes shining like fireworks. “Damn straight she does, because she knows how fucking good it is,” he says before turning on his friend. “For the record, I’m not a gas-station burrito. I’m tequila.”
I snort a laugh. “Ahhh, makes sense. You’re the hard shot that people regret the next morning.”
His mouth drops open. “That’s not what I meant.”
“Ahh, too late. You’ve willed it into existence, and now that’s all you are. Take your pick. Shit-inducing burrito or regrettable tequila?”
“I fucking hate you both.”
“Right back at ya.”
Maddox leans his shoulder against the doorframe, the move bringing him closer. “What’s it gonna be, Savage? Triple layer chocolate mud cake or explosive diarrhea?”
Looking up at Maddox, I inch even closer, my hand lifting to his chest. “You see, here’s the thing. I gave Hunter a chance, and sure, it was fun, and if today has proven anything, it’s that he can actually put it down. But that’s all it was. We’re nothing. I’m only dating you.”
Maddox’s hand finds my waist, and just as he starts pulling me in, Hunter scoffs.
“Like fuck you are,” he says. “After you knocked me unconscious, taped me to a chair, and then rode my cock at knife point, there’s no way you get to claim we’re not dating.
That right there is about as hot as flirting gets. ”
I gape at Hunter. “Flirting? That was not flirting.”
He scoffs. “Tell that to the cock you were riding.”
Fury ripples through me. “I know I’ve said this before, and I’m sure I’ll say it again, but I really fucking hate you. How is one man so irritating?”
His only response is to hit me with a cocky smirk as though he’s the one with the upper hand here. I’m on the verge of beating him senseless when Maddox cuts in again. “Looks like this is going to be an easy decision.”
Hunter shakes his head, looking way too confident. “Like I said earlier, she wants me. She just doesn’t know it yet.”
I scoff. “You are an actual asshole. I wouldn’t date you if my life depended on it, especially not after seeing you end that guy’s—” My eyes widen in horror, realizing exactly what I was about to say out loud.
Maddox looks between me and Hunter, his gaze narrowed with a deep suspicion. “Ended that guy’s what ?”
Ah, fuck, fuck, fuck. What have I done?
I cringe, certain Hunter is going to have something to say about this, but when I look up at him, he’s grinning back at me. His eyes dance with amusement as his gaze slices toward his best friend, looking as casual as ever. “She knows.”
Maddox’s eyes widen in shock. “SHE FUCKING KNOWS?”
“Wait,” I say, looking between them both before focusing on Maddox. “You know too?”
“Of course I fucking know,” Maddox says. “He’s my best friend. I knew just about the same moment he did. And between you and me, nobody is better than him. You’ve gotta see him take a shot. Near perfect accuracy every time.”
“What the fuck?” I say in horror. “And we’re all just okay with this?”
Both guys shrug as though it’s not a big deal, and I just gape at them.
“This is actually insane, you know that, right?” I say, starting to pace through the entrance of my apartment before stopping and staring at Hunter.
“You know the whole city is searching for you, right? They’re calling a meeting next week. ”
Hunter nods. “Oh yeah. Sounds like a blast. We were planning on attending.”
“They’re going to invoke a city-wide curfew because of you,” I say. “Do you have any idea how bad that’s going to be for my business?”
Hunter cringes. “Yeah, I figured, but you’ll be okay. They can’t enforce a curfew for long. Besides, a curfew is great for my business. Less witnesses.”
I shake my head. “You are unbelievable.”
He winks. “See, I knew you’d catch on.”
Maddox pulls me in closer, his big hand flexing on my waist. “Can we get back on track here?” he asks. “Now that we’ve determined that Hunter is delusional and you only want me, I just have one more extremely important question.”
I glance up at him, my brow arched, already knowing I’m going to regret this. “What’s that?”
“Who’s got a bigger cock?”
I sputter, my jaw hanging open as I pull out of his hold.
“You see that?” Hunter says. “She’s trying to work it out by remembering just how far down her throat I came.”
Maddox stiffens in front of me, his gaze blasting against mine like an accusation before looking over at his best friend. “Wait. You fucked her mouth?”
Hunter shrugs a shoulder. “More like she fucked my cock with her mouth.”
Maddox exhales, slowly shaking his head as though personally offended, and when a slow grin spreads across his face, I brace myself for whatever fresh bullshit is about to fly out of his mouth. “She might know how you taste, brother. But I know how sweet she tastes.”
Ahh fuck.
Hunter just smirks. “Sweet, isn’t it?”
Maddox gasps in outrage, throwing his hands up in surrender as he starts pacing the hallway. “Jesus fucking Christ. Where’s the justice?”
I can’t help but laugh as I step out of my doorway after him.
“You want justice?” I say, stepping into him and sliding my fingers beneath the loose fabric of his shirt and brushing my nails across his strong abs.
“Justice is knowing that between the two of you, you’re the one I’m going to invite inside.
You’re the one I’m going to spend the rest of my night riding.
Not him. While you’re buried deep inside of me, Hunter is going to be sitting all alone in his little apartment, listening to me scream your name through the wall while madly jerking off and crying himself to sleep. ”
Maddox grins and glances at Hunter over the top of my head. “Can’t deny that she paints a good fucking picture.”
Hunter huffs. “Don’t I fucking know it.”
I laugh and reach for Maddox’s hand, and as I turn and look up at Hunter, I just smile. “Checkmate, motherfucker.”
I pull Maddox toward my door, and he falls straight in line, not willing to say a single word to screw this up, and as I pass Hunter, he just grins, watching me as though he couldn’t be more proud. “Oh, Sweet Savage. You haven’t seen nothing yet. The games are only just beginning.”
And with that, I step into my apartment and close the door behind us, knowing that before Hunter even has the chance to move away from it, my back will already be slammed against it.
