25. LYRA #2

Butterflies soar through my stomach and when Hunter’s fingers brush across my waist, my body begins to tremble. I have no idea what they think is about to go down, but I am so here for it.

Maddox’s heated stare returns to mine. “Baby, we’re about to open your eyes to a whole world of new possibilities.”

I scoff. “Without touching my clit?”

“Mm-hmm.”

“Not going to lie, I like the sound of that, but there’s no way you can pull it off. Not even tag-teaming me. It’s not possible.”

Hunter leans in, his fingers skimming up the length of my arm before closing around my throat. He pulls me back against him, tilting my chin and turning my head until his lips are brushing against mine. “Are you prepared to risk your life on that?”

I swallow hard, my stare flashing to his. “You really think you stand a chance?”

Hunter doesn’t respond, just keeps staring at me, waiting for me to cave, and I scoff, knowing my body better than anyone. “You can try all you like, but it’s not going to happen.”

He just grins and tightens his grasp around my throat before pulling me back in, his lips crushing against mine with a deep kiss. His tongue dives into my mouth and my body goes weak in his hold as Maddox’s hands tighten on my thighs, slowly inching up higher.

“Ground rules, Savage,” Maddox says, his words drawing me away from Hunter’s kiss. “Apart from the obvious—no clit action—you need a safe word.”

My brow arches. “Why the hell do I need that?”

“Because—and I seriously doubt this is going to be an issue—but if for whatever reason, you truly can’t come and you’re getting too worked up, then you use your safe word, and the clit comes back into action.

There’s only so long you would be able to hold out without getting what you need, and I don’t want you having to get to that point. ”

“My, oh my, Mr. Grey, who would have known you were such a kinky little pervert?”

Maddox just grins. “Oh, baby, you’ve got no fucking idea,” he murmurs. “Now tell me, what’s your safe word?”

I shrug my shoulders, never having needed to come up with one before, when I suddenly blurt, “Premature ejaculation.”

Both boys look at me like I’d just had a manic episode, but now that the word has been spoken into the universe, it sticks. Just like nicknames.

“Okay,” Maddox says with a sigh. “Premature ejaculation, it is.”

I laugh as Hunter shakes his head behind me, muttering under his breath. “That’s definitely not going to fuck with my vibe,” he says before dragging me backward off the counter until I’m securely in his arms, my legs locked around his waist. “Let’s get this show on the road.”

I laugh as he strides out of the kitchen. “You’re awfully confident for a man who’s about to fail.”

He pauses at the edge of the living room, his stare colliding with mine. “Oh, you care to make it interesting?”

My brow arches, and I hold his stare, my heart rate kicking up, because while I don’t know everything about Hunter and Maddox yet, I know accepting a bet is probably going to come back to bite me on the ass. This is dangerous territory here, but I like it. “Depends. What’s on offer?”

The boys share a glance, and without a single word spoken between them, they’re somehow already on the same wavelength. “If we get you off,” Hunter says, a too-sure confidence in his tone that warns me to tread lightly, “then you show us your black book.”

I pull back, holding his stare for just a moment before glancing at Maddox and seeing that same intrigue.

My black book is my life. It’s a list of every kill I’ve ever made.

Time and date. Location. Weapon, and any detail of how the hit came under my radar.

It’s filled with my contacts, my hideouts, my emergency escape plans.

It’s not something I would ever hand over willingly, but when it comes to Maddox and Hunter, it’s not something I feel I need to hide. I trust them.

“Okay,” I say, a slow grin stretching across my face, “and when you inevitably lose?”

Maddox scoffs. “We won’t.”

“But if you do?”

“You tell us, Lyra,” Hunter says. “What do you want?”

I press my lips into a hard line. “I want to not have to choose.”

He shakes his head. “That’s not how a bet works, Savage.”

“That’s not what I meant,” I clarify. “If I win, and you two suckers can’t get me across the finish line, then I’m officially not choosing. I want you both . . . despite your inability to get me off. I’ll overlook that disgustingly insulting facet of your being.”

Maddox scoffs, ignoring my last comment, and focusing on the first—the one that truly counts. “Both?” Maddox asks.

I meet his stare over Hunter’s shoulder. “Mm-hmm.”

The boys share a glance that only lasts a second, but it’s gone before I can read into it. Hunter huffs and tightens his hold on my ass. “Come on, Savage. It doesn’t matter anyway because I don’t lose.”

I scoff and fix him with a hard stare. “In the past few weeks, I can count multiple times where you have lost, Hunter Cole.”

He smirks, knowing damn well I’m referring to the time I bested him on a contract. “And if I told you I let you win in order to draw you out?”

“Then I’d say you’re a rotten liar,” I tell him. “Now, make haste, sir. A clit-less orgasm awaits nobody.”
