Nothing says ‘good date’ like hiding a dead body.

“I thought Logan said not to move the damn body.” Leo yells as I try to drag Alex from the living room to the garage.

“I am not moving him. I’m simply relocating him to a less visible place. Do you even know this guy?” For fuck’s sake, why is he so heavy? Leo is standing there, looking at me while I drag the cocoon of death across the living room.

“How is moving him to the garage helpful right now?” He finally decides to help, lifting the leg portion of the dead body.

“I don’t know if it will help avoid having to explain why Alex is dead in Rachel’s living room if anyone but Logan decides to come by.

” I shout as I try to open the front door with my elbow.

Damn it. I drop my side of the body onto the floor to open the door, and Leo eyes me as if I just killed someone.

“How about we tone down the judgment, buddy, and help more?” He laughs as if that’s so funny. It’s not. It’s very much not funny, and I am annoyed as hell to be in this situation. Especially when I was supposed to have a hot man cook for me.

“I am helping, but this is a stupid plan.” He argues.

“Really? Says the fucking murderer.” I shout back.

“I am not denying that I am one, but this specific murder was an accident.” He admits.

I am about to respond when a voice comes from the driveway. “What the hell happened to don’t move the fucking body?” A man who I assume is Logan shouts a little too loudly, and both Leo and I turn to him in unison.

“Say it a little louder, why don’t you?”

“Oh, fuck. You are right.” Logan places his hand over his mouth, realizing the mistake he just did.

I turn to Leo with a raised eyebrow. “I thought you said this guy was a pro.”

“I said I heard rumors he did prison time.” Leo shrugs. “Maybe they were wrong.”

“They weren’t, but I didn’t kill anyone.” Logan pushes me aside and lifts my side of the body. “Let’s put him in my trunk.” Sure, let’s listen to the stranger with the prison record. That’s going to go well.

“Are we really going to trust this dude?” Leo stays silent, and I turn to Logan. “Who the hell are you?”

“Someone who is willing to help you hide a body. Do you really need more information than that?” He kind of has a point but it’s a shady one at best. Yes, he is helping us hide Alex’s corpse, but is he really helping? How do we know he won’t report us to the cops the moment he leaves the house?

“How do we know you are not a cop?” I question with my detective hat on. Because that’s also a high possibility, and you can’t tell me otherwise.

“I am not, but if you want me to call them for you, I sure can.” He flashes me a toothy smile, and I already hate this guy.

“I don’t like this guy.” I mumble as I walk to his car and open the trunk. They place the body inside, and Logan closes it before he moves to the driver’s seat of the car.

“Get in line. I don’t like him either, and I am pretty sure no one really does, but we seem to need him.” Leo admits.

“Melanie does.” Logan says with a grin, and I wonder who the hell Melanie is, but I choose not to ask right now. It’s not important. The important part is to figure out how to hide the damn body.

“Stay away from her, Logan. She is too fucking young for you.” Leo seems to have more issues with Logan and Melanie than I do and I wonder who this woman is to him.

“Listen man, I get the protectiveness and all that shit but if you didn’t notice I don’t think you are able to bark orders at me.

Unless you would like for me to get the fuck out of here and call the cops.

” Is he threatening my boyfriend? No one is threatening my boyfriend on my watch.

I get ready to fight this dude because what the fuck do you mean you are going to threaten Leo in front of me?

But then Leo’s whole body language relaxes, and I guess I might be overreacting.

Just a little bit. I still don’t like this guy.

“Fine. What are we doing now?” Leo’s voice changes from judgy to soft, calculated, and I can tell it takes too much effort for him to achieve. His whole body is tense, and he is one step away from punching the guy.

“We are going to do nothing.” Logan says, and both of us look at him, confused. What the hell do you mean by nothing? “I am going to drive two towns over and call a friend who owes me a favor. He is a professional. Don’t worry. No one will find this guy.”

“Alex. His name is Alex.” I say in a low voice.

“No one will find Alex.” Logan repeats.

“What are we supposed to do?” Leo seems more confused than he was before.

“Clean all this blood from the driveway yourself, and wherever you dragged the body when I said not to move it. And relax. It’s fine. I am sure this guy deserved it.” This guy might not be too bad after all. Alex did give me a creepy vibe. “Later.” He says, and starts the car.

“Time to clean a crime scene, I guess.” I say with a chuckle, and Leo gives me an angry look. He is adorable when he’s mad.
