Chapter Twenty
Phin
There was something about cascading warm water falling over my body that really lifted my mood. It did wonders. Not that I was in a bad mood, mind you, but I was still a little tired. The shower woke me up.
By the time I got out and wrapped a towel around my waist, Ossy was sitting on the edge of the bed. An enormous pile of clothing lay haphazardly in the middle. It was very Ossy-esque to leave them in disarray. I recognized the clothes as mine.
Ossy met my gaze with a sheepish look. His big blue eyes looked just a little puppy-dog-ish. “I went to your apartment and grabbed as many clothes as I could. You got the part where I said you’d have to move here. It’s safer, right?”
Was that why he looked a little guilty? Because he thought I wouldn’t want to move? “That part was crystal clear.”
“I know, but I just want to make sure that you’re aware of the change that needs to happen.” Okay, so that wasn’t it.
“You shouldn’t have taken the chance just to bring me my clothes. Donn could have separated us.” At this point, separation would be a disaster.
Ossy shrugged. “I was in and out. Donn isn’t as focused on us as he was on Grym and Elliot.”
“He’s one god I’d like to avoid.”
Ossy’s expression turned sheepish once more. “I found your stash.”
“My stash?” What the heck was Ossy talking about? He made it sound like I had hidden a pound of cocaine in my freezer.
Then he pulled out a pair of pink, lacy panties. They showcased my ass to perfection and complemented my skin tone. They still had the tags on them because I’d been saving them for a special occasion.
I smirked as I closed the distance between us. I snatched the panties from him, let my towel drop to the floor, and pulled them on. All the while, I watched Ossy’s expression shift from guilty to his blue eyes blazing with hunger.
“This is the part you’re going to like the most,” I said, then turned so my back faced him.
Ossy ran his finger along the edge of the lace, down each cheek.
“Do you like them?” I knew he did. I just wanted to hear him say it.
“Turn around.” When I did, Ossy wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled me so close I ended up straddling his lap.
Ossy still wore only his robe. The thing probably needed laundering.
I was pretty sure it had our cum all over it.
Ossy wouldn’t care, but I made a mental note to throw it in the washing machine later.
The robe smelled like us. So did his skin, whereas mine smelled like soap, and I sort of regretted taking a shower.
Ossy’s hands went to my ass cheeks. “I want to dirty you up again.”
I smiled. “I want that, too.”
“Morgana is waiting for you in the hall.” Well, that took the wind out of my sails. Definitely mood-killers.
Not that she was a cockblock or anything, but I certainly didn’t want to think about Morgana while Ossy was fucking me. “Oh. Okay.”
I started to get up, but Ossy held on. “Wait. Just for a minute more.”
His lips met mine. It was brief but heated. He didn’t take it as far as he could have. Any further, and we really would have been fucking. When he ended the kiss, he pulled me closer, wrapping his arms around me.
“You have a drawer full of these panties. I would like to see you in every single pair.”
“Ooh, fashion show.” That was a great idea.
Ossy worked his hand down to my ass cheeks again and slid his finger along my crack. “It’ll be so hot.”
“How about tonight? I’ll show you five pairs.”
“Six. And you wear these beauties under your suit. The gray one. I want to think about what’s underneath all that refinement for the rest of the day.”
I met his gaze. “You pay attention to my suits?”
Ossy seemed offended. “Of course I pay attention. You’re hot no matter what you wear.”
“Well, okay, but today I’m not wearing that. I’m tired. It doesn’t feel like a suit day. It feels like a sweatpants-and-T-shirt kind of day.” I laid my head on his shoulder.
“Deal, as long as you wear lacy panties under your suit sometime this week.”
I grabbed his arm, pulled it around so I could shake his hand, then let it go again. All without lifting my head off his shoulder. “Thank you for getting my clothes.”
“You’re welcome.”
“Please don’t go by yourself again. Take me with you.” The last thing I needed was to lose Ossy the way I’d been lost. I didn’t want to go to Tech Duinn again. That place might not have been that scary, but it was definitely for the birds. Going alone was scarier than my last experience.
I kissed him one last time before climbing off his lap. Digging through my clothes for something comfortable was challenging, so I chose the first pair of jeans I found and a sweater.
Ossy patted me on the ass as I pulled my pants on. The panties worked like a charm. “This is mine later.”
“It’s yours all the time.” I kissed him again, then pulled on my sweater.
I smiled and winked at him before leaving the room.
Morgana leaned against the wall. When she met my gaze, tears welled in her eyes. I’d never seen her so emotional before. Not once in all the years we’d worked together.
I pulled her into a hug. “What happened? Are you okay?”
She let out a watery chuckle. Her grip tightened to the point of being almost painful. “I should be asking you that. I’m so sorry, Phin. I thought keeping you in the dark would keep you safe.”
“It did, actually. I think Donn must like me or something, because it wasn’t that bad. He just doesn’t know what to do with beloveds.” I pulled out of the hug so I could meet her gaze.
Morgana’s eyes widened. “You spoke to him?”
“I sort of got a promotion right before I escaped.” I smirked. “It’s not as great as it sounds. He did it to keep me close. I think he knew Ossy was on his way.”
“He suspected Ossy was in the building.” She seemed certain of it. There was just one small problem with the theory.
“I got a memo the night before.” The promotion had already been in place long before Ossy and Ezul stepped into the building.
She stiffened. “How could Donn know when Ossy would arrive?”
Ossy leaned against the doorjamb. “Ezul, most likely.”
He kept his hands in the pockets of his pants. I hadn’t realized he’d put any on until that moment, but he must have put them on while Morgana and I were having our moment.
“We’ll talk about Ezul later,” she told Ossy.
I turned back to her. “Next problem. Since we have a bit of a reprieve from Donn, I think we need to protect the property. So how do we do that?”
Morgana smiled and seemed to sigh with clear relief. She drew me into another hug. “I’m so glad you’re back. We really need you.”
