Epilogue Helena

“ A re you sure that we should come back here? After everything you said, it seems like we should stay clear.”

Raphael shakes his dark head. “This war needs all of us to win. Magic is where it will be and therefore that’s where we must go.”

I roll my eyes. “I don’t even know what you mean by war. It doesn’t make any sense.”

“I’ll make sure that nobody ever touches you, mate. But my cousin and the other shifters in Magic need all the help they can get. There are so many people for you to meet and all of them will protect each other and you with our last breaths. Magic is where the world will either end or rise up in a brand new world. Hell can’t take over if we stop them.”

I shake my head. I don’t understand what’s going on but I know it’s important and if it’s not done, something may destroy the whole world as we know it and considering that I may already be carrying our first pup, I’m not losing my mate. Not in this lifetime.

Demons and Hell. It all sounds crazy. But then again, shifters didn’t exist for me until I met my mate.

So if he says Hell’s coming to Magic and demons want to take over the world and all that’s standing in the way is a band of shifters and a dragon witch that is a prophecy come true?

I believe him.

I see another tall, dark man wearing a cowboy hat and this one smirks at my mate as we walk through the woods.

“About damn time you showed back up! It’s been weeks, asshole!”

“Do you not remember what first mating is like?” Raphael grins at him and he growls under his breath, his craggy face flushing.

“This is my cousin, the sheriff. Lobo, this is my mate, Helena.” I shake hands with the man while Raphael glares at him and then rips my hand away.

“Enough! Now I need to go home and fuck his scent off of you!” Lobo pushes his hat back and laughs.

“See you in another week, cousin!”

Raphael drags me to a small cabin in the woods, slams the door, his eyes flashing. “Undress, now!”

I roll my eyes but start peeling my clothes off. Because I like this new outfit and my mate will gladly shred it.

And he rips his own off, revealing what looks like acres of tanned skin and bulging muscles.

Then he tosses me over his shoulder and drags me off to his lair. Our bodies writhe and meld together until we’re one soul on another plane of existence. A plane that only lovers and soulmates find.

He roars out his release and I moan, meeting him thrust for thrust and screaming, wailing like a wild thing when he rolls me and his teeth clamp down on his bite again. Fluttering and pulsing with sated lust and love, I float down until I’m wrapped in his arms, safe and happy.

“I love you, mate,” he groans and tenderly kisses me, his tongue meeting mine, twining gently, softly.

“I love you too, mate,” I say, breathless and happy. Content for the first time in my life.

Both of us have been second-best in some way but with each other? We will always be first and forever.

I rub my forehead on his chest and listen to his heartbeat slow and steady. A low rumble soothes me. His wolf.

I never thought I’d find one love and instead, I found two.

Two wild hearts to soothe my own crazy soul.
