Chapter 53

MWhile we were driving to the restaurant, I asked Sara to call someone on our team who lives nearby to stake out the place.

He called us back and said there are no customers inside the restaurants, but six guards are patrolling the perimeter.

Which is highly unusual, but this is Leon we are talking about.

The bastard’s restaurant is upscale, and the nearest house is almost a kilometer away.

Smart fucking bastard.

The sick fuck probably made me kill his business partner to get closer to me. God knows how long he has been planning to kill Lana and me. The real question remains unanswered: why? That’s something we have to figure out so we can stop him. And we need to do that with Lana.

We decided to have Adam be our eyes and ears, on the lookout, and have our backs. Sara and I will approach the front of the restaurant while Oliver and Josh will approach the back of that fucking place. My team is in position, and Sara and I are hiding behind some trees.

“I see one guard at the door, and two a couple of meters from us. What’s your status, Josh?” I ask through the earpiece in a hushed tone.

“One guard is inside the establishment, while two others are turned with their backs to us. Confirm kill order. Over.”

“Kill order confirmed. Kill everyone you see. Over.”

“Striking now. See you inside the restaurant. Over.” I look at Sara and nod at her. I see her moving like a fucking puma in the shadows, hungry for some blood. Her whole body is practically begging to engage in some violent behavior. I move too.

The guard opens the door and goes inside.

Time to fucking shine.

Sara takes out her knife and moves so quietly that the guard doesn’t hear her coming. She comes up from behind him and drives the knife into his heart. He screams out in pain and falls to the ground. She gets on top of him and takes out her other knife and plunges it into his dick.

This brilliant woman always slices off the dicks of her hits. That’s her call-off sign. She also exclusively kills men because, in her words, they are an abomination.

“M, watch out!” Sara screams at me. She pulls out the knife from the heart of the guard and throws it behind me. The limp-dicked guard screamed so loud that it triggered the other guards. Sara’s knife lodges into the kneecap of the bald-headed asshole who wanted to attack me from behind.

Bad. Fucking. Move.

I run to him with my machete and take a swing at his fucking face. I slice him down from the right side of his face all the way across his fucking eyes. As the blood is seeping from his face, he drops his gun to the ground, and I pick it up. He is on the ground, writhing in pain.

“Where is Leon?!” I scream at him. While he is in agony, I hear gunshots coming from inside the restaurant. My boys are going at it.

“Fuck you!”

“Poor choice of words,” I tell him. “You’ll die by your own gun.” I shoot him in the heart, and I hear someone running toward Sara and me. I turn around, and the guard who was standing at the door is charging toward her. He almost gets here, but a bullet hits his skull before he can get to her.

“Nobody touches my little raven.” Of course, Adam is protecting his woman. I look at Sara, and she is fucking beaming. “Get inside the restaurant, there are more people than we initially thought.”

“How many people?” I ask him as Sara and I move toward the door.

“Four more people. Over.” As soon as Adam finishes his sentence, I open the door. And the scene couldn’t make me prouder.

There is blood splattered across the walls, and tables are knocked over—disarray would be too light of a word on how the inside of this place looks. There are three bodies on the ground, while Josh and Oliver are taking out the other two.

Oliver is sitting on top of a guy, beating his face with his fists.

You can hear every crunch of the asshole’s facial bones breaking, and it’s a delicious sound.

Every bone broken of one of Leon’s men feels like a victory.

Josh does a backflip as his opponent swings two knives at him.

Josh lands on the floor, furious. He plants his feet shoulder-width apart, spine straight, chest lifted—every inch of him radiating calm, controlled power.

He stands up and motions for the fucker to try. Emphasis on try.

In these situations, Josh is the epitome of pent-up anger. Waiting for someone to take it out on.

“Come at me.” His opponent is running toward him, all the while swinging those pathetic blades.

Before he does anything, Josh grabs a chair and hurls it at him.

His opponent dodges it, but takes his eyes off Josh for just one second.

My friend uses this as an advantage as he takes out a gun and shoots his opponent in the head.

He is done, and so is Oliver, by snapping the neck of the guy he is on top of.

“Kill order carried out. Come in. Over,” I tell Adam through the earpiece.

“Coming in. Over.” After a couple of minutes, Adam is inside the restaurant as well. He looks around, and as soon as his eyes land on Sara, relief washes over his face. He runs toward her and picks her up with one arm. He kisses her and sets her down again.

“You guys had a party.”

“And we had a blast. Now, where is our main guest?” Oliver asks as we all start splitting up to look for Lana.

I walk over to a door with a padlock on it, and I ask Sara for her shotgun.

She hands it over to me, and I shoot the lock.

It luckily falls off, and I open the door—it’s the way to their basement.

“M! Help!” My ears perk up, and I run downstairs, holding my assault rifle.

Once I reach the bottom of the stairs, I am met with an inhumane sight.

Lana is tied to a chair while a man is dangling, face down, from the ceiling.

His feet are wrapped around a cord, while the crown of his head is cut off.

Making his blood seep onto Lana. She is enveloped in the guy’s blood.

I run over to her and untie her by using my machete.

She jumps into my embrace, and I hold her tight to my chest. Right now, I realize how much I missed her.

It hits me like a tidal wave—relief so sharp it almost hurts, stealing my breath.

I finally have my arms around the love of my life.

I look at her, and her eyes are filled with tears.

“I found her!” I scream so my team can hear me. I put my hand on her face and touch every part, because I finally have her. It’s wild how much fear I felt, even though I have only been away from her for a couple of hours.

“Little hummingbird, I’m here.”

“You are here. You are here. You are here,” Lana keeps on repeating, like she can’t believe that I’m really here for her. She grabs the sides of my face and kisses me deeply. Fuck, my desire for her lips has intensified even more than before.

“Lana!” Sara screams as she comes up to us and places a hand on my shoulder. Lana and I break apart, and she tries to stand up.

“Not a fucking chance,” I tell her. I scoop her up in my arms, and she nestles herself into my embrace like she can finally breathe freely. Ready to carry her out of his hellhole. But Josh stops me.

“M, look at the right wall.” I was so focused on Lana that I didn’t look at anything else in the room. I look where he points, and I freeze.

There are hands pinned to the wall, probably belonging to the hanging guy, in a praying manner.

Leon.

I look to Oliver, as he is the craziest one of us, to carry out what I have in mind.

“Once we are all out, burn the place down,” I order. Oliver pulls his bottom lip between his teeth, gleaming.

“Done and done, M.”

“Thank you, Oliver. Everybody, regroup at our villa. We have a downfall to plan.”

I get Lana into my car after I have cleaned her up as much as I can, and we drive off. While we are driving off, flames engulf us. The restaurant is burning down.

But soon so will Leon.

Mark my words.
