Chapter 20

Chapter twenty

Wren

My Alpha won’t stop breathing the same word over and over.

Mine.

That’s right. Lyra is mine now. I knew it from the moment I tasted her slick on my tongue; I knew it the instant I gazed into those big, violet orbs.

Hell, I think I even knew it from the moment I found her washed up along the riverbank.

Back then, I saw a soul in need, and I couldn’t just stand idly by and do nothing. I had to help, had to act.

Otherwise, she would have died.

But now, she is my everything. I couldn’t even imagine my life without her in it anymore.

Lyra is mine, and I don’t care who knows it. I will shout it from the very roof of our house; I’ll even scream it so the king can hear me all the way inside his grand castle with its fancy, prestigious court and its long, expansive halls.

That vicious Alpha will never get his hands on her ever again, nor his insufferable lackeys.

Mark my word.

The fact that he has to get his soldiers to do all his dirty work is just proof of his weakness. The king is unfit to rule, and soon the whole kingdom will realize it.

Hopefully, one day, he meets his match. And then we will no longer have to live in fear of his tyranny.

My mind goes back to Lyra. Her sweet slick still coats my tongue as I enter her for the second time. Her fingers turn bone white as she grasps the lip of the tub with such fervor, gasping in utter delight as I slide inside her.

I feel her adjusting around my length, and that’s no easy feat. I am not exactly small, yet Lyra takes in all of me.

“That’s right, Lyra. Take my cock like a good girl.”

The Omega groans at the sound of my praise, and then she adjusts again, swallowing me up further.

She’s pure magic.

Now I roll my hips, thrusting deep inside her as I grab the lip of the tub either side of her head, caging her in with my arms.

We hardly fit in the tub, but somehow, we make it work.

Somehow, we work.

Suddenly, I throw my head back, slamming my hands against the wall just behind her as I finally come.

Lyra follows me straight into oblivion, shuddering and clenching around my cock as she locks her pussy around me.

Then I knot her.

Now, I watch in rapturous delight as my knot makes her belly swell, and she’s so perfect in that moment. Nothing has ever felt more right, which is why I’m hardly surprised when I blurt out, “I want you, Lyra.”

The Omega pauses. Her eyelids fly wide open as I gaze into a sea of violet. I’m sure a star streaks across the violet expanse that is her eyes as I forget how to breathe.

She blinks, sadness hijacking her features. “W-Wren...”

My head shakes. “No. I do, Lyra. I don’t care if it feels sudden. I feel it deep in my bones. You are mine, and... I would like to claim you.”

The Omega swallows several times. Then she closes her eyes, taking a few deep breaths. She nods quietly.

My heart skips a beat.

She actually said yes.

I’m on cloud nine!

Carefully, I lift her from where she rests against the back of the tub, nestling her onto my lap. I brush aside her wet, silvery hair, finding a spot on her throat.

Once I locate the perfect spot, just beside her thumping pulse, I meet those violet eyes.

Before I proceed, I circle my finger over the spot where I intend to bite her, enjoying the sensation of her warm skin as well as her strong pulse.

And then, I bite.

I sink my fangs into her tender throat slowly. She makes a small gasp in alarm, but then I ease the pressure a little to lessen the shock and pain.

I always thought something was supposed to happen when an Alpha bites his chosen Omega. Like stars exploding. Planets aligning.

So, why does the world continue to spin?

Out of nowhere, my soul leaves my body as my teeth remain on her throat. I’m completely frozen. I’m not sure where my soul is even going, but all I know is that it's tethered to hers.

Our souls seem to dance in space for a while until they entwine, becoming one. When I come to, it’s not just my thoughts or those of my brother’s that I sense now, but hers, too.

We’re both in a state of shock. Lyra stares at me, fascinated, as I remove my teeth from her throat, wiping her blood from my lips.

My fangs are stained scarlet with her blood, and it almost seems depraved. Yet it was one of the most magical experiences of my life.

I’m... not sure what to do next. My mind empties of all rational thought. Yet, I feel her inside my chest, like a little butterfly emerging from its cocoon.

Suddenly, I sense Malakai on his end of the bond.

He is pissed.

Quickly, I block off Lyra’s access to the pack bond. At the moment, she is only tethered to me. But just by the mere chance that she can sense Malakai’s hostile thoughts, it’s best to take precautions.

I don’t want her to get hurt by his nastiness. Especially as he doesn’t mean any of it. He wants her just as much as I do.

He’s just denying his emotions.

“What were you thinking?” Malakai growls, his unpleasant thoughts loud and clear.

What was I thinking? I was using common sense, that’s what. Lyra is now my Omega. By the ancient lore of our people, she is mine.

If any Alpha takes her away from us, then they’re stealing.

Biting her and adding her to the pack bond was smart. Gage is a little frustrated that I didn’t at least discuss it with him first, but it was a spur of the moment.

Besides, there is no time like the present.

Malakai is still grumbling, and it’s not my fault he’s a jackass who can’t see past his own prejudice.

But I know he cares about her, too.

We’re all tethered now.

Now, nothing is sacred between us anymore.

Lyra falls asleep in my arms, resting her head on my shoulder as we remain in the bath. So, I grab a bottle of shampoo, massaging my fingers into her scalp. She is still full of paint and another Alpha’s blood, and that last one does not bode well with me.

She reeks of a strange Alpha, and my Alpha is not happy about it.

Next, I pick up a sponge, scrubbing it in circles around her back. She sighs in my arms, and now that we’re bonded, I can feel she’s at peace.

Yet, beyond her peace, there is also fear and doubt.

I just need to make it my life’s mission to chase all that doubt and fear away. Because Lyra isn’t going anywhere ever again.

It looks as if Pack Storm has a new member.
