15. Stevie

CHAPTER FIFTEEN

STEVIE

The entire evening has been a mindfuck, to say the very least. And now with this?

Panic rushes the length of my body, seizing hold of every limb. With a quick whip of my head, my eyes lock with Sebastian’s enlarged pupils.

Does he know?

There’s no way he knew this could happen. He might be a serial killer—a dangerous man, but I trust he’d tell me this. With our eyes locked for only a second, I try to plead with him to say or do something, even though I already know we won’t have a choice.

Sebastian breaks our connection, turning back to Silas. “Absolutely not.”

An unsettling chuckle rumbles from Silas’s chest as he glances around the room at the others. “I don’t think you understand. You do not have a choice.”

“No,” Sebastian sneers.

Silas cocks his head to the side. “We could always make her fuck one of us instead?”

Oh my god. There’s no way I will be forced to have sex with one of these men.

Sebastian quickly jumps to his feet, the force tipping the chair over, causing it to crash to the ground. “Fuck you. No one is touching her.”

“You have options, my friend.”

“She belongs to me. What makes you think I would allow you assholes to watch as I fuck her?” he bites back, and his tone washes me with relief. He isn’t going down without a fight.

“You didn’t bring anything to offer us,” Silas coldly reminds him.

“Yes, we did.”

Silas slowly shakes his head as if finding joy in what he’s demanding. “We need confirmation. Assurance.”

“Assurance?”

“That is correct.”

Sebastian’s palm hits the mahogany table. “I brought you my gun!”

Silas scoffs it off. “The gun you say you use for your kills? That isn’t good enough. It’s impossible to tell if that’s the actual weapon you use.”

Sebastian’s jaw clenches. He’s pissed. The angrier he becomes, the calmer I get. Maybe because he’s responding how I wish I could. “So, you want to watch me fuck my girlfriend instead?”

“Good job, you’re getting it now.” Silas’s smile sends a chill up my spine. “My friends over here need some type of entertainment, and since you’re the newbies, this is a good initiation to prove you’re truly who you say you are.” Then, he casually sips the expensive red wine swirling in his glass.

I squeeze my eyes shut, their exchange echoing inside my head.

Sebastian and I need to keep our focus on the job we’re here to do.

I remind myself that I’m not only doing this for myself, but for my clients, too.

And although I want to throw that fucking glass into Silas’s face, I can’t.

Uncontrolled emotions won’t bring them down.

This entire operation is bigger than Sebastian and me.

I rest a gentle hand on Sebastian’s forearm. He looks at me with frustration and subtle defeat.

“It’s all right.”

“What?” His forehead furrows with confusion.

We need to negotiate with the group. They crave power, and I have to make them believe they have it while also keeping our own. I feverishly flip through all the scenarios where we could do this with the least amount of humiliation.

“I have some rules.” I can’t believe I’m agreeing to this, but I’m more stubborn than letting the simple act of public sex with my fake boyfriend deter me from what needs to be done.

“I love a good deal,” Silas responds viciously.

“We keep our clothes on,” I demand.

“Ste—Annabel.” Sebastian slips my name before catching himself, but I ignore him and list my concessions.

“And?” Silas encourages, ignoring Sebastian’s protests.

I swallow hard. “Each one of you will need to maintain your distance.”

“How far away?” he asks, entertaining the idea of my requirements.

“Every single one of you must remain seated in your chairs. And no touching yourselves.”

A collective sarcastic chuckle moves through the room.

“What type of animals do you think we are?”

“I don’t fucking know,” I say. “We’re all serial killers, right? I can never be too careful.”

He tsks me. “No one ever said we were serial killers.”

He’s right, they haven’t made a direct statement like that, but we are all here for a reason, and I don’t like him playing coy. “Whatever. You don’t trust us. And we don’t—”

“This isn’t about getting our dicks hard or pussies wet,” Silas interrupts me, bound to get his motivations correct. “It’s about loyalty and proving yourselves.” Now his tone is harsh, as if he took offense to my assumption.

“Fine,” I reply.

“And no talking. No fucking comments,” Sebastian adds as he quickly scans around us. “And we will do it in that corner.” He points to a large bookshelf on the far wall. Covered in shadows, it’s the darkest area of the room.

Silas glances at the others, then turns back to Sebastian and me. “Your pants must be down. I don’t like being lied to.”

My heart jumps with nerves—and fear.

Suddenly, Sebastian grabs my hand. “Let’s get this over with.”

He leads me into the darkness.

“How the hell are we going to do this?” I whisper.

I can only make out the sharp features of his face, but the conflict about what he’s about to do to me is written across his face.

“I’m so sorry, Stevie.” His voice level matching mine. “Put your back against the bookshelf. Those sick fucks don’t get to see you.”

“Okay.” I nod. With my hands shaking, I let him turn me around until my spine rubs against the wooden shelves. “What about you?”

“I don’t care. You’re my main concern.” Sebastian’s warm body is flush with mine, pressing me back. His arms come up to clutch my wrists and then wrap them around his neck. “I’m going to drop my pants, then lift you up.”

I blow out a weighted breath, trying to calm myself. “I can’t believe we’re doing this.”

“At least you get to fuck me and not one of them,” he says casually, making light of the situation, but the thought alone brings terror into the gut.

“Oh my god.” I squeeze my eyes shut, blocking out the thought.

Sebastian’s belt clanks on the tiled floor at our feet.

And I know that means I’m closer to having sex with him.

I’m scared, but also exhilarated. I really don’t like him, but Sebastian is sexy and dangerous, and I’d be lying if I didn’t admit to myself I haven’t had thoughts about sleeping with him.

“I’m going to lift you up.”

I nod.

Then he grips my hips and hoists me upward as I wrap my legs around his waist to keep myself upright.

“With my skirt, it should be easy to pull it up,” I say. And if I’m draped in darkness in that part of the room, I should remain mostly unseen. I quickly pull up the hem of my skirt and slide my panties to the side with one hand, before placing it back around his neck.

“You’re shaking.” His dark eyes meet mine, and I realize I can’t hold in my vulnerability any longer.

“I know,” I admit, a tear escaping down my cheek.

Sebastian’s face softens. “It’s only us, Stevie. Pretend those bastards aren’t even there.”

My eyes dart up over his shoulder to see them sitting around the grand table, eyes boring into Sebastian’s back as they eagerly wait for us to begin.

A calming hand meets the side of my face, moving it back to his. “Look at me.”

“I’ll be okay,” I say unconvincingly, dragging my eyes back to Sebastian.

“I might need a little help.” He gestures to his semi-hard cock between us. His statement makes me relax a little, and the corner of my mouth quirks up with a smile. “Can I kiss you?”

“Uh, yeah.” Butterflies fill my stomach with the anticipation of having his soft, plump lips on mine. “Yes.”

Sebastian smiles, then brings his mouth to mine.

His soft lips press into me, sending a bolt of electricity up my spine, lighting up the room around me even though my eyes are closed.

I’m surprised at how my body leans into him without a thought.

Sebastian opens wider, sliding his tongue inside my mouth.

My head turns to the side, wanting him to get deeper.

His soft kiss builds slick arousal between my legs, and I tighten my arms around his neck, wanting more.

He draws back, gliding his tongue along the seam of my lips before pulling away farther.

“Are you ready?” he whispers.

I shrug. “I don’t know.” I did enjoy that kiss, though.

“Can I check?” Sebastian brings a finger up to his lips and slips it into his mouth.

I swallow hard. “What I think you’re doing might help.”

With a subtle grin, he slides his wet finger between us and into the heat between my legs. His touch causes a bolt to shoot up my back. Then his finger slips out and circles my arousal on top of my clit.

Fuck, that’s nice. My legs twitch.

“Damn, Stevie.” His forehead falls against mine. “You’re so wet. I’m going in, okay?”

I rest my chin on his shoulder and nod one more time. Then, he aligns his cock between my legs. My stomach lurches when I feel his tip touch the outside of my pussy, then carefully he slides inside, rushing me with adrenaline.

“Oh my g—” I gasp.

He moves with slow, purposeful thrusts in and out at first. It’s intoxicating, and for a moment, I forget where we are, but when my eyelids crack open and I spot the serial killers across the room staring intently at the show they’re getting, I stiffen again.

A comforting hand returns to cup my cheek, moving my sight away from the scene in front of me. “Eyes on me.” Sebastian’s flared irises capture mine while his hips thrust in and out of me. “It’s you and me, remember.”

“O-okay.” I barely recognize my voice as it comes out shaky.

A single dark hair falls over his left eyebrow. Sebastian’s focus pins me, and I can’t look away. His body rolls into mine again and again as his hard length picks up pace, forcing me to feel every groove and divot of him.

His muscles tense. “You’re doing so good.”

The backs of my eyes sting with tears from the unexpected sweetness of how intimate he’s made this moment under the unnerving circumstances. I find myself not wanting it to end. And to my surprise, I feel my own climax building.

Sebastian continues to move his hips at a faster pace, causing my clit to tingle. My thighs clench, craving the friction and tightening around him.

“Damn,” I grit out through my teeth. I can’t let these men see me experience something this intimate because I’m rarely fully satisfied during sex, so having to hold myself back was not something I considered. But now I find myself trying to stop one from coming.

“It’s okay, let it come.” He kisses the tip of my nose. My insides liquefy at his reassurance—and with that, I let myself feel the orgasm crash into me.

Goddammit, I’m coming. My heart beats faster. My breath quickens.

“Fuck,” Sebastian groans as his thrusts become erratic and uncontrolled. He leans in and brings his lips to mine once again. They’re powerful and hungry.

It only takes a few more thrusts before his body stills, but his breathing quickens. Then I feel the warmth of his cum coating the walls of my cunt. At the same time, my orgasm takes over, and my insides clench tightly around him.

“Are you all right?” He wipes the sticky hair away from my eyes.

The fog of passion dissipates, and the realization of what we did hits me like a freight train.

Sebastian and I had sex.

Oh my god. “Yeah, I’m fine,” I manage to say.

Embarrassed, I immediately wriggle out of his arms and yank my skirt down. Standing on unstable legs, I glance over his shoulder, expecting to see seven sets of peering eyes, but I don’t.

“Sebastian,” I whisper, unable to break my stare at the empty chairs and half-filled wineglasses that scatter the table.

He keeps his back turned away until he’s tucked himself back into his pants. “Yeah?”

“They’re gone.”

Sebastian whips around, his eyes wide when he sees we’re alone. “Where’d they go?”

“I don’t know.” But before my statement leaves my breath, a woman with blonde hair that’s slicked back into a tight bun and a skirt suit steps out from behind a wooden door.

“The members have left for the night. Silas requested I extend his appreciation for the show, and that he would be in contact about the next event soon. Welcome to the Black Veil Society.”

We’re in?

Sebastian squares his shoulders. “So, that’s it?”

“Yes,” she says, gesturing down the hall toward the direction we came in. “I will walk you and Ms. Annabel Lee out.”

“Where’s my gun?” he demands.

“You will get it as you leave the premises,” she says.

Sebastian’s eyes bounce between me and the door, confusion clear in his sharp features. I can tell he wants to ask more questions, or maybe express anger at the lack of details, but he doesn’t.

I slide my hand into his, but unlike a few hours ago, it feels different, like this forced us into unfamiliar territory. “Let’s go.”

He takes a beat before following behind me as the woman lets us out. My stomach clenches, and my thoughts are all over the place. Even with the adrenaline still pulsing through my veins, I can tell the comedown from this night is going to be a bitch.

We are guided up the stairs and back through the dark library until the double wooden doors open into the chilled night air. The breeze whips at my cheeks, stinging the sensitive skin when Sebastian and I step onto the asphalt of the parking lot behind the library.

“Have a lovely evening.” She hands Sebastian his gun before a hard slam of the door echoes on us.

I stand next to Sebastian, both of us staring at his car parked in the far corner.

“What the fuck was all this?” Sebastian releases my hand only for a second to tuck his gun into the back of his pants.

“I don’t fucking know.”

Walking at a measured pace, we both reach his car.

“But we made it in,” I say. “We passed whatever test that was.”

He quickly opens the door for me to climb in, then closes it before responding. I watch as he rounds the front of the car, his head jerking in every direction, scanning the area.

“Yes, we did.” He slides into the driver’s seat and immediately starts the car. It’s dark, but the scowl on his face tells me he isn’t happy with how everything went down tonight. “I’m so sorry, Stevie.”

Biting my bottom lip, I remember what it felt like to feel his mouth on mine and how he felt, but it was for show—we did what we needed to do. “It’s okay. We had to do it.”

“Yeah. I know,” he replies, but his words sound distant.

When his car approaches the highway, we could not be further apart. Only a couple minutes ago we were connected, and now we’re not. It’s jarring.

Why am I worried about how he feels about what happened? He was acting, as was I. We’re working on a project together, and we were playing our part—that’s all this was.

But if that’s all those few minutes were, then why do my insides crave to touch him again?
