VANYA

Seven months later…..

Despite Pearce saying he didn’t need closure, I think he did.

I stayed back with my hand on my huge belly while he had a private moment.

This would be our last trip before our baby girl arrived.

When my lease was up, Pearce and I moved into a brand new five-bedroom house with a loft upstairs, study, and five bathrooms. For the first few months of our relationship, I kept waking up thinking he was going to decide one day that he wanted to go back to Tasha. But that never happened.

We had actually run into her and her date a few months back at nice steakhouse.

She looked happy, and I genuinely hoped she was.

When Pearce walked over to me, I saw that his eyes were red.

My belly tightened at the thought of my man crying.

In many ways Kalim had blessed him, but he had traumatized him too.

I wrapped my arms around him and held him tight.

“I love you.”

“I love you too.”

We walked hand and hand through the sand into our villa. We hadn’t even been inside the room yet. When we approached a door that had a congratulations banner across the front I frowned. “Babe, I don’t think this is the right room. Congratulations for what?”

Ignoring me, Pearce pushed the door open.

Even from the doorway, I could see that the villa was even more grand and gorgeous than the one we stayed in the first time.

My eyes widened at the trail of rose petals on the floor.

There was a bottle of sparkling grape juice chilling in a bucket of ice and chocolate covered strawberries.

I was still taking in the scenery when Pearce got down on one knee.

My sensitive ass began to cry immediately as he pulled a blue ring box out of his pocket.

“Our first trip to Cabo was cut way too short. Our marriage was some shit done off impulse. I never would have thought that Kalim’s betrayal would have led me to the biggest blessing of my life.

From the moment I met you I just wanted to protect you.

And until I take my last breath that’s what I’ll always do. Will you marry me?”

Tears were rolling down my cheeks, but I was smiling so hard my face hurt. “Of course I will. I already did,” I laughed.

Pearce removed my old set before he slid the gorgeous rock onto my finger with the matching band.

“I love you,” he whispered before pecking my lips.

“I love you too. And I’ll beat a bitch up ‘bout you too.”

The end……
