Chapter 3 #2
Fantasizing was typical of any chick my age. But it had been a long time since I’d put a face to the sultry images.
The brooding face of a dark-haired god from the night before. Curly hair falling into his face. Eyes shimmering in the darkness. A body to die for.
By the time I made it to the bottom floor, I’d gotten in all the steps I’d need for two days. I moved toward the aquatic center, passing by the doors leading to the pool. Movement caught in the two windows caught my attention.
Someone was in the pool. That wasn’t a big deal, but the fact the rack of towels was empty pissed me off.
I wasn’t a bitch by any means, although there were a few people who worked here who might say otherwise.
However, that was beside the point. They had basic chores to finish before they left for the day, one being ensure the racks by the pool had fresh towels.
Was that really too much to ask for?
Damn it.
I flew toward the utility room, praying a delivery had been made. Thank God, there were several stacks of them, freshly laundered and ready to be laden with blood, sweat, and tears. Literally.
We had some real bleeders within the membership.
With a stack of them in my arms, I headed back to the pool, although I was waddling instead of walking given the way the duffle was smashing me between the legs.
I constantly blew hair from my face, becoming more annoyed.
By the time I made it into the pool room, I was fit to be tied.
Plus, it was like a sauna inside. Between the room’s temperature and the water’s, sweat was rolling down both sides of my face.
I could only imagine the hair that had fallen from my ponytail was already plastered to my face.
The swimmer wasn’t fazed, enjoying long, even strokes as he crossed from one side of the pool to the other. I couldn’t remember who our regular Sunday swimmers were, but he was certainly energetic, his strokes close to competition level.
Just before I placed the towels on the rack, I couldn’t help noticing his shoulders were very muscular.
No wonder the lap he was taking was in record time.
While there was nothing better than to watch an athlete commanding his or her performance, gawking was typically frowned upon by the hired help.
I turned my complete attention to the towels, ensuring they were just so, folded perfectly so guests could easily grab one instead of a handful.
When I was finished, I resisted taking another peek, moving quickly down the side of the pool to return to my other duties. Just as I rounded a corner, my music shut off. What the hell? Oh, there was nothing worse than having a song cut off in the middle of a bomb dance.
Navigating through the chairs as I fiddled with my phone, the moment of satisfaction in hearing My Chemical Romance was short lived when I hit a brick wall.
While jarring, I managed to bounce backward by a couple of feet without receiving any head injuries, even though a gasp rushed from my lips.
With my body jerking in reaction, my phone slipped from my hand.
Instead of crashing to the concrete floor, it decided to do a little dance of its own, flipping into somersaults as I actively tried to snatch it before my Apple Care was challenged by a pimply faced teenager telling me death by running into a brick wall wasn’t on my contract.
I thought my luck was with me until the phone flipped once again from my fingers, this time heading directly for the pool.
“Shit!” My gasp echoed in the space, my voice louder than I’d intended.
A hand snapped out as if coming from nowhere, snagging my phone even as I lunged for it myself.
With another jarring hit, I reached out to grab onto something. My hands came into contact with another hard surface just before I went down with a brutal thud, every bit of air knocked from my lungs. Not from the fall itself, but from the huge man who’d fallen with and on top of me.
I took gasping breaths, struggling to comprehend what had just happened. Completely winded. A little lightheaded. Thoroughly embarrassed.
And completely certain that the man who’d taken the fall with me wasn’t angry but excited at the events instead. How did I know that? Because his cock was firmly pressed between my legs.
And it was rock freaking hard.
Blinking a couple of times, I was finally able to focus a few seconds later. Still gasping for air. Still in shock.
And surprised he was grinning as he peered down at me.
My earbuds were missing from my ears, likely drowning in the chlorine.
That was an odd moment to freeze, but that’s what I did. Not because I was injured, but because he was a creation of beauty, more so than I’d believed.
Vibrations skittered through me, entirely electric and igniting a fire.
My cheeks became enflamed. Seconds later, the flash fire shifted, slithering between my breasts then lower.
Lust and desire clouded my vision, an ache between my thighs so intense I couldn’t breathe.
I squeezed my legs together until the vibrations became too much to handle.
Even my heart was pounding, which was so unlike me.
Suddenly, my phone was in my face, his hand wiggling it back and forth. “Saved your phone.”
“Uh-huh.” The grunt was all I could manage, especially since there was no wiggle room between us. With nothing else I could do, I stared into the deepest and most soulful pair of green eyes I’d ever seen. They were bottomless, shimmering with flecks of gold.
“Are you alright?” His voice was deep, husky in a way that indicated concern instead of gloating from becoming my phone’s savior.
“I’m just fine.”
He took a deep breath, his eyebrows lifting as he dropped his gaze, locked intently on what my hands were doing.
My fingers were actively massaging his broad, perfectly chiseled chest.
I dropped my gaze as well, instantly feeling the rush of heat sweeping across my jaw, crawling up my cheeks like bugs in the heat of summer. Very slowly, I curled my fingers, doing my best to pull my hands away even with the tight confinement.
Meanwhile, he was enjoying himself, daring to shift his hips. Only once, but it was enough to remind me all over again of his agitated condition.
“You can get off me now,” I added. “I mean if there’s nothing broken and you don’t need for me to call an ambulance.”
