Chapter Two #2
Our driver leaves my property and we make a stop for food and coffee on the way.
I won’t get through the day without a coffee.
I’ve been trying to cut back on them, but it hasn’t been easy.
Not with all the bullshit going on and the lack of sleep from my breakup and then trying to write the new song.
Today is no exception as Memphis laughs at me while drinking his cold tea.
Something new for him as he gets back on track with his diet.
I know the second we get to the venue, he’ll find a gym and get a workout in.
At least one of the guys from Wicked Angels will join him.
It happens all the time when we’re on the road.
Yes, I’ve gone with them a few times and always end up either too exhausted to move or hurt myself somehow.
I’m slightly clumsy when it comes to things like that.
Gym class was always full of laughter because at least a few times each class I was falling, landing wrong, and something would go wrong no matter what I tried to do.

W e’re finally at the venue and I’m more than ready to get out of the SUV.
It’s cramped with everything we brought with us and I wasn’t planning on having Memphis with me on the way there.
I’m glad he is, but it made things a little tighter than before.
That’s okay, I never mind if it’s because of Memphis.
It would certainly make things a lot easier for both of us if we were attracted to one another, but that’s not the case when it comes to us.
We’ve had that conversation when he’s chosen to ride on my bus with me and we just don’t have those feelings for each other.
I view him as an annoying brother and he sees me as a little sister he needs to protect.
Still, everyone who sees us together feels as if we’re hiding a relationship.
Camden did at one point like most everyone else.
He was very jealous of our relationship until we sat down with him and explained our friendship to him.
“I’ll meet up with you later?” I ask Memphis when the driver pulls over behind my bus so no one can see me climb on so I can get showered and changed.
“Of course. I’ll grab us dinner when you’re done with your meet and greet. If you need me, send a message and I’ll be there,” he tells me and I give him a quick hug before he jogs over to the Wicked Angel’s bus to climb on and change.
Getting on my bus, I take a long shower.
I really don’t try to take long ones on the bus, but today I’m taking my time.
Once my hair and body are washed, I rinse out the conditioner and dry off before heading in my room to get ready.
Mindy, my make-up artist, is already waiting for me as I slide a robe on.
“Feeling any better?” she asks me as I take a seat in her chair so she can get to work.
“Not really. Memphis and I wrote this amazing song though. Jagger loves it,” I respond as she starts brushing out my hair.
“That’s great. When will I get to hear that one?” she questions, pinning my hair up so I can put the wig on.
“At the festival tomorrow. We’re debuting it there.
Jagger wants us to record it as soon as possible.
So I have a feeling he’ll be finding a studio for us at our next stop since this festival is the entire weekend,” I inform Mindy as she squeals in excitement.
Mindy is a huge fan of ours and loves hearing new music before anyone else.
She’s been part of my writing process since she got hired a little over a year ago.
Mindy is a fan first but still knows how to be discreet and not break the NDA she had to sign upon taking the job for Wicked Angels and me.
After getting my wig on and make-up done, Mindy gives me three options of clothes to wear for the meet and greet.
Since it’s hot as hell already, I chose the skirt and halter top combination she picked out for me.
They’re both light material and will allow any breeze to get to me.
I’m not even sure where this meet and greet is located.
I just follow my security team to the spot I’m needed and get to work.
“You decent?” Jagger calls out from the other side of the closed bedroom door.
“Come in, Jagger,” I tell him once my clothes are in place.
“You look great,” Mindy assures me, starting to clean everything up so my room isn’t a mess when I’m done with my event for the day.
“You ready to head over?” Jagger questions me as he hoists the bag on his shoulder higher.
“Yeah. I just have to grab my phone and I’m ready to head out. There will be water to drink there?” I return because not all events provide water or anything else to drink.
“We’ve already stocked it for you. The guys from the club won’t be at the event, but they’ll be here shortly after you’re done.
They’re on the way here now. This meet and greet was kind of last minute so I couldn’t inform them to be here earlier than we planned,” Jagger tells me as we leave the bus and head to the golf cart he’s rented for the weekend.
“Okay. I’ve got my normal team in place and if you need to bring extra over, you can. I don’t think we’ll need it though. As long as it’s not Camden, I’m good with whatever you choose to do,” I tell him as I close my eyes and prepare myself mentally for the next two hours of my life.
I love my fans and don’t ever want any of them to feel as if I don’t appreciate the support and love they show me on a regular basis.
Yes, I just had a break, but I’m still exhausted and could do with more time off.
For now, I have to get back in the role of being Ruby instead of Keaton.
Sometimes, it’s not an easy transition for me, but I always make it work one way or another.
