31. Unless you knew where to look

Unless you knew where to look

They hadn’t even truly started doing anything, and Hunter was certain he was going to die.

His heart was pounding, his skin was nothing but gooseflesh, his dick was a lit firework on the brink of going off.

Colby pressed down, and suddenly Hunter was inside of him.

Just the tip. Colby’s face exploded in shades of pink and red, and a noise rumbled from the back of his throat.

Hunter wrapped an arm around his torso and whispered, “Breathe.”

Colby nodded jerkily and inhaled sharply.

Then, as he exhaled slowly, his hips sank lower.

Hunter’s cock felt like it was being strangled in the tight heat of Colby, but that feeling was obscenely incredible.

He’d never known anything like it and he never would again…

but he blocked out that last thought as soon as it barged into his head.

Because nothing mattered in this moment but Colby.

Hunter felt overwhelmed suddenly and completely. It stole his breath, and he gasped as Colby came to rest on his hips. He yanked Colby into him, like a hug but somehow tighter. “Are you okay?” Hunter murmured, then his lips grazed Colby’s shoulder.

“So good,” Colby replied. “You?”

“I’m dying in the best possible way.”

Colby kissed the side of his neck and then ever so slightly lifted his hips and just as quickly but gently dropped back down.

He grunted. Hunter bit his lip so hard he was surprised he didn’t taste blood.

Colby did it again. And again and again—erratic, exploratory, intense.

Hunter tried hard not to snap up into Colby, wanting him to be in charge, but it was so fucking hard to remain in control.

A wild heat was burning through him, and he couldn’t contain it forever. “Fuck. This is so fucking good.”

“Yeah. My god…” Colby agreed, and then Hunter lost control and snapped his hips, and Colby moaned. “Fuuuck. Yeeeessssss. Do it again. Oh God… do it again.”

Hunter forced his eyes open. He watched Colby, his skin flushed, his kiss-battered mouth open, his eyes almost rolling back in his pretty head.

He reached up and cupped the back of Colby’s head.

The product in his hair made it slippery, so his hand slipped to the back of Colby’s neck.

Colby lowered his body, and Hunter rose up to meet him, and they kissed long and deep, and that orgasm began to punch its way to the surface, fast and hard.

“Fuck. Colby. I’m too close. I can’t stop it,” Hunter moaned. “I need you to come, baby. Tell me how to make you come.”

“Oh god,” Colby whispered, his head tilted until their foreheads pressed into each other. “Snap your hips. Move. Hard and fast. And call me baby again.”

Hunter moved his hips as stars crept into his vision. He gripped the back of Colby’s neck with one hand and Colby’s dick with the other. “Baby, come for me. Please, baby, I need you to lose it while I fuck you. Do it, baby.”

Colby let out a whimper and shuddered, and as soon as the first bead of Colby’s cum splashed onto Hunter, his cock jerked and released.

Hunter came so hard inside Colby that his body went numb and his vision blurred.

Colby had kind of crumpled on him, his torso pressed into Hunter’s and his head curled into his neck.

Hunter could feel Colby’s heart thumping against his own.

Oh my God, he was suddenly overcome by tenderness and something deep and warm, and he wrapped his arms around Colby’s heaving back, closed his eyes, and held on.

“Are you okay?” he finally mumbled after their heartbeats were less frantic and their skin had cooled.

“Yeah. I should get up…” Colby slowly lifted his hips.

Hunter reached down to hold the base of his softening cock and the rim of the condom to keep it in place.

Colby dropped down onto the mattress beside him, throwing an arm over his eyes.

Hunter got up and slipped out of the room and into the bathroom to clean up and dispose of the condom.

He dampened a washcloth with warm water and went back into the bedroom to find Colby sitting on the edge of the bed, staring at their discarded clothes in a heap by the door. “Guess I should go.”

“Maybe you should,” Hunter said and walked over to Colby. With one hand on his shoulder, he held him still and wiped his taut belly. Colby took the washcloth from Hunter to clean himself. “Maybe you can leave later, though.”

“I have a driver outside,” Colby said, and Hunter nodded, crawling up on the bed beside him.

They dropped down onto the pillows at the same time, beside each other.

They lay side-by-side facing each other, and Hunter stared into Colby’s glassy eyes, searching for a hint that he was okay.

No, more than that. That he’s good with what just transpired.

“All good? You hurt?”

Colby shook his head. “No. I’m good. That was… I loved it.”

“Me too.”

Colby reached out and dropped a hand on Hunter’s bare hip.

Hunter cupped the side of Colby’s face. His head was swimming in questions and uncertainty.

His body was buzzing with a low-key hum of pure, deep contentment, but his heartbeats felt like a ticking time bomb that would explode once he walked out of this place.

Colby bit his bottom lip for a second and then blurted out, “I want you to text me if you need someone. If something happens that you really can’t get your head around, or if something goes wrong again with your mom.

Or anything. Just don’t lose my number, okay? ”

Hunter wanted to say that was a bad idea.

He wanted to explain that his mom would be okay and stay okay.

But he also knew he would never delete or block Colby’s number; his heart wouldn’t allow it.

So he nodded and pulled Colby closer. He didn’t resist and instead curled into Hunter, resting his head on Hunter’s chest. Hunter pressed his lips to the top of Colby’s head, his hair brushing softly against his mouth.

Colby’s fingers splayed across Hunter’s lower belly, his fingers slicing through his treasure trail.

“One day we’ll get over the rest of this, and until then, and even then, you’ll be my friend.

My people. Even if the world can’t know it yet. ”

“We kind of told them tonight,” Hunter reminded him and closed his eyes to concentrate on the feel of Colby against him. It was better than a weighted blanket and an edible. It was better than anything. “I mentioned we used to be roommates.”

“That pap will forget,” Colby murmured. “I really do have to go. The driver.”

“Mmm… yeah. We shouldn’t make this worse…” Hunter whispered.

They fell asleep tangled together and woke a couple of hours later, as the sun was thinking about cresting the horizon.

Colby’s leg had made it across Hunter’s thighs and his cock, hard again, was rutted against Hunter’s hip.

Hunter rolled him onto his back and climbed on top of him and kissed him until he was writhing, and then he slipped down lower and sucked him off.

He worshiped Colby’s cock with his mouth, and when Colby whispered an urgent warning, Hunter didn’t move away.

Colby came down Hunter’s throat. Hunter wasn’t weirded out by the salty warmth that filled his mouth.

More than anything, he was grateful he stole another first with Colby.

Because Colby’s admitted Hunter won’t be his last, this was all he would have.

Colby barely gave himself a chance to recover before he shoved Hunter back onto the mattress and returned the favor.

And he too swallowed when Hunter’s back bowed off the mattress, and he panted Colby’s name.

Before their heartbeats had regained a normal rhythm, Colby was off the bed and dressing slowly, like a kid who was trying to delay the start of a school day.

Hunter got out of bed too and pulled on his underwear and pants, but stopped and sat back on the bed to watch Colby finish dressing.

He just didn’t have it in him to do anything other than stare.

“I can give you a lift,” Colby offered casually. “If my driver is still outside.”

“I’m good. I can find my way. It’s only a couple blocks. I’m on North Orange Grove between—”

“If you’re sure,” Colby cut him off gently. He didn’t want to know Hunter’s address.

Hunter could walk to his new place from here.

And he would. Because no one walked in Los Angeles, there would be no one to watch the catastrophic emotional meltdown he knew he was going to have.

He got out of bed, and they continued to dress in silence, throwing on all their fancy clothes but not bothering to tuck in their shirts or fasten all the buttons.

Hunter’s jacket hung over his arm. Colby shoved his socks into his pocket instead of putting them on his feet.

Colby held out a necklace toward Hunter. It was a chain like you’d put army dog tags on, but the only thing on it was a key. “I’m not paying rent anymore, which I’m sure you noticed, so I—”

Hunter took it, ran his fingers over the beaded metal, but then he looped it around Colby’s neck. “Keep it. In case of emergency.”

“Like… what?” Colby asked.

Hunter tried to smile. It felt all kinds of uncomfortable and wrong, but he kept doing it anyway. “I don’t know. If the world ends or something. Just don’t… bring anyone here. It’s yours and mine but no one else’s, okay?”

Colby nodded and tried to smile back, but it wasn’t even deep enough for his dimple to appear. Hunter leaned in and pressed his lips to Colby’s, closing his eyes and drinking in the sensation one last time.

Colby broke away first. He took a shallow breath and, on the exhale, managed a ragged, “Take care of yourself.”

And then he left Hunter in the bedroom. Hunter heard the gentle click of the front door closing behind him. He waited a minute, eyes closed, fists balled at his sides, and then he forced his legs to move. He left the apartment and walked back to his bungalow.

With every step, he listed all the things he had that were literally dreams come true—a career as an actor, a hefty and growing bank account, fancy clothes, parents who no longer looked at him like he was a failed experiment, fans, a nice little house, a top-tier agent…

So what if none of it filled the hole left in the center of his chest by not being able to pursue this thing with Colby?

That would eventually close up on its own, like that wound to Colby’s head after the van accident.

You couldn’t even see that scar anymore… unless you knew where to look.

It would be okay. Hunter would be okay…

He had no choice.
