Chapter 52

Silas stops in Tenley’s doorway, an angry glare spread across his face, lifting my hand. I place a finger to my lips, silencing him. The soft glow from her bathroom light illuminates his face. She’d been asleep for awhile, crying herself to sleep after Silas’ words.

He scowls at me before entering her room, closing and locking her door behind him. How often does he come in here and watch her? As often as me?

“What are you doing?” he grits out.

“Watching her, what does it look like?” I whisper-shout. “What's with the face?” I ask him.

“Nothing, it's fine.” I know it’s anything but, I leave it for now, noting to talk to him later.

He moves toward the chair I’d been sitting in, taking a seat and lifting his leg crossing his ankle over his thigh .

“Why the fuck can no one obey a simple rule?” He grunts.

“Are we talking about the rule you put in place, then didn’t obey it yourself?” I ask, clenching my jaw.

Silas scoffs, shaking his head. “We both know I never follow my own rules.”

“She doesn’t have to be our enemy, Silas.” I say looking at our girl sleeping. Unaware she has two intruders watching her.

“You think she’ll willingly be ours?” He levels me with a stern look.

“I think given the news about her father, if we help yeah she might.”

“You’re fucking delusional if you think I’m going to give her something without anything in return.”

“So make her an offer she can’t resist.” I hiss. Looking over at her knowing she’ll have no choice to agree with whatever Silas asks for our help in finding her father’s killer.

After all we’re the Monarch, what good were we if we coudn’t solve a simple fucking murder.

He audibly grinds his teeth, I can see the way his mind ticks over thinking.

“It’s not that simple,” he admits.

Silas never does anything he doesn’t want to, the past has proven that.

“It can be.” I say.

Silas scoffs, running his hand through his hair before pulling on the ends.

“My father knows something, Victor’s death was no accident, he plans to pin his murder on me.” he states watching for my reaction.

“What?” I growl, then snatch my eyes close realizing my voice is louder than I want it to be.

“We’ll deal with it.” He says, like his father pinning a murder on him is no big deal.

“Tomorrow we throw a party, invite everyone.” He grinds out before standing and unlocking her door before exiting .

I guess he’s still thinking.

Tenley freezes when I throw my arm over her shoulders.

I knew it was out of character for me to do things like this but I couldn’t help it when I saw her sitting there, Max and Rain’s eyes growing wide as they watched me.

They’d just sat down to eat lunch when I thought I’d have a word with my little bunny.

“Can I help you?” She asks, eyeing me out of the corner of her eye.

Her brow narrows and she stares at me with those doe eyes of hers, I’ve always been stand-offish, people annoy the fuck out of me, but the way Tenley stands up to me, being the little spitfire she is.

It’s refreshing not having someone afraid of me, or at least doesn't show that they are.

“Nah, I'm good baby.” I wink earning an eye roll from her.

She lets out a soft huff, but doesn't remove my arm as she begins to eat.

Max sits beside Rain and doesn’t refrain from giving me the stink eye as he eyes the way my arm sits on Tenley’s shoulders, I smirk, giving him a wink. He scoffs, tipping his head to the side.

My lips work back and forth enjoying this immensely.

I glance down at Tenley, she shifts next to me, her thigh brushing against mine under the table.

She’s uncomfortable. It shows so toying with her a little, I lift my fingers trailing it across her collarbone, then sliding it up her neck I stop under her chin.

“Do I make you nervous Little Bunny?” I ask.

“You know you do?” She admits, before she swallows.

I almost chuckle, bringing my hand across her face. I move my fingers down her cheek caressing her skin.

“Did you really do what they say?” Tenley asks me. My finger halts, stopping the movement I pause smirking at her.

Tilting my head to look at her I smile, “And what do they say Little Bunny? ”

I know what they say but I want to hear the words fall from her lips.

She breathes out a deep breath before eyeing her friends then her eyes lock with mine.

“That you murdered someone.” She swallows.

Clenching my jaw I knew the rumors, knew no one remotely believed I hadn’t killed that man, but I did, he’s made my sister kill herself because of what he did to her, she died the day he raped her. I just made sure he never saw the light of day again.

“I didn’t murder anyone, Tenley.” I say ending the conversation. My father didn't count, his death would never be anything but justice.

“But.”

“Enough.” I snap, my voice echoes around the cafeteria, the room goes silent with all eyes on us, forcing her to be quiet.

Silas and Jagger join us at the table, Neo joins them a few moments later biting into an apple before looking between Tenley and I.

“Wow, do I need to get my knife out to cut the tension between you two?” His chuckle is thick before Jagger elbows him to be quiet.

“Leave us.” Silas snaps at her two friends and they do without a word.

Silas eyes Tenley, leaning on his elbows he looks directly into her eyes.

“Want to know a secret princess?” he smiles.

“Depends.” Tenley swallows before her gaze filters between us all. My arm still hangs loosely over her shoulder.

“We know your dirty little secret, want to know how?” He smiles.

“What secret? What are you talking about?” she asks, trying to sound convincing as Silas smirks.

Leaning in further he whispers. “The one where you want all of us to take you at once, and maybe you enjoy it when we force you.” Her eyes go wide and she drops her gaze, unable to look at any of us .

“It’s nothing to be ashamed of Princess, we’d be honored to help you.”

Things begin to become intense as Tenley sinks down beside me, she thought her secrets were safe that no one knew she craves what we can offer her.

“Want to know another secret Princess?” Silas smiles and already I know what he’s going to admit to her.

“What?” she says.

“We’re ready to play.'' Her gasp is the last thing I hear before she rips my arm off her and bolts from her chair through the cafeteria and out the door.

“No more messing around.” Silas says standing, we all follow him and head in the direction Tenley went.

It’s time we stop messing around. It’s time Tenley admits she’s ours.

Because she became ours after that night.
