Chapter 59
Blood pools at my feet, dripping from the crowbar in my hand.
The guy’s skull I just used as target practice is no longer recognizable.
A whistle sounds behind me and at first I think I've been caught until Knox-fucking-Lawson comes to stand beside me.
“When you said you wanted to party I didn’t think you meant a death party,” he smirks at his own joke, making me roll my eyes.
“He was a low life.” I tell him, not sure why I'm explaining myself to the likes of Knox.
Waving his hand through the air he chuckles softly before lighting a cigarette and inhaling deeply.
“So your old man know you come out in the dark and bash people’s heads in that he hasn't approved? I mean I love it, don't get me wrong, but I thought Daddy dearest would frown upon that? ”
Knox knows as well as I do we can’t run from our future, our fathers control us and what we will become.
Knox and I are alike more than we like to admit, we both like death, blood is an aphrodisiac to us and we crave control.
The only difference is he’s a fucking psychopath.
“I don't care what he thinks.” I say, even to my ears I can tell it’s a lie.
“Time is running out Creed, you know as well as I do, they’ll end us before we get a chance to.”
Eyeing Knox, I run my hand across my chin, feeling the blood coat my skin as I do.
“We’ll end them, in time.” I tell him.
He sighs, clenching his jaw before he clicks his tongue, the sound echoing through the woods around us.
“They’ll pay Knox, we made a deal.” I remind him.
Nodding he pulls a box of matches from his pocket along with a small can of gasoline. And doses the body in it, before flames coat the body and it begins to burn.
“You and your guys sharing Tenley?” he asks as we watch the body burn.
I nod, not giving him anything else.
“Does she know why she’s here?” he asks.
“She knows enough, what I want her to know.” I say.
“You won’t be able to stop the fall if she finds out about her father.” he says, fighting back a grin.
The fucker.
“She knows her father didn't kill himself, she isn’t that stupid.”
“Yeah but does she know why his life was taken?” he says as he begins to back away into the trees.
“Keep your mouth shut Knox.” I growl, my words a threat.
“Oh I won't whisper a word Creed, but just prepare yourself for the girl to hate you when she finds out you made him sign a contract handing her over to you and your friends, all while your Daddy slit his throat.” and with his final words he disappears into the darkness.
Swallowing down the pit in my stomach, I knew eventually I’d have to come clean, even the guys don’t know the real truth, just what I want them too.
Knox was right, I’d made Vincent sign Tenley over to us, making her rightfully ours. But I had no hand in his death.
That was all my father.
I knew Victor and Elizabeth were outsiders after they had Tenley, I never knew why, but they were banned and cast out.
My father had to have inside information about them to bring Elizabeth back, to make her his wife.
My mother’s death, everything leading up to now. Nothing fits, nothing makes sense.
Whatever the plan is, I need to find out or it won’t just be me that will pay if I fail, my father won’t stop until he destroys everything I care about.
Tenley wasn’t safe and Monarch Prep is the last place she should be.
