Chapter 11 #2
“I’m giving them a place to stay. Actually, Monica’s kind of my live-in housekeeper now.”
“Housekeeper? They’re your roommates now?” Mimi’s eyes widened with sated inquisition before she looked off. “So that’s why Cassie’s half naked… Well, that sounds like you’re having fun. You gave Momo a job, and she gave you a blowjob.”
“You saw that?” I retorted with a grin.
“It was a play on words!” Mimi gushed before hopping off the counter to lean sideways and glare at Cassie before straightening herself in front of me. “You actually recorded that?”
“As revenge, yes.”
“Ooh, you’re feisty,” Mimi’s eyes lit up with dark delight. “Turning your joy into someone else’s jealousy is a delectable kind of petty. How’d your ex react?”
“I actually haven’t checked the texts yet. Woman wrote a book.”
“I’m writing a book! She’s just pathetic!” Cassie hollered.
“Lemme see, lemme see!” Mimi bounced on her tip toes while clapping excitedly, her jiggling cleavage causing my dick to inflate excitedly.
She came across the kitchen and stood beside me, leaning her soft body against my shoulder while peering down into my phone as I held it out in front of us.
“Ouch…” I said as I read the first text..
“Yeah, this isn’t a good look,” Mimi agreed.
The texts were absolutely cringe.
They were so desperate I had to skim. She went through every stage of grief, asking what the fuck was wrong with me, confessing that things didn’t work out with the coworker, followed by gaslighting justifications and shallow apologies along with appeals to get back together.
“Looks like we’re finally even,” I remarked with a shade of schadenfreude.
Mimi quickly commandeered my screen and deleted the string of texts. “There! Now you can get over her and enjoy your baddie phase. Hey, Cassie! Got any plans?”
“You mean besides planning a trip to the Bahamas?” Cassie shouted back. “That’s up to Jax!”
Mimi narrowed her eyes at me with a cheshire grin, not missing a beat. “Let’s order pizza—and some more Chinese! I’m ready to have fun…”
***
Our initial meeting turned into a full hang out session, sitting in a circle on her big rug as we played a game of Cards Against Humanity with the Scary Pack included, fitting in with Mimi’s love of all things spooky.
This girl’s inner child was alive and well.
And it was rubbing off.
Pizza and Chinese food apparently wasn’t enough, so I splurged on a variety of convenience store treats and various drinks.
Connect with an introvert’s interests, and they turn into motormouths. Her knowledge of all the subcultures was damn near encyclopedic. It was like trying to download a Blu-ray quality movie on a dial-up modem.
We were given a primer on goth music, some of which, surprisingly, cross pollinated with a lot of things I was already familiar with.
There was nothing I or Cassie could play that she didn’t already know. Everything from pop, to EDM, to a folksy cabaret music with whimsically dark lyrics about an alien eating brains.
“Who’s this?” I asked to the crooning of cellos and drums.
“Voltaire,” Mimi giggled as she fanned her cards out in front of her.
“I know this one!” Monica shouted as she pointed at the boombox before snapping her fingers repeatedly. “Uh—Invader Zim! That’s where I heard this!”
Mimi squee’d. “You watched it?”
“Pssh!” Monica waved off the question as she turned her face and leaned back. “Girl, please. I fucked with Nickelodeon heavy back in the day.”
“I’ve also got all seven issues and the director’s cut of Johnny the Homicidal Maniac.”
“I wish I knew what that was.”
“You will.”
Ding dong.
“I’ll get it!” Cassie happily jumped to her bare feet, clad in nothing but her sports bra and yoga shorts.
It was the pizza.
Cassie exchanged a cash tip and took the boxes, but what she placed on the floor beside us as she sat on my right caught me off guard. I leaned over to look at the box, and was stunned by the artwork.
“Ninja Turtles?” I breathed.
Mimi grinned while rubbing her thighs with a pensive face.
“Okay, so this is kind of something I like to collect. There’s a local place that does theme boxes, and I’m a regular customer so I asked for a custom design to show on my stream and they just sort of…
went with it. This one’s Leonardo. I’ve got Donatello and Michelangelo in my closet. Turtle power…”
I turned toward Cassie with a look of disbelief. “How is she so cool and so nerdy at the same time?”
Cassie giggled. “Told ya you’d like her.”
“Alright,” Monica spoke up as she grabbed the phone controlling the boombox. “Not that your music ain’t cute, but I need some beats. Apologies in advance.”
“It’s okay,” Mimi replied. “I listen to a little hip hop.”
Monica narrowed her eyes in suspicion. “What, Eminem?”
“And others…” Mimi averted her eyes toward the decorative bookshelf near her couch. “I learned how to freestyle by watching Wild ’n Out.”
Monica stifled a giggle. “You spit?”
Mimi shrugged mischievously. “I wouldn’t say I’ve got bars, but I can string together a rhyme or two.”
“I didn’t know that!” Cassie remarked with a look of excitement as she set down her playing cards. “Can you show us a little?”
“Put her on the spot why don’t ya?” Monica stuck her tongue out at Cassie before touching Mimi on the shoulder. “But if you do—”
“I won’t use the N-word without a pass—but I won’t need it,” Mimi interjected with a girlish cackle as she picked an instrumental beat and stood up to take a breath, looking at me with a slight blush to match the highlights on either side of her face.
And then her entire persona changed as she started gesturing aggressively the moment the beat dropped.
“They call me Mimi and I keep a gun inside my kitchen!
My titties jiggle as it pops the way your dick be jizzin’!
Seeing my cleavage like a Trunks-inflicted sword incision,
Head shot, right between the eyes; double vision!”
Mimi collapsed to onto her knees and covered her face with laughs racking her body as she peeked through her parted fingers.
Cassie and I clapped for her performance, exchanging a look that said, ‘Oh, yeah, she could so get it’.
Monica lost it and squeezed my thigh as she cackled with a tear running down her cheek. “Daddy, if you don’t marry this bitch, I will!” —and then she leaned toward Mimi— “You really got a gun?”
Mimi nodded with her face still covered. “A Sig Sauer P365 with seventeen rounds…”
“Gun nerd too, huh?” I noted as I sunk my teeth into a slice of pizza.
“Who, me?” Mimi let her hands drop onto her lap, staring around with a playfully guilty face. “Teehee, only when I’m at the range. Ooh, the Chinese should be here soon. Let’s play another game!”
A phone call interrupted our conversation. I took out my vibrating cell to silence it, only to note that the number wasn’t a random.
It was my government liaison.
The secret spooks were calling…
