FIFTY #4

Dakota’s heat completely meddles with time.

The room fills with moans and grunts and groans and every sound that drives us all mad.

We’re all hands, mouths, panted breaths, and deep, helpless pulls of her lock clamping down on our knots until we’re spent and slick with sweat.

Every knot gives her a moment to stop instead of panic.

A moment to breathe. A moment to be held.

A moment where Dakota decides if she wants more, less, water, a laugh, a kiss, or someone’s hand to squeeze until their bones start crying.

Ewan takes her with laughter that bleeds into grunts, moans, and long groans, his fingers tangled with hers and his rhythm choppy and messy at first because he keeps kissing her and losing track of what his hips are even doing.

Dakota calls him an idiot and he agrees breathlessly, then knots her with his face buried against her throat, shaking so hard the bond fills with smoke and clove, relief and pure devotion I know she feels.

Kaito takes her later, slow and devastating.

Every movement is careful until Dakota begs him to stop being noble and to “ruin the mood properly.” His restraint breaks only as much as she asks for it to, no more and no less, and when his knot locks inside her, he goes breathless against her spine like all he knows is how to surrender to her.

Fletcher takes her before dawn, not because he is less hungry for her, but because he seems more built to hold everything in place.

Dakota rides him with shaking thighs and both hands braced on his chest while Ewan kisses the side of her neck.

Kaito touches her between her legs, and I sit behind her so she can lean back against me when her body grows tired but her heat still begs for more.

When Fletcher knots her, his control shatters with a rough, broken sound. His hands lock around her hips, not holding her down, just holding on, and Dakota drops forward against his chest with a moan that makes the whole pack bond flare bright and deep.

The sounds of us fill the room.

Dakota’s moans.

Ewan’s scattered praise.

Kaito’s controlled breaths turning ragged.

Fletcher’s Southern murmur against her skin.

My own voice is quieter than the rest, whispering her name every time she reaches for me.

And under it all, the pack bond deepens.

It’s not a chain, and it’s definitely not a cage.

It’s a shape. Four points that surround her.

Four open doors. Four Alphas bound to her by choice, by our willingness to listen when she says yes, stop when she says stop, hold when she reaches, and wait when she needs space.

By the time the heat settles, the room smells like sweat, sex, rain, smoke, cedar, leather, clove, wood, frost, and steel. It smells like us from one corner of the room to the other, rich and thick and everything.

Dakota lies in the center of the bed, exhausted and boneless, one hand on Fletcher’s chest, one foot shoved rudely under Ewan’s thigh, Kaito’s fingers linked loosely with hers, and my bite dark against her throat.

She opens one eye and, with a tired warning that holds a whole lot more amusement than what I think she’s aiming for, she says, “On God, if anyone says pack complete, I’m leaving.”

Ewan’s mouth twitches. “Wouldn’t dream of it.”

“I know you well enough already to know you were literally about to say it. I could sense it.”

“I’ll have you know, I was composing more sonnets. Tasteful ones about your tits.”

“Oh my fucking god,” she breathes, shoving her face into a pillow to muffle the laugh that springs out of her without her approval.

Kaito brushes damp hair from her cheek. “How do you feel?”

Dakota is quiet for a long moment. Long enough that all of us seem to hold our breaths to listen, and long enough that the bond settles around her.

Then she says, “Mmm, like I belong.”

Her fingers tighten around Kaito’s.

Her foot presses under Ewan’s thigh.

Her cheek rests against Fletcher.

Her gaze finds me. “And I don’t hate it.”

Fletcher’s laugh is soft and wrecked. “That’s some high praise right there, darlin’.”

“Don’t make me regret saying it.”

“You’d never,” Ewan murmurs.

Dakota kicks him weakly and the man accepts it like it’s a blessing.

I touch the bite at her throat, not pressing.

Just feeling the proof of it under my fingertips.

She watches me without fear, just a tender tiredness that makes her look soft around the edges.

She’s still all heat and bruises and snark waiting for its time to shine, but there’s absolutely no fear. Not with us.

“Still mine?” she asks softly.

I understand what she means the moment she says it. After the bonds, after the heat, after all of us, she’s gently asking if she still belongs to herself.

“Yes,” I tell her. “Still yours.”

Her eyes flutter closed then and the pack bond settles around us. Not over her, but around her. Holding without trapping. Keeping the world out without trapping her behind walls. It’s a place for her to finally rest. A place to belong. And a place that still lets her breathe.

And at the center of it all is Dakota O’Reilly.

Alive, unowned, and happily belonging, all because she chose to.
