Chapter 44

The coast is clear.

Lucky is busy talking with Bryan by the front door, and the other viewers are distracted. I enter the bathroom and lock the door, turning on the overhead fan. It should drown out the noise I’m about to make.

As soon as I open the cabinet under the sink, my hopes lift. The P-trap is backtracking into a ninety-degree elbow, but the joint is loose—a temporary installation that they likely planned to glue later, but never came back for. Shoddy work, honestly.

Perfect.
