Chapter 2 #2

She’s only been sucking my cock for about a minute when the door to my office opens without warning, and in strolls my father.

I look up at him, a groan of frustration leaving me at the interruption.

His face doesn’t change when he sees what I’m in the middle of.

He just lets out a sigh like this is an inconvenience to him.

Like I’m the one who interrupted him, not the other way around.

“What are you doing here, Dad? I’m a little busy right now,” I tell him.

“I see. Tell your little friend to leave. You’ll have to continue this some other time because we have some stuff to discuss,” he says as he takes a seat on one of the chairs in front of my desk.

“I’m sorry. I’ll call you,” I tell Nadia, as she gets up and walks out of my office without any fuss.

I have no intention of ever calling her again because I feel it in my bones that our arrangement has come to an end.

“Sorry about that, Dad. I didn’t know you were going to be stopping by when I invited her over. ”

“I had no intention of coming here, but your mother sent me over to ask you if you remember she’s still alive,” he says, and I roll my eyes.

Like I said, Ma loses her mind when I take too long to visit her.

I moved into my penthouse a long time ago, but Ma still acts like I’m five instead of thirty.

“I was going to come over after I finished here,” I tell him.

“She also wanted me to remind you that the masquerade party is tonight in case you forgot,” he says with a straight face. Shit, I did forget!

“I didn’t forget,” I lie, and he snorts.

“You’re such a liar. So, are you bringing her as your date to the party?”

“Is there anything else you need, Dad?” I deadpan.

“When are you going to stop being such a manwhore?” he asks with a shake of his head.

“I’m not a manwhore. She’s been the only girl I’ve been with in a while. Besides, according to Mom, you weren’t a saint when you were my age,” I grumble. God! I can’t believe I’m talking about my sex life with my father. Somebody kill me!

“Shut up, you little shit,” he says with a laugh. “So, you’re in a relationship with this one?”

“Daaaddd…” I groan. “Do we have to talk about this?”

“Yes.”

“Ugh! I hate you. Well, to answer your question, no, we’re not in a relationship. We’ve just had a casual thing going on for a little while, but that’s over now. I just have to break the news to her.”

“Son, you’re thirty, which means that your ma is expecting grandbabies soon,” he says.

“You mean both of you,” I accuse.

“No. This is all your ma. Anyway, I have some news for you.” The way he says that, coupled with the smile still on his face, has my hackles rising instantly. I’m pretty sure I’m not going to like whatever the hell is going to come out of his mouth.

“What news?” I all but growl at him.

“Right now, you’re being groomed to take over as head of the family, and that comes with certain expectations.”

“What sort of expectations?” I groan. “Haven’t I been doing all that’s expected of me already?”

“Mostly, yes. But you’re not even working on the most important part.”

“Which is what exactly?”

“Well, for starters, you need to settle down.”

“We’re on this shit again, Dad? Not happening. Next.” I groan again. “It’s not like I’m old. I still have plenty of time to start a family.”

“Enzo, you need to get married and produce an heir. But most importantly, your mother wants grandbabies. Luckily for you, tonight at the party, you’ll be introduced to some potential matches,” he tells me nonchalantly.

He’s calm, but I explode. I can’t believe he’d want to force that shit on me, as though I already have one foot in the grave.

Then again, in my line of work, that may actually be true.

The grave is a possibility at any given moment. But still, I’m not letting this go.

“I’m only thirty for fuck’s sake! I can find a wife and have a kid later in life. Not now!”

“You will do as you’re told and be nice tonight when you talk to your potential lady, or so help me God, I will chain you up in the fucking basement and beat you myself, until you catch some sense!” he yells at me, finally losing his patience.

Ugh! I know the man would do it too. My father has never ill-treated me. He’s always shown me respect and love. Well, he loves me as much as a Mafia Don could love anything without showing weakness.

I have the same respect for him, so we’ve always had an easy sort of relationship. Though he wouldn’t hesitate to fuck me up if I ever earned it, and I’d do nothing but take it. That doesn’t mean I haven’t thought of shooting his ass a time or two.

“Get those damn kill lights out of your eyes,” he tells me, smirking like he knows exactly what I’m thinking about.

“Fine, Father, you win! I’ll entertain the hussies at your damn party tonight,” I grumble.

“Hey, just because your ma is set on having some grandkids around doesn’t mean I don’t want them too.

But just so you know, it was your lovely mother who came up with the idea for you to mingle at the party.

” He laughs. When my mother gets one of her hair-brained ideas, nothing will stop her from seeing it through.

“Tell that betrayer I don’t love her anymore,” I grumble.

“I’m not breaking my wife’s heart. You tell her yourself and face the consequences of that.”

“You guys’ suck!” I mumble, and he chuckles.

“Well, I’ll see you later at the party,” he says before getting up and walking out of my office. “Oh, and your mother left a tux in your old room, so make sure you get there a little early.”

“Yeah, yeah, whatever.”

I love my parents and all, but what the fuck would I even do with a wife and child? I haven’t even found a woman that I can see myself spending the rest of my life with.

“Are you okay?” Nadia asks when she walks back into my office. I thought she had left already.

“Something came up. I’m going to have to take a rain check.”

“Uh, are you sure?” she questions, disappointedly, pouting because she didn’t get her way.

“Yes,” I tell her, not budging. She eventually takes the hint and leaves.
