Chapter 37 #2

“What do you mean?” I ask.

“Nothing… but I never would have fucking agreed to a marriage between him and my sister. And my father is a piece of shit for agreeing to it,” he angrily states.

“Did you know Salvatore and your father were trafficking women?” I question, looking into his eyes for the answer.

“What the fuck type of man do you take me for?” he grunts. “No. I didn’t fucking know. I would have killed the asshole already if I was aware of it. That is one of the things I’d never get myself into!”

By the vehemence in his voice, I believe him. “We can both agree on that. Just so you know, I’m going to kill them both when I find them,” I vow.

“How about we both take turns fucking them up? She’s my sister and your ‘wife,’” he says, using air quotes that make me want to punch him in the face. “So, I think that gives us both equal rights to fuck with them.”

“I’ll think about it, you fucking pain in the ass! But just so you know, my wife or child isn’t going anywhere with you,” I grunt.

“You got my freaking sister pregnant!” he yells.

“She’s my wife, asshole! What the fuck do you think people do when they’re married? And just so you know I’ll kill you if you try to take her away from me,” I threaten the ass.

“Trust me, she’ll hate you if you kill me since I’m back from the dead and all,” the asshole smirks. “By the way, I have a list of properties I know my father has and also the ones Salvatore does too, because the two of them are literal idiots. And you know… information is always valuable.”

“Hmm. You might turn out to be useful after all,” I grunt.

He hands Xander a piece of paper listing properties and their locations. I look at the time and see it's already midnight. She’s been gone for about eight hours already, and it feels like a lifetime.

Xander instantly pulls up all the building and property records to see what’s what. The commercial properties are out. There are too many eyes around those areas.

“Check to see if any of those properties are anywhere outside the city. I would think they’d need privacy since they know my men would be combing the streets here looking for her,” I tell Xander.

“Oh, good thinking, boss,” he replies as his fingers begin to fly over the keyboard.

“Bernardo has two, north and south of the city, and Salvatore has two, west and east.”

“Check to see if there are any CCTV cameras and footage around those properties,” I instruct.

I’m on pins and needles as he begins to do his hacking shit. A moment later, four monitors display footage from four different locations, and he begins fast-forwarding through footage from a couple of hours ago.

“There!” I snap, pointing to the screen, and we watch as the men who took her take her into one of the properties. “Who does that one belong to?”

“Salvatore,” Xander says.

“Let’s go get my fucking wife back,” I tell them and walk out the door.

My men are all gathered in one of the rooms, and they all snap to attention when I walk in with Luca, Aldo, and Xander following behind me.

I can see that many of them are sporting a look of surprise when they catch sight of Luca. No one besides my father, Aldo, and Xander knows that Luca and I have done a lot of business together—and well, my wife too, since I told her about it.

“We have a location on my wife. I need you all to get ready,” I instruct them.

“Yes, boss!” is chorused around the room.

“How far are we from Salvatore’s place?” I ask Xander.

“An hour away,” he responds.

“Okay. We’re driving, and I want us to get there in half an hour or less,” I say to my men before turning to Aldo.

“I also need the helicopter, but we need to go in quietly first so they don’t hear us coming.

I don’t want them to panic and kill my wife or hurt her.

So, you’ll fly there and land a mile or two away, and as soon as we breach the property, I’ll let you know so you can get there as fast as you can. ”

“Got it,” everyone says.

“I’m on it,” Aldo confirms.

“It’s a pretty lonely stretch of area, but there are three houses there. Their men are in the outer two, and Salvatore and Bernardo are with her in the middle one, from what I saw on the feed,” Xander mentions.

“Alright, everyone, head out. Xander is sending you the location,” I tell them, and they all grab their weapons. “Make sure all of you have a suppressor on your rifles. We’re going to try and do this as quietly as possible.”

Luca and I arm ourselves and walk out the door, leaving Xander behind so he can keep an eye on things and keep giving us information.

We get into the back of the SUV and we’re off. My guys take my word to heart because we’re speeding down the streets. Thank God it’s so late, so there wasn’t much traffic on the road. They really speed things up when we’re driving out of the city.

We stop a mile away from the location, and everyone gets out of their vehicles. From what I saw on the CCTV footage, the back of the property is lined with trees, so that at least gives us some cover to close in on them.

The front is where the road is, so they would have seen us if we had driven any further or arrived by helicopter.

“I want you guys to move like you’re fucking ghosts. The priority is making sure we get my wife out of there safely.”

“Yes, boss!”

I point out teams. “You guys go and find cover by the trees and when you’re in position, the rest of us will follow. The next team go with them and cover the furthest side. The rest of us will take the front and side that’s closer. Everybody got it?”

“We got it, boss,” they tell me.

“Shoot to fucking kill anyone and everyone who is not my wife, Salvatore, or Bernardo. Leave those fuckers for me and Luca.”

They nod, then run quickly and quietly to take their positions. A few minutes later, the two teams let me know they’re in position, and the rest of us hurry over, making sure we’re quiet as well.

A couple of our enemies are patrolling around the perimeter of the three houses, and I lift my rifle and shoot, my men doing the same.

It’s a soft pop, and I watch in satisfaction as five men fall to the ground in sync.

“Move in!” I murmur into my earpiece. My men know the drill, so a few of them stay back to continue surrounding the perimeter while the rest of us move in. If anyone tries to escape from the back, they’re definitely going to end up with a bullet in them.

They take the two houses on the sides while Luca and I, along with a few guys, breach the middle house quietly, of course, by picking the locks.

“Aldo! Get your ass over here ASAP!” I say into my earpiece as we make our way into the house. My steps are quiet, and when we’re past the foyer, I point toward the upstairs, and two of my guys quietly make their way up the stairs while the rest of us fan out.

I hear a low pop from the kitchen as I’m making my way to the living room.

The television is on, and two guys are watching, their backs to us, so they don’t see us coming.

I quickly shoot one of them in the back of the head, and his head jerks before he slumps forward, just as Luca lunges for the other one.

Before the guy can even turn around Luca already has his arm wrapped around the guy’s neck from behind with the other clamped around his mouth. I step around the couch, so that I’m standing in front of the man.

“If I tell him to move his hand are you going to make a sound?” I ask, and he shakes his head. “If you do, I’m going to shoot you in the balls.” I aim my gun at his nuts so he knows I’m not playing. Luca removes his hand from his mouth.

“What do you want?” he sneers.

“Where are Salvatore and Bernardo?” I question. He looks at me with nothing but hatred in his eyes. “If you don’t answer me in the next second, I’m pulling the trigger.”

“B-basement,” he stammers.

“Thanks,” I tell him as Luca releases him. He lunges for me, but I’m quicker and fire off a shot straight to his head.

Luca and I quickly head for the basement, our steps slow as we make our way down the stairs. We’re halfway down when I hear my wife scream.

“No! There’s no way he’s getting his hand on my baby! There’s no way he’s keeping her!”

When we get to the bottom, I see Salvatore and Bernardo in a little cell with my wife, and Salvatore has a knife in his hands.
