“You’re never going to lose me. All right, back to my question. Will you marry me after the dust settles, sweetheart?”
“Of course, I’ll marry you, Garrett,” Angelica cried, her voice choking. “I’d elope with you tonight if things were different … but we must wait.”
“I love you so much; I’d wait a thousand years for you. Look at me, honey.”
Angelica’s large eyes swelled with tears as she gazed at him with longing.
Garrett could finally do what he had dreamed of. He nuzzled his face into her wild, sexy hair. That damn intoxicating perfume was there again. Breathe in and lose his mind.
His fingers combed through her hair, awakening his senses, lingering on the shelf of wishful.
The tip of Garrett’s tongue slid over her temple, tenderly caressing every inch of her scar before finding its way home to her lips.
His lips brushed over her full, inviting mouth—imparting it to memory—before ending their journey, merging and melting into hers.
Angelica tasted sweet, like new love, fresh beginnings, and ever after.
A taste he could savor until the end of time.
But she caught him off guard. Everything about her did.
This little wisp of a girl knew how to play the kissing game.
Still, this wasn’t a game. The games had ended, and Garrett had stopped keeping score.
He couldn’t keep score if he wanted to. This was one of those moments when he had to give in, give in to the lure, the allure, the intensifying magnetism, the joint, and the thirsty desperation erupting in them.
As Garrett pulled her closer, her fingertips stroked his neck, ran through his hair, drawing him closer as well.
Angelica had never touched him before. She’d hugged him and leaned on his chest as a pillow, but he had never felt the pleasure of her actual, seductive, purposeful touch.
Hesitation didn’t exist, only an urgency, a much-welcomed urgency not only in her fingertips but rising from her depths.
Angelica’s sultry kiss conveyed genuine love and endless possibilities, far beyond expectations. Without a word, he heard her alto voice sing—“Where have you been all my life?”
It was impossible to believe that so much passion could inhabit this delicate creature’s spirit.
Part fairy, part angel, part seductress—every bit a woman.
Hell, Angelica was 100 percent seductress.
Hell, Garrett didn’t care if she shed her innocent sides that bore wings.
If this were the warm-up activity … Well, he was doomed to die in her arms, loving every second of it.
Garrett’s searing kiss was more than memorable; it was breathless, breathtaking—everything that took her breath away and left Angelica weak in the knees, worthy of swoons and sighs.
And sigh, she did as she was pulled into the moment.
The man she shared that moment with was fighting fire with fire, holding nothing back.
She eagerly embraced it and poured out her fiery share.
This was emotional combat with no losers, no white flags hoisted high, just winners.
She’d need mouth-to-mouth resuscitation after kissing him.
Oh, heck, if he could do this with his kiss …
Like the story Angelica crafted on the page, this was magical. But this time, it lived in her heart and transported her to a distant galaxy, among the stars. And she couldn’t wait to take up permanent residency there.
If a kiss possessed the power of words, it did, calling to her unfulfilled heart—“I’ve been waiting for you forever.
” Promising to last longer than a season, Garrett’s kiss offered infinite, unwavering devotion and passion.
The kind found only in eternal love. A love she sought and longed for.
A love that couldn’t be bought and was freely and lovingly exchanged between them.
Short-winded and dizzy, they came up for air.
Angelica fell against his chest and gasped, “Oh, my gosh. I think we’re in trouble, Garrett.”
Blowing in her ear, he said, “If this is trouble, I’ll take it on, darling.”
Garrett wrapped Angelica snuggly in his arms. “So, my beautiful future wife, where do you want to go from here? It’s your call.”
“Take me home, Garrett … I want to go home.” She kissed him on the cheek. “You have a bigger bed, anyway.”
“The heck with the bed. I thought we could christen the floor in front of my fireplace.”
“You’re awfully presumptuous …”
“I thought I was lagging in that area …”
Before Angelica could reply, small, fast-moving paw pads scurried into the room. Jumping onto the chair’s armrest, the frisky feline startled them before headbutting Garrett in the arm.”
Yes, you can always trust a man that your cat trusts!
“You know, this is a twofer deal. Love the lady, love her cat, Sir.”
“Daisy? Kitty and I have a thing going, Miss. She’s my new little pal and our first four-legged child,” Garrett said, snickering. “Thank goodness. I finally won’t have to tip anymore …”
“No more tips? You’ve got that all wrong. I’m expecting a lifetime of tips, Sir …” Angelica purred.
“I’m game as long as you tip me back.” Garrett winked. “And not in gold!”
