Chapter 10 Seeing Is Not Believing

When I woke up, I felt a little dazed.

It had been so long since I slept that soundly.

Zhou Muyan still wasn't awake. His arm stayed locked around my waist. No matter how I pried, it wouldn't budge.

After all that struggling, the person behind me seemed to wake up.

The arm around my waist tightened a little, and my body pressed completely against Zhou Muyan's.

"Zhou Muyan, let go!"

I opened my mouth and bit down on his other hand.

But Zhou Muyan still didn't move an inch.

In the middle of struggling, I felt something poking me.

"Zhou Muyan, did your phone fall into the covers?"

Zhou Muyan suddenly pinned down my squirming body and said, "It's not a phone."

"If it's not a phone, then what is it? Take it out."

Zhou Muyan suddenly grabbed my hand and pushed it down into the covers.

"What, five years without it and you already forgot?

"Xie Xinran, you really have a short memory."

The moment he pressed my hand there, my face felt like it had been set on fire.

"You—aren't you supposed to be unable to?"

"So, what did you figure out from that?"

"What?"

Zhou Muyan flicked my forehead and said,

"Hearing is unreliable, and seeing isn't always believing either. Especially media reports—nine times out of ten, they're fake."

But most of the time, we couldn't tell what was true and what was false.

I only remembered that those words back then really had come out of his mouth.

I pulled my hand back and calmed down.

"Thanks for teaching me that lesson. Can I leave now?"

Zhou Muyan looked at me in disbelief.

"Xie Xinran, I said so much. Did any of it sink in?

"Is it really impossible for us to go back to the way we were?"

I froze for a long moment and chose not to answer.

Zhou Muyan watched me change and pack in silence.

When he saw me pick up my luggage and get ready to leave, he suddenly spoke:

"Mingming's Surgery is set for tomorrow. Are you sure you won't wait until he's out of danger before you go?

"With you by his side, his emotions will be more stable.

"Like that night—he cried and asked for you. I called you because I wanted to pick you up and bring you to the Hospital.

"Relax. I won't force you anymore. You can leave whenever you want."

This was probably what it felt like to have someone grab you by the soft spot.
