Chapter 16 I Decided to Stay

That night, I knocked on Zhou Muyan's door.

Then I gave the Property Deed back to him.

"We can't take something this expensive from you."

Zhou Muyan hung his head, looking a little dejected.

"So you're still leaving?"

I sat down beside him and said it straight. "No. I've decided to stay."

Zhou Muyan lifted his head in disbelief. "What did you say?"

"I said I'll stay."

At that, the delight in Zhou Muyan's eyes looked ready to spill over.

"Really?"

I added, "Of course. But I'm doing it for Xie Mingming."

Zhou Muyan shook his head. "That doesn't matter. I won't get jealous of the Child. You can always put him first."

I let out a short laugh.

This man was practically winning himself over.

Zhou Muyan pushed the Property Deed back into my hands.

"I worked myself to the bone for this day."

"Believe me or not, I still have to say it.

"There were a lot of things I couldn't control before, but when I said I'd marry you once I made it, I meant every word.

"Do you know why my mom doesn't dare stop me anymore? Because now the Zhou Family answers to me."

I understood perfectly. Everything he said sounded like he was clearing away my worries for me.

I stood up. "Mm. I'll think carefully about what you said."

Seeing I was about to leave, Zhou Muyan grabbed me with that eager look in his eyes.

"One more thing."

"What is it?"

The tips of Zhou Muyan's ears went red for no clear reason, and he stammered,

"That car accident was real. The injury down there was real too.

"Even now, I still don't know if I can actually perform. How about you help me check?"

I froze for a long moment. "Zhou Muyan, do you even hear yourself?"

"I'm serious. If I really can't, I won't hold you back."

The explanation was bizarre, yet somehow it made sense to me.

I closed my eyes and thought, fine—call it a good deed.

Then Zhou Muyan flipped me over and worked me over for the entire night.

Men's mouths really couldn't be trusted.

Not working? He was more than capable.

When I walked out of the room the next morning, my legs were still shaking.
