CHAPTER FOUR
-
DIMITRI
Her soul surrenders instantly. The most mind-numbing feeling overtakes me, and light explodes out of my sweet little sinner—my mate. I explode inside of her cunt and growl as she tightens around me.
When a king takes his mate, his knot stays locked inside his Queen until her body has accepted him and she has undergone the change in her soul.
She surrenders so easily to me, and it makes me angry.
How badly was my little sinner hurt that she would bend so easily for the devil?
We never know the exact details of a soul’s former life unless their placement comes into question.
I will make it my mission to find each and every pathetic fucker that hurt my Queen and make them regret the day the universe birthed their soul.
When her body goes limp, I can pull myself out of her. I hug her to my chest and turn to face the others. “She is my mate. She’s not going anywhere,” I say with finality.
“Dimitri,” Artimus says with a heavy sigh.
“You are my brother, Artimus. Do not get in my way because you know I will not back down from this,” I growl.
“Why did you mate her?” Cassius, another brother and council member, asks.
“She is not going back,” I say simply.
“Dimitri, we already…” Artimus starts to say.
“No!” I say louder, my voice making everyone go silent. “She is staying with me, and that is final. If we have to go through trials, so be it.”
“If she fails the trials, she will lose all memory of this and go back,” Artimus warns me. “Are you prepared to lose her like you did Vanessa?”
“She won’t,” I growl, holding my mate against my chest. She sighs softly, and I would fucking melt for my little sinner. I look down at her, and she is sleeping peacefully in my arms.
Artimus looks around, and I can tell they are questioning if I have finally gone insane, but I will do anything to keep her. “Alright,” he says. “One week and the trial begins. Make sure she understands and is ready.
“Fine,” I snap before taking Piper past the council. Once we are out of the main hall, I teleport us back to my realm—her new home. Zaar is at my side in an instant as I lay her in my bed and pull the thick duvet up to her shoulders.
“Is it her?” Zaar asks.
“Yes,” I say, looking down at my mate. “She’s come home again.”
