Chapter 16 #2

“I understand what you mean about him though. Kingston is…extremely rough around the edges.”

“I don’t know why.”

She tells Willow to check to make sure he isn’t in the hall, and for her to close the door. By now, they’ve finished doing my nails.

Lynette wraps an arm around my shoulder, pulls me closer until I’m resting my head on her shoulder. “Frost had a tough upbringing.”

“Before you go on, explain how and why people call him Frost.”

They all cackle. “The name is obvious, and when you’re in an MC, they choose nicknames.

It can be a physical character trait, what they do for a living, a habit, anything to signify who they are.

Frost is Frost because of his cold demeanor.

Skull is bald. Even us old ladies have names.

I’m Duchess, Joslin is Cougar, and Willow is Satin. ”

I gesture to the other women. “What about their names?”

“They’re Sweet Butts.”

“Sweet, what?”

“Sweet Butts. Old ladies are girlfriends or wives to one of the patched men. The Sweet Butts come to the club to party and fuck.” My eyes widen. “These two, Casey and Kimmy, are cool. They don’t go after club members who are attached. Some of them do, which causes a lot of in-house fighting.”

“What was so tough about Frost’s upbringing?”

“I think he should tell you. It would be a great way for the two of you to get to know each other.”

“Sorry, but I don’t want to know him. I can’t forgive him for the tattoo and the assault, which he doesn’t even believe was an assault.”

“What did he do?”

“After drugging me, he took off my clothes, fingered me while masturbating, coming all over me.”

She pinches the bridge of her nose and says to no one in particular, “Damn, King. Why are you so harsh?” Her eyes meet mine.

“Violence has always surrounded King, and he has a temper, which was most likely inherited from his parents. He’s hardcore, and lives by his own rules.

It pretty much sums up the MC lifestyle.

He probably thinks you belong to him, so he has a right to your body.

” Holding up a hand, she quickly adds, “I’m not saying it’s right, but that could be his reasoning.

He believes the same holds true for you.

If you want his body, you have a right to it. ” She swallows. “But Stevie?”

“Hmm?”

“The way he is with you…the way he blew that guys face off…I’ve never seen him enraged like that over a woman. He’s been pursuing you from the start. Is he going about it the right way? Absolutely not. Again, Frost finds his own meaning to life.”

“And I disagree with his ways.”

“For the time being, you’re in his house, so it might be best to at least try and get along?”

I put some distance between us. “Could one of you drive me to my apartment?”

Lynette glances at the other women, and then me. “How are you going to pay for it? From what we know, your boss fired you.”

“What about staying with one of you until I’m able to find a job and a place?”

“Stevie, stay here. You have your own bedroom and bathroom. Kimmy and Casey live at the club, along with Willow. I’m expecting a baby and Joslin lives in a one-bedroom apartment.”

“So, basically no one wants to help me out in that way.” I slide out of bed, leaning against the wall. “I’m supposed to stay with some crazy convict biker who doesn’t know gentle or caring if it bit him in the ass.”

She stands next to me. “It’s not about helping you out.

This is the best place for you right now.

There’s more protection here than out there.

Things will heat up after what went down, and Frost’s home is protected by security codes, alarms, etc.

” She nudges my arm. “Besides, from what you’ve told us, it sounds like Frost is trying to find his caring side.

” Shifting until her shoulder rests on the wall, facing me, she continues, “The thing is, Stevie, Frost has never experienced gentle or caring, so it’s completely foreign to him. ”

“How does someone go through life without ever experiencing it?”

“Horrible parents. Being brought up by the MC. The brothers love each other, but there isn’t any huggy feely moments.”

“Girlfriends? Ex-wives?”

“None. Growing up, Frost only knew fucking. The emotional aspect of it was missing. It’s only been in his older age that he has witnessed his brothers and their wives or girlfriends’ affection.

Still, Frost lives a Neanderthal life.” We laugh.

“I’m not expecting you to forgive him overnight for what he did, and he definitely needs to apologize.

Groveling would be nice, but that’s too far-fetched.

Maybe try to become friends until you heal?

” I nod. “Good, then let’s go downstairs.

We brought food for the both of you, and I made some edible brownies.

They might help you have a good night’s sleep.

Oh, and before I forget, you have a lifetime free at the salon.

” My eyebrow rises. “And we’ll only do your hair the way you want it. ”

Downstairs, Frost is watching TV, so I lean on Lynette while she shows me the food and where the instructions are to cook it, and then they leave me alone with a scary biker who has his own agenda.
