Chapter 12 #2

I didn’t say anything because I was riveted on Kolya’s screen. He was flipping through different houses that were almost as big as Kirill’s house.

My eyes bugged out at the property prices. “That one is twelve million.”

“Too small?”

“No!” I laughed. “I don’t want to live in a house that will need an army of servants to maintain. I want a cozy home.”

Kolya frowned. “It needs to have proper security.” He stashed the phone away. “We can always build.”

Was this man overwhelming or what? I needed to set his expectations because I was still coming to terms with him being a part of Sebastian’s life.

“We need to slow down,” I told him sternly and gave him the strict headmistress glare. But his eyes heated, and before I knew it, he backed me against the wall.

“Kolya!” I gasped.

His mouth hit mine, not kissing me, but grazing my lips. My whole body caught fire as he pressed against me.

“You were saying?” he muttered. He trailed his nose along my jawline, inhaled sharply, and then moved to a different spot along my neck like my pulse. If I weren’t mistaken, it turned him on. And of course I was turned on when he was.

“Slow down.” The words escaped as a whimper, almost begging for the opposite: go faster.

He towered over me, and the breadth of his shoulders blocked out the light.

His teeth nipped at my bottom lip. Our breaths mingling.

I hadn’t had sex since our weekend together.

Being pregnant, in hiding, and being a new mother didn’t allow for such indulgences.

I’d even lost my libido for a while, and it only returned recently.

Well, since Kolya. And his presence only reminded me of the way he’d wrecked me during our weekend fling.

I didn’t even realize my body had the flexibility to be bent into such positions.

“Oh God,” I moaned as I felt the growing evidence of his erection. I wanted to slip my hand behind his athletic shorts and circle the smooth, veined cock.

“Last I remembered, it wasn’t God who made you scream and beg, baby.” He rocked his hardness against my pussy. And my center pinched exquisitely. The sure signs that it wouldn’t take much to make me come.

He smirked at me before he captured my lips and switched our positions against the wall so I was riding his thigh while he devoured my lips.

I moaned into his mouth, and all thoughts of self-preservation scattered.

The defenses I had erected against him over the weeks crumbled.

When I saw the promise of him as Sebastian’s dad, I entertained hot thoughts about him.

How no one seemed to measure up. How none of Margo’s matches ever even made me lukewarmly interested.

Here and now, we just fit.

I molded my curves erotically to the shape of his muscles. At the continued rubbing of my pussy against his thigh, I finally broke and cried out.

I pulsed and pulsed as the waves of my orgasm crashed over me.

I was still coming down when Kolya stiffened. And my heart slammed into my throat when he spun us around.

His body shielded mine. We were not alone.

“Am I interrupting something?”

Kirill. His voice was amused, but on the edge.

“What the fuck are you doing here?” Kolya demanded.

“It’s my property.”

I peeked around Kolya’s massive form to see Kirill nonchalantly heading to the kitchen and opening the cabinets as if he didn’t just walk in on me and Kolya in a full make-out session.

“Wrong fucking answer.” Kolya stalked toward Kirill, who had found what he was looking for.

Vodka. He set the bottle on the counter, found two glasses, and looked at me. “Do you drink?” By this time, Kolya had reached Kirill’s side and was practically snarling at him, but Kirill’s face remained unreadable.

“I could use some alcohol right now.”

Kolya glared at me.

“What? I’m already drinking wine,” I teased. I had a feeling Kolya wanted to resume our make-out session. “I can move on to the harder stuff.”

A slash of a grin broke through Kirill’s bland face.

“Did you have a fight with Lucy?” I asked.

“No.” He filled three glasses. “But she’s not happy with me.” He tossed his phone on the counter, and I could see messages pinging it.

“Why are you here, comrade?” Kolya finally lowered his aggression a notch.

The way Kirill’s icy blue eyes focused on me made me squirm. “You might want to take a sip of that.”

“Oh no,” I whispered. “Something tells me I should, too.” I let the vodka burn down my throat before croaking, “Is Theo okay?”

Kirill chuckled darkly. “That asshole.” He glanced at Kolya. “I should have left the King brothers at your mercy.”

“Wait, what did he do?” What could Theo possibly have done that would drive Kirill to drink?

The door to our cottage opened, and Lucy walked in, looking pissed as a wet hen. Well, she was dripping from the rain.

“Kirill Zahkarov!” she shouted. “How dare you run off in the middle of an argument?”

“The two of you can’t simply walk in here,” Kolya growled. “And lower your voice. Sebastian is sleeping.”

Lucy slapped a hand over her mouth as if she finally remembered there was a toddler in the house. “Sorry.” But her eyes continued to shoot sparks of annoyance at her husband. “Well?”

“I’ll never agree to it,” he told his wife in a tone that spoke of finality.

“It’s not your decision now, is it? It’s Aralina’s.”

“I’m the pakhan of the organization.”

“What does Aralina…?” I trailed off. “Wait…”

“Fuck,” Kolya spat and glared at Lucy. “Please tell me Theo didn’t just suggest marrying Aralina.”

“Marriage between a King and a Zahkarov,” I whispered, echoing the secondary condition in the trust.

“He’s what?” Kolya gritted. “Twenty years older than her?”

“Fifteen,” Lucy corrected. “I’ll try to reason with Aralina, but acting like an overbearing warlord is not helping.”

“Quite the opposite.” Kirill downed his vodka and poured another glass.

Lucy snatched it away, and just to spite his wife, Kirill drank from the bottle.

“Ivan is waiting at the main house,” she informed him.

“Ivan is here?” Kolya asked, his gaze falling on me. A slither of complex emotions snaked its way up my spine, making me shiver and then stiffen.

“Should we knock some sense into the old man?” Kirill suggested.

“I’ve got your back, comrade.” A gleam entered Kolya’s eyes. It was the killer instinct. His face right now was so different from the doting dad of the past five days.

Lucy rounded the counter and grabbed her husband’s arm before looking at me. “I’m sorry for barging in here.”

“I…this news is…huge.” I was still at a loss for the right words, especially with Ivan close by. It sent me into stasis.

“Isn’t it?” Lucy grinned. “Come on, big guy, let’s go see Ivan.”

Kolya came around to me, his gaze searching mine, sensing the turmoil inside me. “Are you all right?”

“Why wouldn’t I be?” But a bitterness started saturating my tongue. It was a mixture of Ivan’s presence and the fact that I had caused this problem. If I hadn’t come out of hiding, would this have been necessary? “You should probably go and back up Kirill.”

Kolya’s expression looked torn.

“You’re his second-in-command.”

“Not really.”

“Yes, you are. He came straight here.” I blew out a breath. “Go back him up. Except promise me you’ll say no if he suggests getting rid of Theo.”

Kolya laughed briefly before giving me a peck on the forehead. “You got it.”
