10. Winver
TEN
Three months of his constant love, care, and affection have shown me what it’s like dating a true man. Ever since our two-month anniversary, I always make sure to put on a lingerie set before he comes home from work. He also mentioned how much he loves my cooking, so I always have a warm meal waiting for him when he gets home, too.
I thought that not having a job and just waltzing around a penthouse all day would lead to boredom or me losing my sanity, but every day I always have something new to do. Pick up his work suits, grocery shop, clean, get ready for when he comes home, and making sure he has his files ready to go for when he leaves in the morning. It keeps me busy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. The only downside is that I don’t get to see my parents that much anymore. I’ve seen them twice in the past three months, but I have to keep on reminding myself I’m a busy woman in a loving relationship. Axel has to remind me sometimes that being in love takes time away from others and he’s right.
“Babe, what type of dress do I need to wear tonight?” I yell in the bathroom as I finish up my makeup, adding some red lipstick.
Tonight we’re going to dinner with his best friends to catch up on everyone”s business. I’ve never met them before, so it’s important to make a good first impression.
Axel enters the bathroom holding up a black garment bag, smirking at me like he’s up to no good.
“Come here and look,” he says calmly with a hint of excitement in his tone. Intrigued, I walk over and start to unzip it. My eyes widen and my mouth drops in awe at the gorgeous, black, sparkly dress that spills out. Taking out the dress and holding it up, I let out a gasp.
“Axel, this is beautiful.”
“Undress and I’ll help you put it on.” He takes the dress from me as I start to untie my robe, sliding it off to reveal my naked body. Squatting down, he opens up the dress for me. As I step into it he works his way back up, helping me make sure the dress doesn’t rip or tear.
The tight, fitted dress makes me suck in a big breath, not to mention how tight he’s tying the corset in the back. He smacks my ass letting me know he’s done, turning me to face the mirror and look at its beauty. It’s off the shoulder with sparkles covering every single inch and the corset cinches my waist. The high slit shows more than what I’m used to.
“It’s gorgeous, but will the slit be okay for dinner?” I say, looking at him through the mirror. He lets out a sigh with a smile on his face.
“Winnie…” he says, kissing the side of my neck gently as he puts his hands on my hips.
“It’s perfect for dinner. You’ll be the most stunning woman there.”
I can’t help but blush at his compliment. I’m so grateful I have a man who lets me wear stuff like this out in public. He should know that nobody could ever come close to his love.
“Thank you so much.” I turn around and wrap my arms around his neck, leaning in to give him a kiss. He chuckles, pulling me in closer as our lips land on each other passionately. I almost want to kick out a leg like a princess, knowing that I’m the luckiest woman in the entire world.
“Just relax. They’ll love you,” he says, holding my hand as we make our way towards the steakhouse. Walking in is like stepping inside a completely new universe. The elegant, dimly lit chandeliers that hang above each table create a luxurious atmosphere alone. People scatter around the place with suits and dresses that look fresh off the runway. Even the waitstaff walks around in what looks like designer clothing. I’ve only been here once for my tenth birthday dinner, but don’t remember it looking this cultivated.
We’re greeted by a hostess who looks like a cover model, her wide smile showing not a shade below pearl white.
“Mr. Smith, if you could follow me, please.” Her eyes scan his body, making me slightly jealous. She turns around, not even acknowledging that I’m here, and leads us to the back of the restaurant where conversations from the other tables become distant to quiet. Opening a giant, frosted-glass door, we’re welcomed with a round table in the center and wine that I’m sure costs enough to feed the entire city. The men that I’m nervous to meet sit around the table with their eyes on Axel, then landing on me.
“There they are!” one of them says, clapping his hands. The hostess departs from the table, turning on her heel. I kind of wish she would’ve just lingered by the door, then I wouldn’t be the only female here.
Axel pulls out my seat and I thank him as I sit down and scoot in. I’m in between Axel and some other guy that looks a little older. All five of them look to be a similar age to one another, wearing gray suits with a Rolex to match.
“Gentleman, meet Winver. She’ll be helping me with the hotel soon.” He looks at me, winking. What is he talking about? He’s never mentioned me helping him with the hotel. Instead of making a fool out of myself and embarrassing him, I just smile as if I’m already aware.
“Very nice to meet you, Winver. Please, call me Chad.” The man across from me says.
“Likewise, Chad. I’m so excited I get to meet you all.” All of them chuckle like I just said something funny as a waitress comes in, pouring all of us a glass of red wine. I immediately take a generous sip, wanting to calm my nerves down just a little bit.
The rest of the dinner is filled with business conversations that I don’t have any knowledge to speak on. Most of the time I just sit there acting like I’m interested in their business matters until laughter starts to break out, giving me the cue to laugh with them. Finally, our dessert of crème br?lée is served to everyone at the table. The guy next to me, John, drops his spoon. Pushing his chair back, he bends down under the table when all of a sudden his hand lands right at the top of my slit. I bring my leg in a little closer to myself, but instead of taking his hand off me, he grabs my thigh and hip, rubbing his hand up and down.
I clear my throat as I take my leg and cross it over, making him pull away. I continue to give my attention to the rest of the men, not wanting to cause a scene and interrupt their conversations. John pops back up and scootches himself back in, giving me a sly smile.
“Winver?” My head snaps over to Axel.
“Yes, my love?” I ask like I’ve been listening this whole time.
“Don’t you agree?” I’m screwed. I have no idea what he was talking about, I was too focused on John.
“I’m sorry, can you repeat the question?” All of the men start laughing when Chad goes to speak up.
“Do you agree that bringing in wealthy people from all across the world would help your man”s business?”
Is this a trick question? Why wouldn’t it help?
“Of course, it would help!” Axel looks at me and takes my hand, holding it up to kiss my knuckles.
“That’s why you’re going to help me, Winnie.” I still don’t understand what he means, but I’m just happy to be a part of something this big for him. That he wants me to be a part of something this big.
We all finish off our wine and dessert then say our good-byes. Axel insisted I give everyone a hug, so of course that’s what I did. On the last hug, John trails his hands down to my ass, giving me a little squeeze. I immediately break apart the hug, staring at him wide eyed, wondering who the hell this guy thinks he is. Not to mention doing that in front of my boyfriend is highly disrespectful. With Axel behind me, I turn around to see his reaction but all he does is give me a smile.
Am I just being dramatic?
“See you guys soon!” Axel says, pulling me into him and wrapping an arm around my waist.
Now in the car by ourselves, I try to get more information about John without making it too suspicious.
“That was a great dinner. Who did you say owns that jewelry company? John?”
“No, John runs his own real estate business. Chad is the jewelry guy.”
“Oh, right!” I say, like I paid attention the whole time.
“Do any of them have wives or girlfriends? It’d be nice to meet them.”
“No, they don’t like to be tied down.” He rolls his eyes like he doesn’t agree with his friends’ decisions. I nod my head once, then look out the window a little disappointed. Although I was asking to get more information about John, it still would’ve been nice to hang out with some other women.
The drive back to our place was quick, thankfully. This dress is starting to get tighter and all I want is to get it off me. Now in the elevator, he turns me to face him, holding up my chin gently.
“Don’t forget to lay out my work clothes for tomorrow,” he says, kissing my forehead. When the elevator doors open, we both head into our bedroom. He kindly helps me undress, feeling like I can finally breathe again. I head into the closet to put on a comfortable, loose shirt when he stops me.
“What do you think you’re doing?” My brows furrow in confusion at his question.
“I was just changing into a sleep shirt,” I say, holding it up.
“When do you ever wear a sleep shirt to bed, let alone anything at all?” He shakes his head walking towards me, grabbing the shirt and putting it back in the dresser.
Uhm, only every night?
“You don’t wear anything to bed.” His answer comes out as a command. His eyes darken as he looks me up and down before turning away and leaving the closet. I stay where I’m at for a moment, asking myself if I just made him mad or did something wrong. Walking out of the closet, I see him now laying in bed scrolling through his phone.
“I didn’t mean to upset you,” I say, walking over to him and sitting on the edge of the bed. With his eyes still glued to his phone he lets out a breath.
“Work clothes,” is all he says, still not looking up and disregarding my apology.
Not wanting to upset him even more, I get up and start to put together his outfit for tomorrow. Once I agree with what I put out, I decide to go into the kitchen and pack his lunch for tomorrow as well. I cut up some fresh strawberries and apples putting them into a bowl where I then add spinach and walnuts, making his favorite salad. I make the dressing and put it in a little container, placing them both in the fridge so it’s ready to go when he leaves for work.
I make sure his briefcase is already by the elevator door before I go back into the bedroom, seeing he’s still awake. He turns his head to face me, setting his phone down on top of his chest while I crawl in the bed.
“Your suit is ready to go. I also made you your favorite salad with dressing for lunch tomorrow, and your briefcase is ready by the elevator.” He gives me a smile then kisses my forehead, taking all the weight off my shoulders. He always gives me forehead kisses, so I know he’s not upset with me anymore.
“I love you so much, Winnie. I hope you know that. I’m so excited for our future together.”
Those words leaving his mouth send sparks throughout my body. I can’t say I’ve never thought about our future together. In fact, I’m always thinking about our future together. Getting married and living happily ever after…And now with him wanting me to help with his hotel, we could become the power couple that people could only wish they could be.
I’ll be whatever it is he wants me to be and it”s all for love.
