Chapter 2 #2

I decided I liked this Fey, especially if she was able to joke about the alpha of the Iron Wolves.

The big bad alpha was enough to send most men and wolves running in fear.

Putting my hand and trust into hers, I gasped at the power emanating from the contact.

She made a swirling motion with her free hand, causing the sleeping LeeLee to float up toward us.

“Now, place your palm on her,” she instructed.

When Jenna did the same, the world as I knew it fell away. I’d never transported before, and I wasn’t sure I ever wanted to do it again, even if it were a matter of life and death.

The room we entered was warm and on this side of feminine, with jewel-toned walls of all colors, reminding me of marbles I’d collected as a kid.

“Let’s place her on the pallet in front of the fire.’

I blinked to clear my vision. Fire? I looked around, not seeing anything that resembled one—and then my eyes widened as a stone hearth the size of my bedroom appeared along one wall.

“Right there will do just fine. Do you think she’ll mind lying on fur? It’s faux, of course.” Jenna moved around the room, leaving me holding a sleeping wolf.

I walked over, placing LeeLee on the thick pallet, wishing I could lie down with her. “Where are we?” I asked, staring at the woman moving around gathering things.

“My home,” she said simply.

Since arriving, her energy levels seemed to rise.

I crossed my arms over my bare chest and glared, wondering why and when I’d lost the shirt she’d provided moments ago.

“Obviously, this is your home, but where exactly is it? I don’t smell anything remotely like South Dakota.

If I were near my home or near somewhere I’d been before, my nose would tell me.

I don’t recognize any scents except LeeLee. ’

“There,” she waved.

I jumped as a shirt was put on me, one that had me nearly laughing out loud. “Do I look like a fan of Prince?’

“Hey, he deserves respect, boy.” She started humming the tune to Purple Rain.

I seriously wondered if she was batshit crazy and had an insane urge to pull my hair out.

“Please don’t do that. Your hair is gorgeous.

You’re a natural ginger in both forms. That’s a rarity.

Of course, I am not at all interested in you sexually, you understand.

That doesn’t mean I can’t admire a gorgeous creature.

Being my age, I’ve seen many beautiful men.

You remind me so much of your cousin Laikyn.

She, too, is a beauty. You are both gingers.

Again, I am not interested in her that way either.

Her mate would go all dom Alpha on me, and then I’d have to spank him and he’d...

” She turned to look at me. “Are you okay? You look a little pale.’

I swallowed. “Are you talking about spanking Kellen Styles?’

“Not like really spanking him. I mean, that would just be silly. He’s a grown man. Aha, found it.’

I rubbed my temples. Following the Fey woman’s train of thought—or trains, more than likely, because this female appeared to have more than one going through her mind at all times—was enough to give me a headache.

At the last minute, I put up a stone wall so she wouldn’t read my thoughts.

I’d gotten lax around the humans I dealt with daily.

“Jenna, are you back? I told you to stay and rest up more.’

If my wolf wasn’t already falling for the injured wolf, the man in me would have had some serious fantasies about the gorgeous woman sashaying in through the wall.

I looked behind the newcomer, and yes, I confirmed she had indeed entered through the wall.

I raised my hand. “Are we in Neatherland, or wherever Peter Pan was from?’

“Do you not know your fairytales? Peter Pan was from Neverland,” the newcomer said. Her midnight-black hair shone so dark I saw hints of blue in its depths, and her blue eyes rivaled my wolf’s. As I looked closer, I noticed her smile held a hint of sadness.

“My apologies. I am at a loss here.” I moved closer to LeeLee.

Her whisper-soft voice soothed me. “Jennaveve, have you not explained to him that he is not in Kansas anymore?’

The small Fey placed more things on a table that I swore hadn’t been there minutes before. “You’d think he’d figure it out. You are in the Fey Realm. It’s parallel to the human one, sort of. It’s a different world that I can travel between as can my kind.’

I, who’d just started to feel less dizzy, let my ass hit the ground. It was either that or toss my cookies. “Damn, warn a man before you up and remove him from one world to another.” My voice came out as a hoarse whisper. Automatically, my hand went out to LeeLee, feeling for her steady breathing.

“Now that we have that out of the way, I’m going to need a few more of my people to help. I’m sorry to say I’m a bit whipped. Otherwise, I could have done the healing without a problem.” Jenna brushed her hands on her thighs. Her tone was a little less sure than I liked.

“Do you think you can help her?’

“What is your name?” The dark-haired beauty asked, her voice deep and raspy, reminding me of a certain Hollywood star.

“Slater O’Neil.” I cocked my head to the side.

“Ah, they are here.” Jenna rushed to the wall. “Keep the squeezing down to a minimum, ladies. We have a sick wolf here.’

“Ignore Jennaveve. She’s in a mood for some reason. I’m Talia.” She bent down to eye level, brushing her hand over the blood-matted fur, leaving behind pristine red with silver-tipped fur in her wake. “Now, that should make her feel marginally better.’

Unable to stop myself, I ran my fingers through the softness. “How did you do that?” I asked, looking up at Talia.

Delicate shoulders rose and fell. “Simple. I willed it, and it was so. Magic, if you will. However, we can’t just will her to become human, so get that right out of your head.” She ruffled my hair.
