Fun Times

Travis

Last night I had to take Addie to her speech therapy, so I missed a night with Wrenly. I did get home in time to have sex with her but then she passed out. Yes, I got to lay my eyes on her when she had her interview earlier, but I couldn’t wait to get her into my arms. It was too bad Melissa and Drakos were the main subject all evening.

“He wants to take responsibility, and he does seem to care about her.” I said as I dealt the cards. Valerie was upstairs with Morgan trying to help her with her pregnancy emotions while Wrenly and Steph were there for support. Whatever that meant in women language. Axton just arrived and was eating his dinner as we played poker. He spent the early evening with Drakos trying to console him.

“From what I saw tonight he’s got it bad for that girl.” Axton took a bite of his pizza. We ordered from the Community Center because Morgan had no business cooking.

“I can’t believe we spent weeks trying to figure out how their sex works for Morgan to have it solved in like a minute.” I chuckled.

“She spent her entire adult life in Hollywood and they’re weird out there, they do all kinds of stuff. I think you had it figured out, Jennings, didn’t you?” Creed asked.

Jennings shook his head. “That would be the wife, she’s the weirdo that ordered some really strange porn on the internet to figure it out. Now we just need to figure out the right number to call to get the subscription canceled. They say we have to call to cancel it and I’m sure as hell not the one that’s doing it. She’s the one that ordered it, so she can call. They’ll see what video she watched, and I’d rather pay the $14.95 a month subscription fee than have to talk with someone about it. She just couldn’t leave well enough alone.”

“Did she forgive you yet?” I asked as I picked up a card.

“I’ve been married for a while. I know it doesn’t matter that I bought her diamond earrings, brought her flowers, and cleaned up the mess by myself. She might act like she forgives me, but she’s storing that fucker for twenty years from now so she can bring it up all over again. I’m smart enough to know it’ll never be over. Just last week she brought up the time I tried doing her laundry and bleached her bras. That was fourteen years ago, and this was a lot worse. It doesn’t matter that we were both drugged and did some freaky shit to each other, it only matters that I did some freaky shit.” He took a drink of his beer.

“Yeah, same thing with Steph. She either has an incredible memory or she makes that shit up. Tell me how she forgets Dylan’s lunch, but can remember that time eight years ago when I forgot to take out the trash and she had to do it herself. I swear she makes that shit up.” Granger looked over his cards.

“I swear I’m going to get a journal and write some shit down for later use. I’ll try giving her a taste of her own medicine.” Jennings took another swig of his beer.

I chuckled. “When did Heidi ever do anything wrong? She’s a great wife.” I said.

Jennings thought about it. “I don’t know, but it’ll happen someday.”

We all chuckled, knowing our women were the best women ever created. It felt weird to finally have the opportunity to think that way. Wrenly was my everything and there wasn’t anything I wouldn’t do for her.

“I heard a rumor today.” Axton rearranged his cards and didn’t look up.

“What’s that?” I asked.

Axton pinned his eyes on Magnus. “Someone got flowers today.”

Magnus growled. “Yeah, another threat to stay away from Morgan. What the hell do they think, Creed and I share her or something?”

Creed spoke up. “I’m growing impatient. I thought we would have a good lead this time, but the flowers were ordered by phone and paid for with a Visa Gift Card. The sick bastard used my name and called from a burner phone. Last week it was another picture of Morgan and Magnus left on Bolton’s car at the nursing home. I still think it’s a sick fuck from California.”

“But why keep involving Magnus?” I asked.

Creed shrugged. “Trying to start shit I guess. Maybe they learned somehow that Magnus stayed here while I was deployed. Addie could have told a kid at school I guess.”

Darren chuckled. “Speaking of Addie.” He nodded toward Weston who was once again holding an ice pack on his junk as he laid back on the sofa.

I chuckled. “Serves him right for bringing her back a boy stuffed dog instead of a girl one.”

“They don’t have girl and boy ones! They’re all some sort of unisex shit!” Weston groaned. “How the hell was I supposed to know? I was in California, they’re confused out there about all the gender stuff.”

“The pupils of the dogs eyes were stars, not hearts, pay better attention next time. Take a lesson from your brother, he brought her a stuffed witch for Halloween and I’m pretty sure all the residents along the lake heard her squeal.” I teased.

He rolled his eyes. “Well thank God my little niece is a girl. Addie is dangerous.” He warned us and Creed groaned. I was sure it was because he was dreading Addie's behavior if the twins were boys. Either that or it could have been the fact that his little brother was moving into the basement with his baby niece.

“I think there’s something else important to talk about tonight.” Magnus said.

“What’s that?” I asked.

“The fact that you’ve spoken more over these last three weeks than the entire decade we’ve known you.” He answered.

“Yeah, so were you really that miserable after leaving her? You’re like a new man.” Granger asked.

I laid my cards down and everyone groaned because I won the hand.

“Asshole!”

“You fucker!”

“Son of a bitch!”

I smiled ear to ear as I collected my chips.

“I’m done with this bullshit, that’s two weeks in a row. Want my seat, Magnus?” Granger asked.

“Hell yeah.” Magnus rubbed his hands together.

I decided to get Magnus worked up. “You seem to be getting around better tonight. Hey Weston, let Magnus be an example. Butt sex with a phone ain’t cool.”

Weston laughed then groaned. He heard all about the incident.

“Fuck you, Irons.”

“Have you thanked Morgan yet for the best sex of your life…with a phone?” I laughed and so did everyone else.

“Hey now, I sent a few of those calls too.” Creed announced and Magnus growled.

“I’ll probably never father a child, so thanks assholes.” Magnus was not amused. “Let’s get back on topic. How serious is it with Carlson?” Magnus asked, hoping to take the heat off himself since Patrick had a shift and wasn’t there to take all of our inappropriate jokes.

“You asked last week and it’s the same answer. We are together but without huge expectations just yet. It’s still new, just like any new relationship.” I watched Creed deal.

“But you have a history, that has to count for something.” Magnus said.

“It does, we have been very open with our thoughts, and it’s been great. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.” I wasn’t sure what they wanted to hear.

Creed sat back with his arms crossed as he studied me. “I guess I never realized how miserable you were before she stepped back into your life.”

He was right, and I no longer got stuck back in my bad memories. “She brought along with her an entirely different childhood than I remembered. We still haven’t run out of good memories to talk about, and I really like that we are making new ones.” She was pretty damn hot between the sheets too.

The door upstairs opened, and we all heard footsteps and giggles. It was time for the girls to join us. Morgan rode Melissa’s chair lift down, and Wrenly walked behind her with the other girls. I had to have been smiling ear to ear when she approached, and I pulled her down on my lap.

“Is Morgan feeling better?” I whispered.

“Yeah, she called Melissa. She got to hear for herself that she was fine and Morgan apologized for teasing about Drakos when she heard about the incident in the storage closet with Axton. It sounds like she cares for Drakos too, but she won’t take him back until he can prove that he can act like a grown up. Melissa said he sobbed like a big baby when she told him she’s pregnant. They were not happy tears.” She whispered.

“Of course they weren’t, he’s worried about her.” I whispered back.

“I know, but I’m sure they’ll work it out.” She pecked my cheek then settled in on my lap for the game.
