Nylah #2
I ignored her for a second as I called the waitress ova to order my drink.
“Lemme get a Henny and Coke, please, and make it strong—very, very strong.”
She nodded.
“Oh, shit,” Denise said. “What happened?”
I ignored her too, my legs steady tapping under the table.
“I love y’all, love that y’all care, but I don’t want to talk about it until I get a drink in me.”
They all looked at me and nodded.
The table sat quietly as I stared off in the distance, thinking about Rosama, Blaze, and everything in between until my drink hit the table and I picked it straight up.
“Keep them comin’, luv, please.”
The waitress nodded as she walked off laughing, and I took the cup to the head and tossed my phone on the table with the picture of Rosama front and center, making them all get up and lean on the table to look.
“Is that pit bull?” Ari asked.
I nodded, signaling for another drink.
“But that is not you down there.”
“It is not,” I said softly.
“Where the fuck is he?!” Raven asked.
I could see them getting just as mad as I was.
“He said he had to handle some business. He will be at my crib tonight.”
“Okay,” Denise said softly, trying to be timid with me. “Have you talked to him?”
I shook my head. “No, I was gonna pull up on him, but I’ma wait until tonight.”
“And what are you gonna do until then?” Raven asked.
“We are gonna have some drinks, then I’ma go home and…get ready.”
They nodded, and I did what I said. We got a table full of shots. We ordered some food and talked shit to nigga that tried to buy us and laughed at everything else while the whole time, on the inside, I was breaking apart. Feeling like I was being played by the nigga I was falling for.
By the time we left there, it was around eight at night. My girls walked me to my car, and each of them hugged me.
“Are you sure you can get yourself home?” Ari asked.
I nodded with a smile. “Yeah, girl, I am good. I will let you know when I get home.”
I hopped in my car and pulled off with the music blasting and the window down, blowing that start-of-fall air in my face, helping me get home in one piece.
I was around the corner from my crib when I got a message from Rosama telling me he was about to pull up as well. I quickly sobered up, got home, and sat on the hood of my car, waiting.
About ten minutes later, I heard bass coming down the street, looked up, and saw him coming. My heart was beating in my ear by the time he parked behind me and hopped outta his car.
“Wussup, princess,” he said as he walked up on me.
“Wussup?” I said, looking him up and down. “You good? Handled your business?”
He nodded. “I did. Dre bout to make money now.”
I nodded back at him. “That is good. Can we go inside and talk?”
“Yeah,” he said with a laugh. “Everything good?”
I hopped outta my car and grabbed my bag. “We bout to see.”
Rosama followed behind me up the steps into my place. Inside, he closed the door behind him, and I went to change into some sweats and a crop top and put my hair up.
When I walked outta my room and down the hallway, I saw him in the kitchen rollin up, so I walked up to him and knocked the blunt outta his hand.
“AYO!” he yelled.
“Do you take me as a joke, Rosama?” I asked him.
“No, baby, what the fuck is up with you?” he asked.
“Did you leave my house the other night?”
He stared at me for a second before he answered, and I punched him in his chest.
“Yo, Nylah!” he said as he tried to ease outta the kitchen without me hitting him again. “Chill the fuck out. No, I didn’t leave ya shit.”
I rushed him again, punching him in his chest and his face, and each one of my blows was connecting.
“Girl, what the fuck is wrong with you?!” he yelled out, grabbing my arms to stop me.
“’Cause you are a fuckin’ liar!”
“No the fuck I am not!”
I snatched away from him and went and grabbed my phone off my dresser and came back into the living room.
“So what the fuck is this?” I asked as I threw the phone at him.
He picked it up and stared at it for a second, then looked at me.
“Baby—”
“Blaze was outside my house when I was goin’ out, asking me if I was okay, then showed me this,” I said, interrupting him.
Rosama stared at the phone a few minutes longer, then looked back up at me.
He opened his mouth, and I held my hand up in the air, and he stopped as tears flowed down my face unwillingly.
“I trusted you, I was falling for you, and you leave my bed to get your dick sucked by another bitch AFTER we fucked.”
Rosama looked at me, defeated.
“Nylah, baby, I promise you it didn’t mean anything.”
“I don’t want to hear it, Rosama. I just want you to go.”
“No,” he said. “I'm not leavin'. You need to let me explain.”
I shook my head. “I don’t want to hear what you have to say. I want you outta my house.”
Rosama stood there, like he meant what he said, and I walked to my front door and opened it for him.
He exhaled and walked ova to me.
“Just because I don’t want to hurt you more, I’ma leave. But, WE are not ova.”
I closed the door slowly in his face.
“We are, Rosama… We are.”
I went back in my living room, sat on my couch, and took a deep breath, thinking I had it together, but I broke down and really cried.
I couldn’t believe I let that nigga hurt me.
