Epilogue
I listened intently as Jon shared the dream, and when he wound down, I had to tease him. “Wait, so the dream ended when we anchored and had sex?”
“At least, the first night’s did. I honestly don’t remember the other nights’ worth dreams all too well. They seemed to be some kind of mix of that first night, only with other times you were fucking me senseless.”
“Huh. Are you sure you weren’t just really horny?”
“When am I not really horny?”
“I take your point.” It really gave me an immense amount of smug satisfaction that my fiancé always desired me. “Do we marry in the dream?”
“Ah, we do. Not that I saw the wedding ceremony, but I remember one part of the dream where I’m called your husband.”
“That’s wildly interesting. I wish I could dream like that. Maybe you should write it down.”
Jon snorted. “Like anyone’s going to pay for this. Rather, why would you want a story of our love life in an alternate universe around for human consumption?”
“I have no shame where you are concerned.”
“Clearly.” Jon mused, “I guess I could haul out the typewriter and write it down. Just for us, though. I seriously have no idea how I’d even publish it.”
That was fine by me. I wanted a copy of it somewhere so I could come back and revisit it from time to time.
Jon tensed a little. “Wait. Wait, you’re not going to make me write the sex scenes down so you can read them, are you?”
“They’re a wonderful insight into what you really like in bed.”
“I…really wish I could argue that.”
I cackled, then laughed some more when he poked me in the ribs. “What? You can’t blame me!”
“I knew I was creating a monster when I told you.”
“So you won’t write it down for me?”
There was a long pause, as if he were seriously thinking it over.
Sensing a weakness, I tilted my head to whisper in his ear, “I can make it worth your while.”
“We talking, like, favors per chapter?”
“Sure.” I didn’t care how we handled it as long as I got the results.
Jon got a wicked tone in his voice. “Well, in that case, I might be persuaded…”
“Then allow me to persuade.”
It might take a while because we were crazy busy, but maybe in between cases, I could lure another chapter or so from Jon. He was not going to wiggle out of our bargain.
This was very much a story I wanted.
